Icelyn's POV
“What?” I subconsciously mutter. The mysterious man smirks and then gets on his feet. He straightens his suit by the lapels and then gazes down at my Dad, who looks mortified by what he had uttered. Ellen screamed suddenly after she ran into the living room. The sight of my bloodied father and the blood on my dress and body must have frightened her to death. Hastily, one of the men grabbed her and pinned her to the ground. My heart constricted. Rage filled me. “Spare the girl only. She's coming with me,” he ordered then turned around to leave immediately. A man grabbed my arms and pulled me up. “Get off! Don't you dare!” I gritted out then shoved the man away from me. He was strong but obviously did not want to hurt me, so he let go. I spat him a deathly look then crouched down by my father. I held his trembling shoulders. “You will not lay even a finger on my father and governess,” I threatened as I glared at the back of the mysterious man. He slowly turned around and smirked at me amusingly. I hated that look. Hated that face. Hated this man. “And if I kill them right in front of you?” He questioned with a raised eyebrow. My heart fluttered suddenly and I almost gasped out. What was that? Why did my heart flutter when he raised his eyebrow? “I'd like to see what you would do, Silverhead,” he smoothly said. My head boiled at that name he called me because of my very light silver-blonde hair. Who did he think he was to start giving me nicknames when he was here to murder my family? “I could kill you,” I heard myself say to my greatest shock. I who couldn't even kill a noisy bug? The mysterious man's eyes lit up with amusement and he stared down at me as if I was a monkey wearing a dress. “Kill? That means you're going to be very interesting. Knock her out,” he ordered coldly and his eyes turned dark with an emotion I couldn't explain. I sprang up abruptly and kicked at the man who had come to probably knock me out. I smacked my palms against his face and pushed him. Two more men rushed towards me, but my Dad scrambled to their paths, causing them to tumble into him and fall. I saw our huge white vase that was now shattered on the floor and grabbed a broken piece on first instinct. I instantly held it to my throat. The men who were approaching me halted. The entire room stilled. “Icelyn,” my Dad muttered from the floor. I felt my tears falling but didn't know why. All I knew was this mysterious man wanted me alive. The only way I could save my Dad and Ellen was if I blackmailed him with my life. “Touch my family and watch me tear my throat open with the sharp edge of this broken ceramic piece!” I yelled and pinned the edge to my neck. Any slight forceful movement could get me bleeding badly in moments. “Icelyn, no!” Ellen shriveled even from the floor. My Dad looked dejected as his eyes held my throat. The mysterious man stood rooted to the floor, gazing at my eyes. The men took a few steps toward me, and I shifted backward. “Don't,” I warned them, and the movement caused the broken ceramic to slice my skin. I felt warm liquid pool at that spot, then flow down my neck. Ellen screamed and began to cry as the blood stained my dress. I hardly ever got injured. So this first one brought out fresh, thick red blood. The eyes of the mysterious man began to glow again. This time with a different kind of emotion embedded in them. Was it rage or concern? His jaw clenched and unclenched as he stared at the blood. I could see his fist forming into a tight ball. “Icelyn, stop,” he commanded. It was more like pleading with an order. I could feel there was another emotion attached. Fear. This mysterious man was afraid I'd actually do it. “If you're going to murder my family, you might as well see me go down first,” I threatened and was going to slice the ceramic hard against my throat but in that instant, the mysterious man moved speedily through the air in a blur of gold light. Before I knew it, the broken piece had been kicked out of my hand by an unknown force and I was pulled against something hard. I gasped with fright and shock. Strong arms encircled me and held me firmly in place. I could hear the fast and loud beat of a racing heart right in my ear. The mysterious man was hugging me. I didn't know why. But I began to sob. I grabbed hold of the lapels of his suit and cried silently, not having any strength in me. He locked my head against his chest with his palm at the back. “Please,” he whispered with a broken voice only I could hear. “Please, Zee. Don't leave me again,” he begged. I stopped crying immediately. Who was Zee? I lifted my eyes to look at him and our eyes met. His was no longer glowing. But as I stared into them, I began to feel trapped in a vacuum. As if my whole existence was being pulled away from me. As if I was falling into an abyss. “Raven,” I heard my lips pronounce before I went unconscious in his arms. *** I stirred and tossed in what seemed like a very soft bed. Something was aching around my neck. My arms were dull and my muscles sore. I turned to the other side of the bed and gently opened my eyes to behold a vast, sunny, white room. My eyes couldn't even fully open because of how bright the room was. I tried to sit up, but my strength failed and I could only lean against the bed frame. Where was I? Where was this? Why