Marcus

I sat in my study, the amber liquid in my glass catching the faint light from the single candle I had lit on my desk. It was getting dark outside, the kind of time I should be relaxing. But all I could feel was the burning rage deep inside me. That little twerp called me his subject.

Imagine that little twerp, telling me I am his subject.

I took another sip, letting the fire of the alcohol settle in my chest. But it wasn’t enough to douse the fire in my mind. My fingers gripped the glass tighter, the crystal almost feeling like it might shatter under my anger. Well, I am his subject for now, for now.

I would have finished my discussions with Jaxon by now. It was supposed to be a simple, discreet meeting between us. By now, he would have given me access to Lyra. That was why I wanted to let him know that I am Lyra’s father. I am sure that would have made him see me in a good light.

Knowing that I’m related to Lyra would have meant something to him. I could have swayed him. He

“That’s terrible,” Garret exclaimed, taking a seat. “How could Damien do that to you?”“Don’t worry. His time is coming.” My tone softened slightly, though it still had a cold edge. “By the time I finish with him, he won’t know what hit him.”“But sir, do you think Jaxon knows about us? I mean, do you think Lyra told them about what she overheard in your study that day?”“What did she hear? We were just speculating on the reason she may have run away since she was in the house that day. For all you know, she didn’t hear anything, and something else may have triggered her.”“I was just wondering what they might have discussed - Jaxon and Damien,” Garret continued. “If Lyra didn’t know about your plan, she wouldn’t have told Jaxon. So Damien is still unaware of anything.”“Of course,” I said, taking a sip from my drink. “Even if Lyra suspects me, she wouldn’t go blabbering her mouth to outsiders. She can’t tell such things to people from other packs.”“Really?”“I raised her with an iro

"I believe you confessed to me because you still don’t trust the women in your back," she said quietly. "You feel they will behave the same way as your former girlfriend. But you need to forgive yourself and move on. And you can still check out other packs if that is what you really want and pick a mate from there. Luke, you need to move on. There’s more to life than what has happened."Her words hung between us, heavy with meaning. I didn’t know what to say, but a part of me wanted to argue, to tell her it wasn’t that simple. But I didn’t. Instead, I just stared at her, trying to process what she was saying. She was being so… open.Lyra gave a soft chuckle, as if reading my thoughts. "I’m not asking you to forget your past, Luke. It’s just… don’t let it steal your future. Don’t let it steal what could be."I swallowed, feeling a lump in my throat. "And what’s that supposed to mean? You want me to forget everything just like that?""No." She shook her head firmly. "I’m saying don’t li

  • Luna Lyra   The prisoner’s truth

The stone steps of the dungeon felt colder than usual, the chill creeping through my boots as we descended into the depths of the keep. Lyra walked beside me, her face set with determination, but I could see the tension in her jaw and the tightness around her eyes that suggested something deeper.I didn’t know what to expect when we saw the prisoner, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were walking into something far more complicated than either of us realized. The prisoner had been quiet ever since he was brought here, his fate uncertain. We reached the steel door of the holding cells, and the guard standing outside nodded to us as he unlocked the gate. The flickering torchlight cast long shadows on the walls, illuminating the grim stone floor and the narrow, damp hallway. I glanced at Lyra, but she was already stepping forward, her steps measured.Inside the cell, the prisoner sat against the cold wall, his arms chained to a rusted iron ring bolted into the stone. He looked mo

Lyra“Samson,” he answered. “Please don’t let them execute me. I don’t want to die.”I didn’t say anything but turned round and started walking out with Luke following behind me. The prisoner was still crying and calling for me.Silence fell between us like a heavy curtain as we walked out of the dungeon. I felt the weight of the words we just heard pressing down on me. My father? I mean, I know he doesn’t like me, but… I was frozen in place, the color draining from my face. Luke moved toward me, but before he could reach me, my knees buckled.“Lyra?” he called as he caught me just in time, pulling me against himself as my breath hitched, my eyes wide with shock.“No,” I whispered, shaking my head slowly. “No… it can’t be.”The guard stepped aside, clearly startled by my reaction.“What’s wrong with her?” he asked, but Luke didn’t answer him. Instead, he gently guided me up the steps and into the open air. The cold hit us both like a slap, but it didn’t seem to shake me out of my st

