Freya peered out the window and saw that it was already dark. She checked the clock and realized it was about 9 p.m., so she softly got out of bed to avoid disturbing Arthur's slumber. "After only five hours of sleep, I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight...I need to handle a few things." She fixed her gaze on Arthur, who was still sleeping sweetly; he seemed more attractive asleep. "I cannot be fooled by your appearance..." She forced her way out and tiptoed into her own room. Using her Alpha powers, she was able to find her closet and remove her assassin suit. She closed the door, went into the bathroom, changed before opening the door, and exited the room through the window. Although it is too early for her to go, she has a deadline and must return within an hour to persuade anybody inquires about her whereabouts with her lie. Knowing that the chief minister has a lot of guards and that security would be too rigorous at midnight, leaving at such time will save her some worry b
The next morning, while eating breakfast, she had a flashback of what had happened between her and her wolf the night before. She let go of her spoon and examined the food dish. She felt both happy and sad at the same time; relieved that she had not killed Arthur last night, even though she hated that her wolf had not allowed her to succeed. Who would fuck her and make her demand more if she had murdered him? Apart from that, even the minister she saw last night would work with Luna to drive her from the palace so they may carry out their own agendas. However, she still does not understand why, given their friendship, the minister is plotting behind Luna. Did Luna wrong him or refuse to give him what he desired? “It is all simply an attempt to get power. Even after they slaughtered my parents, he is not the direct heir to the kingdom, thus he must advance after seventeen years." She muttered beneath her breath. She shuddered at a touch on her shoulder and raised her face to look at
Elora observed the Beta as he walked around. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a wrapped leaf, and handed it to Elora. "We have to act quickly or we will lose everything. Luna is determined to get rid of Freya, but it appears that it is becoming increasingly difficult...meanwhile, she intends to dethrone Arthur if he continues to blow up due of the presence of that lady." Elora examined the leaves. “What are you up to? I do not believe my father has discovered the royal file yet. Don't you think we should lie low until he does?” He shook his head. "I have already discussed it with him. We have to make the most use of our limited time," he said, approaching Elora. "What about murdering Arthur and blaming Freya for his death? That manner, we will be able to solve our two difficulties, and gaining the throne will be easier from here." She sighed. “So, how will it work? Freya is so smart that she can get away with almost anything; she even knows our strategy." His eyes flew wide.
Freya made the decision to return to the palace after she had a lengthy chat with Flarry. She would not want to stay any longer once Arthur went. On her way back, she felt nervous; it appeared like she was losing something, and she felt as if someone was chasing her. She arrived at the palace and chose the easiest approach to the tunnel that would lead her to her chamber. In the process of walking to her room, she observed a maid laying on the floor, but she would not want to walk along the lengthy hallway where everyone would see her. "Is she not feeling well? Why is someone lying next to the well and on the damp floor as well?” Her conscience would not let her ignore the maid, so she walked back and picked her up only to find her lying in a pool of blood. “Moon goddess! What is this all about? Did she kill herself or what?” She pulled her aside so she could see the knife lying on the ground. She narrowed her eyes. “Did she commit suicide? Then I have to meet Arthur, or I will be a
Throughout the rest of the day, Arthur was not himself. He continued thinking about the problem and the possibility that Freya had been charged. The moment in which Freya flung a knife at him raced through his memory, and he tried to think that Freya just held the knife for self-defense and had no other reason. Was he truly a friend or were they plotting something against him? He paused, recalling Flarry's appearance with Freya. The bed was becoming too hot for him, so he rose up and started wandering about with his arms crossed backwards. He wants to believe that Freya is innocent, besides she had friends before coming into the palace, and she is still trying to adjust. “That backway! All of this would not have happened if she had not been through it. I will have to close that way, and anyone who walks through it will suffer harsh penalties." he gnashed his teeth. He exhaled deeply and said, "If she did, her hand was intended to be covered with blood, and the maid already died a lo
It was finally the day that Luna and her conspirators had longed for. The day Freya will be executed. She was carried out of her cell and dressed in a long, ragged robe that made her feel uneasy. Even though she is a rogue, she has not worn such attire for once; Flarry had made sure she looked tidy like the Princess that she was. In order to see the execution, the entire pack assembled outside the palace. After being gently led to the execution site, Freya was restrained to a chair and unable to move. When she realized that Arthur was nowhere to be found and had come to see her die, she knew that he was embarrassed. "You do not even know who I am—I will not be murdered like my parents," she said to Arthur in her mind. Her legs were bound together, so the first thing done was to divide them with a thick rod. All she did was wince silently in pain while people watched. Those pains were way light compared to the ones she passed through when training as an assassin. There are rumors w
When Freya awoke, Arthur was soundly asleep beside her. She carefully got out of bed and slipped out of his room. It was calm around and it was dark, which meant that everyone was sleeping. After taking a quick look at her bandaged wound, she entered her room and took a seat on the bed. She grinned broadly, remembering how everything went according to plan with Flarry in the execution. “They must think that they have finally succeeded, not knowing that I am stronger than they think,” she muttered and heaved a big sigh of relief. A glance at the wall clock, it was past midnight. “I slept for hours? Did I faint or something?" she pursed her lips. While she lay in bed, she started to think back on what Arthur had told her. Everything that came out of his mouth seemed implausible, but given the way he has been treated as King and the nature of his rule, she could come to believe him. She sniffed and crossed her legs together. “His family was killed? And he was not meant to die with the
What scared Freya the most was that his breathing was not steady. Since Luna and the councils had ordered her to stay within the palace for whatever reason, the doctor has not returned yet, and she does not know of any doctor in the area. She was afraid, but not of the councils' fury; rather, she was afraid because she would not want him to pass away that way. She leaned against his room wall and stared at his face, finding it difficult to grin. Tears gathered in her eyes multiple times, but she held them up. "Please get up from there; this is not the time to cry. Once I get the royal file, you may go to hell." she thought and scratched her head. Turning to her left, she saw Elora glaring at her. Was she meant to be angry with her or sympathetic to Alphas' condition? “Looks like she planned it and I ruined it. But why? Didn't she promise to terminate her plans?” Freya gasped and looked away. Elora touched her shoulder with a little smile, striving to concentrate on herself. "Thank