all this sun? I was not used to sunlight. There was never any sun in my room, yet this room was filled with it. Was this... Was this heaven? Was I dead? Oh my God! I jumped off the bed abruptly with a strength I did not know I had. My straight blonde hair fell over my entire body. I ran to the open window and looked out, expecting to see streets of gold. But what I saw was greenery. Trees, flowers, plants, and cars. Surely there were no cars in heaven. The door to the room I was in opened and a lady wearing a maid's uniform walked in. She gasped when she saw me standing there. “You are awake,” she stated. I gulped and winced immediately. My throat hurt like hell. I lifted my hand to it and felt a bandage there. I saw that there was a mirror opposite me and looked at my reflection. Truly, my neck was bandaged. I was wearing a short, pure white dress and my hair was all over the place. I was a mess. “Where am I?” I managed to ask. “Chesterfield Pack,” she answered. I furrowed my brows. Chester—what? “Please come and freshen up. Then we would prepare you to go have breakfast with the Alpha.” “Where is my family?” I asked as the memories of my 18th birthday flooded me all of a sudden. My body began to shake as she stared at me. My Dad... Ellen. What happened to them? “I don't know anything about your family. I was only assigned to take care of you.” I stood motionless. No. This couldn't be. I couldn't lose my family this way. I couldn't lose Ellen this way. “Who do you say I'm having breakfast with?” “The Alpha.” I recalled that my Dad had called that mysterious man Alpha the other night. I nodded. I would confront him and demand for my family. And if he had killed them, then I would stab him with a table knife and stab myself next. However, when the maid helped me get ready and I walked down the stairs to the dining table, I knew I was in huge trouble. There, at the head of the table sat the most beautiful man I had ever laid my eyes on. He was shirtless, with beautiful tanned skin and muscles so strong I knew I'd be done for if he was ever to pin me down. His hair was pure black, damp, and in ruffles over his head. His face? God, his face was sculptured well. I could stare at it all day. He was perfection in a man. Slowly, he sensed my presence and looked up at me from his food. He stared at me gently starting from my feet. Eating up my appearance as his eyes trailed my entire figure up to my face. When our eyes met, I could see gold tingles in his eyes, the way his jaws clenched, and his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. I felt crazy butterflies in my stomach under his mesmerizing gaze. Suddenly, I was aware that he was a very desirable gentleman. The dream of ladies. And I was a lady with such a dream. Finally, the man sat straight and then leaned on his seat. He smirked sideways,s at me. “Good morning, my Luna,” he said.Alpha Chester's POVLast night was the most hectic, shocking and relieving night I have ever had. If anyone had told me that I would find her again, I'd have called them a liar to their face and then beheaded them for even daring to lie to me.I couldn't believe I found her. She was back to being mine. Finally, I had a female to call my own again. A female to sit beside me as I ruled my pack. A Luna for the Chesterfield Pack. She was human. That was the only problem. My people would not accept her into our midst. They'll hate her and demand her killed. But I could protect her. I'll do my very best to protect her. After she fell unconscious in my arms last night, the older woman there began to cry. Thinking she was dead. I saw the look of dejection on her father's face. That broken look I had when I faced a similar loss twenty years ago.“She's just unconscious,” I announced and relief fell on their faces. There and then, I knew I couldn't kill them. I couldn't kill my mate's family. S
Icelyn's POVI hated the way my body reacted to this mysterious man like he was the sexiest man in the world. Well, he was definitely the most s*xy man in my world because my Dad was the only man I knew. I wasn't permitted to watch TV or do anything that would give me a glimpse of the outside world. There were CCTV cameras everywhere except the bedrooms. So sometimes, Ellen sneaked in books for me to read secretly. I, therefore, had a good knowledge of men... And how they could have a relationship with a woman. The romance books I read had done me bad. Olive gathered her strength and rose from the black sand. She dusted the grains off her body and hair the best she could and took in a deep breath. The hot air burned her nostrils and she let out a cough. She could still feel the chill of the ocean water against her skin even while standing in a place about 60 degrees hot. Olive looked around again and could not find her bag anywhere. She had thought her bag would be strapped to her back like it was before the drowning illusion. The bag required a lot of straps and lock-in, and would take her at least a minute to take it down from her back. Icelyn's POVI screamed and grabbed hold of my father as the door fell in a deafening bang of dust. The only safe place my father told me about was already infiltrated. Where could I run to?“Go!” he hissed at me. I sprinted away towards my hallway. I met Ellen coming back out.“What was that sound?