“What? Your half-brother?” Luke asked.I nodded slowly and whispered, “Yes.”“But, how come he doesn’t know you? And why will he come here to kidnap your son? Why…” Luke’s face hardened, and I saw the realization hit him just as it had struck me. He leaned back, his eyes narrowed as he processed the information. "Wait. He doesn’t know you are related?”I shook my head, feeling utterly lost. "No, he doesn’t know. It seems my father hid him from everyone. That’s why I didn’t recognize him the first time he was brought in here.”“So, how did you know he is your half-sibling?”I exhaled loudly. “I’m not 100% sure, but …”“Lyra.” Luke looked straight at me. “What do you mean?”I leaned into the chair and started my story. “Some years ago, my mother found out that my father was cheating on her. When she tried to confront him, he told her that since she couldn’t give him a male child, he was going to get it outside. According to my mom, she noticed that there was a time he was spending more

LukeI was silent for a moment, running a hand through my hair. Then, I turned to face Lyra, my lips pressed into a thin line. “I… don’t know. He might have. But even if he hasn’t, we can’t risk acting on our own right now. The only thing we can do is wait until he gets back.”She let out a shaky breath, nodding slowly. “If alpha Jaxon had already told him about me and Leo, then …” She said. “Who knows what he is planning right now. My father can be quite unpredictable.”“Don't worry, Lyra,” I told her, my expression softening. "I think its best we wait for Jaxon. We should wait for the Alpha to return and then tell him everything. He’s the one who can help us make sense of this. Besides, he has more power than either of us." “Okay,’ she said with her head bowed. Her voice trembled with the fear that had been gnawing at her ever since we heard the prisoner’s words.“Maybe I should call him,” I said, bringing out my phone. But I stopped midway, because I remebered that the alpha and

I noticed that the Luna was there as well. She must have missed her husband a lot. However, Jaxon likes her to stay in the office during some of our meetings. Her wise counsel has helped us on many occasions. I nodded to her in greeting, then turned to my alpha.“Jaxon, you are back,” I greeted him.“Yes, Luke. I trust there was no problem while we were away.”I shook my head, and he nodded. “Good. I have a task for you, but we’ll talk later.”After saying that, the Alpha’s piercing blue eyes locked onto Lyra. “Welcome back, Alpha Jaxon,” Lyra greeted him in a low voice.“Lyra, how are you and the baby?”“We are good, alpha.”His presence was commanding, as always, but his tone was unexpectedly warm. “Lyra,” he began. “You’ll be returning to Axelland soon.”His words hit Lyra like a punch to the gut. She froze, her breath catching audibly. Then the tears came, streaming down her face as sobs wracked her body. “No,” she whispered, shaking her head. “No, I can’t go back. Please, don’t

Lyra“What is it?” Jaxon asked and I turned to look at Luke wondering what he was talking about.“It's about the prisoner,” Luke said. “We are not sure yet but he may be related to Lyra.”I told Jaxon all I know about my father’s son based on what my mother told me. Based on what the prisoner narrated, it’s likely that he is the same person, Luke told him. The alpha listened calmly to our story and then made his decision.“He will not be executed,” he said and I heaved a sigh of relief. “For now. For all we know he may have heard that story from your real half-brother. Anyway, since we would be collaborating more with your pack, we will surely know the truth in the coming days.”“Okay,” I said, understanding why he said that. Truth be told, I am not entirely sure that he is my relative as I have never met him before nor have my mother. “I have to go now alpha. I have to check on Leo.”“Okay, Lyra,” Jaxon answered. “Remember what I said. Anything at all, you let me know.”“Thank you a

