I couldn't believe it. She hit me on the head with a goddamn pan without even trying to hear me out! Were humans always this impulsive?

"You know, Yrah. This could've killed me if I didn't have a thick skull," I grumbled.

Yrah stared at me wide-eyed as if she couldn't believe the pan didn't hurt me. Then, she proceeded to hit me again, but I grabbed her arm.

"Calm down, okay? I told you I wouldn't hurt you," I said irritably.

"How are you not unconscious? I hit you really hard!" she exclaimed. "And why are the police taking so long to get here?" she mumbled.

"Will you please just let me explain? I promise I'm not a threat," I said, making my tone more gentle. She was clearly still very scared, and I didn't want to make things worse.

Yrah's eyes flickered with uncertainty, but she didn't pull her arm away. Instead, she seemed to be listening to me.