  • Luna Lyra   Arresting Luke

Adol was almost on the surface as my eyes turned black. My guards, seeing what had happened, brought out their own weapons and faced them. The room was on the brink of chaos. Warriors from both sides faced off, tension crackling in the air. Weapons were drawn, and it felt like the smallest spark would ignite a deadly fight.Luke, now sitting on the floor, held up a hand. “Stop,” he said, his voice steady despite the blood on his face. “There’s no need for anyone to get hurt.”He slowly got to his feet, looking directly at me. “If you want me, then take me. But leave my men out of this.”His warriors protested, but he silenced them with a sharp look. “Stand down,” he commanded. “That’s an order.”Reluctantly, they obeyed, stepping back. I motioned to my guards, who moved in and grabbed Luke. As they dragged him away, he didn’t resist. He simply looked at me, his expression calm but unreadable.Rowan caught my arm as I turned to leave. “Damien, what is going on? You’re acting like a

Damien’s povThat was all the answer I needed. I smiled, came down from the bed, and pulled her toward the edge of the bed until her feet were on the ground. I didn’t know whether she could stand steady with the way her body was still shaking from the org*sm. So I held her to steady her, but surprisingly, she stood firm.I turn her around so she back is facing me.“Now, bend over, and let me fuck you,” I told her.She did and then raised her ass up for my full view. This was intoxicating; and my wolf groaned at the sight as I grabbed her ass and brought them closer to me. I released a moan as I put my cock into her hole and thrust.I thrust again and again as she moaned in pleasure. I put a hand in her hair, pulling her head back. My tongue traces her neck, flicking it over her mark. She moans as my teeth scrape the mark. I knew it was just as sensitive as her clit, and she couldn't get enough.I thrust up into her again, a mixture of pain and pleasure tears through my body, as I felt

Lyra’s povSeeing that Denise was not responding to my calls, I decided to touch her to bring her back to earth. I wonder what could make her to be so lost in thought like this. She nearly jumped out of her skin when my hand reached her arm. I apologized for startling her and asked if everything was okay with her. She tried to downplay it, but I knew there was something wrong.Anyway, I walked her back to the room since she said she would not be coming down for dinner. Maybe a good night's rest will help her, like she said. Yet, I wondered what could worry her like this. Denise is not a woman that things get to so easily. I sighed and turned around to head to my room.I believed she was lying when she said Luke looked like someone she knows. As far as I know, Luke never ventured into the human city for anything. But then, why was she interested in him? Could it be that he was the source of her worry? What a silly thought, I chide myself. They are meeting for the first time today, so

Damien pov I stood at the main entrance of the packhouse, my arms crossed as I waited for Marcus to arrive. Adol stirred uneasily, sensing the tension in the air. He had always been looking for an opportunity to tear at Marcus. ‘Relax, Adol,’ I tell him. ‘There is no need to fight. We are just here to talk.’‘Are you sure about that? I neither trust nor like that man.’‘Same with me. But that doesn’t mean we should fight him.’‘What if he wants to fight us? What if he wants to enter the house by force?’‘I won’t allow that to happen,’ I answered, stepping forward to intercept the elder as I just sighted him. Marcus approached, his brisk strides and sharp expression giving away his annoyance.“Damien,” Marcus greeted, his tone clipped. “My assistant informed me that there are visitors from Crewwood inside the packhouse. Is that true?”I gave a short nod to acknowledge him, my expression calm but firm. “Elder Marcus. It is true.”His eyes narrowed. “Then I want to see them. It’s not e

  • Luna Lyra   What will she do?

From what she told me, she was closer to the Luna of that pack. So, she might not know this guy that well. So what am I going to do now? Should I keep quiet and pretend that I didn’t just find my mate? A mate that I have been praying for all these while? Then what happens after tomorrow when they go home? Should I go back and talk to him about the mate bond? No, the mate bond is a strong pull, and the wolves that feel it are not able to resist it. You can try to resist it for a while, especially if you are a ranked member of a pack. Yeah, it comes with the training, but eventually, you have to do something about it. I think I should relax, go to bed, and wait for tomorrow to see what happens.I thought I was still walking towards my room, not knowing that I had stopped and was literally standing in one place. As I stood there, my thoughts kept drifting back to that man. The beta, my mate. I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was far from over. If he truly was my mate, we’d have to

Everyone is fine. He said it was a sort of flash attack, brief and short. They killed off the small number of wolves that came. But he just wanted me to inform me so we would be careful on our way back.”“Oh okay. That’s good of him,” Lyra said. “I hope you’ve been fed. We have enough food and drinks for all of you.”“Don’t worry, Lyra. We are good,” the man said, touching Lyra’s arm tenderly. If I didn't know better I would say he was flirting with my brother’s wife. I wonder if he is aware of what his scent is doing to my wolf. To me.Axel, my wolf, has been so sure as soon as we entered this room that he is the one. She has been prancing in my head, and I could feel her pushing forward, whispering, no, shouting the word: Mate. Axel wanted me to jump him as soon as we identified where the smell was coming from. But that would be rash. Besides I am the woman here and he is the man. Although since we are not entirely human, a woman can go to a man. I, for one, don’t have any reservati

Denise pov“Hello, little one,” I said warmly, kneeling to his level. “I’m your Aunt Denise. It’s so nice to finally meet you.”Leo giggled and reached out a tiny hand, and I felt a pang of emotion I hadn’t expected. He looks so much like my brother. I took his hand gently, marveling at how small it was.“Come, let me carry you a bit,” I said to Leo, stretching out my hand. To my pleasant surprise, he agreed. He stretched both of his hands, and I lifted him up. “Oh, you are quite a big boy.”He gave me a sweet, goofy smile as I bounced him around in my arms.“He’s beautiful, Lyra,” I said, glancing up at my sister-in-law. “You and Damien have every reason to be proud.”Lyra’s smile was radiant. “We are. He’s our little miracle.”“Now, you are making me want a pup of my own,” I smiled, still looking at Leo.“Oh, but you will have your own. And not just one but many pups. Because I know how much you love children, Denise.”I chuckled. She was right. “Well, only with my true mate.”“The

  • Luna Lyra   Talking with Denise

My smile tightened. “Thank you. It’s been an adjustment but a rewarding one.”Denise was a vision in power dressing. Her crisp white blouse, tailored to perfection, accentuated her sharp collarbones. A sleek black pencil skirt hugged her curves, while a sharp blazer completed the look, exuding an air of confidence and professionalism. Her hair, usually worn in loose waves, was pulled back into a polished chignon, showcasing her delicate features. A pair of classic pumps, their heels clicking confidently against the floor of the offic, completed the ensemble. She probably dressed this way in order to impress my father. Although, to her credit, Denise always knows how to dress up. Anywhere she is going, she knows how to look sharp. She knows just the right outfit that will complement her figures and for the event. I smiled faintly. Still, I am sure she picked this outfit today at the new firm, determined to make a lasting impression on not just my father but the people at …. The sile

Damien's povI watched Lyra as she hesitated by the window, her eyes clouded with worry. I approached her, wrapping my arms gently around her waist.“What’s on your mind, love?” I asked softly. She leaned into me, her body relaxing slightly but her tone carrying her unease. “I was just thinking about the other room downstairs. Since I am going to stay here, who will use my former room?”My lips curled into a small smile. “That will be our son’s room. Leo deserves a space of his own, doesn’t he?”“Yes, he does,” she replied.“That’s why I told the nanny to convert your former room to become a nursery where our son will stay.”“You are getting my point. The room is downstairs while ours is upstairs.”“I don’t quite get you. Can you explain further?” I asked her.Lyra turned in my arms, her brows furrowed. “I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’d prefer it if he had a room close to our bedroom upstairs. That way, I can feel secure knowing he’s safe and within our reach, especially after…” S
