Chapter 5

Thinking she heard Elliott incorrectly, Summer asked, "Sir, are you sure you want them all? We can't get ahold of the stock abroad, but we can bring over the ones within the country. However, there are only 50 pairs in all of Cavaria."

"50 pairs?" Elliott repeated with a frown. "Fine, that works. I'll take them all."

Ivan scoffed and asked, "Why are you trying to talk big when you don't have any money, Elliott? Do you know how much money 50 pairs cost?"

Chuckling derisively, Anne chimed in, "Precisely! 50 pairs, huh? Hurry up and run the figures for him. Let's see how much it costs. It'll be more than what he can possibly earn after making a decade's worth of deliveries!"

Summer brought out a calculator and quickly summed it up. "Sir, we can give you an additional discount for 50 pairs, so it comes out to 8,000 dollars a pair. That'll be a total of 400,000 dollars for 50 pairs."

"Why bother with the additional discount? Are you looking down on me? Just charge me the original price of 9,888 dollars, which comes out to 494,400 dollars," Elliott said.

He wanted to spend as much as he could from the Conquest Fund, so the discounts were only making things harder for him.

"What?"

Summer was completely floored. Other customers would do whatever they could for even a one percent discount, but Elliott was flat-out asking to pay the original price. What was he doing?

It was her first time hearing such a peculiar request.

The other three sales assistants started whispering as they watched in amusement.

"Look at him trying his hardest to flex just to get with a woman."

"Sure, it feels great to put on airs and act like a big shot, but how long can he keep it up? Just wait. Let's see how he's going to pay the bill."

"You got that right. He's going to end up revealing his true colors soon enough."

Ivan and Anne were also waiting to see Elliott make a mockery out of himself. However, Selena knew Elliott was not kidding around. He could afford this. She saw the 200 million dollars he had in his bank account.

"You don't need to get me that many pairs, Eli," Selena urged. "I can't possibly wear them all, and I'd like to switch it up, too, you know. I can't be wearing the same model of canvas shoes all year round."

After hearing that, Ivan, Anne, and the three sales assistants began to eye Elliott in derision even more. Clearly, they assumed Selena was just trying to help him out of a tough spot.

Elliott turned around and patted Selena's hand, saying, "You're right, Lena. There's no point in buying so many pairs. Summer, do you guys have membership cards here?"

"We do, sir," Summer replied.

"Alright, then. Set up a membership card with a million dollars in credit for Ms. Witt here," Elliott declared. "This way, she can drop by the boutique and pick up any bag, shoes, or clothes she fancies when she feels like it."

Thrilled, Summer immediately said, "Of course. I'll get it done right away. Please make payment here, sir."

"Got it."

Elliott pulled up the banking application on his phone and brought up a QR code to make the payment.

Summer glanced at the application. It wasn't familiar to her, so she asked, "What bank is that? Will the payment go through?"

Ivan and Anne both scurried over to take a look as well. What banking application was Elliott using? They had never seen it before.

The three sales assistants were also giggling on the side. He was finally forced to drop the act, huh?

"Scan the code and find out for yourself," Elliott replied.

What a joke that was! Was she seriously asking whether the VVIP Obsidian Card created by the system could be used to pay for this purchase?

Feeling rather doubtful, Summer scanned the QR code. Immediately, the device beeped to confirm that the transaction had gone through.

Ivan, Anne, and the three sales assistants were all flabbergasted. Even Summer was stunned.

None of them thought the banking application they had never seen before could actually be used to make a million dollars in payment.

After getting over her initial shock, Summer quickly completed the process of creating the membership card.

Then, she held it out respectfully to Selena and said, "Here's your membership card, Ms. Witt. But it won't be a problem even if you come to the boutique without it. You can simply tell us your name and number to confirm your identity and access the funds.

"Also, as this is our Supreme VIP card, you will receive a 30% discount for all items."

Selena accepted the card happily. It basically gave her access to a million dollars! Elliott just spent a million dollars on her at the drop of a hat. It was indeed incredible to hook up with a rich man.

"Conquest Target Selena Witt gains 40 affection points for a present total of 80 affection points."

Her Host Affection Level had gone up another 40 points, reaching a total of 80 points. That was akin to them being a regular couple.

Selena was a smart woman. She knew she couldn't just keep taking without giving anything in return. Only by doing her share of the giving from time to time could she keep a man's affection and loyalty.

But of course, a woman's means of giving could come in the form of love, material things, or even the offering of something precious to her.

At the same time, despite knowing that Anne was now Elliott's ex, Selena also knew he had pursued Anne for over three years. There had to be some feelings involved in their relationship, so now was the time for Selena to stake her claim on Elliott in front of Anne.

Right there in public, she grabbed Elliott's arm and gave him a kiss.

Elliott felt his cheeks grow warm when he realized Selena had just kissed him. It seemed like men had to be careful in public, too. Selena had just kissed him without any warning! He couldn't let that slide without doing anything. He had to kiss her right back.

Seeing the indication of 80 points that was hanging over Selena's head, Elliott confirmed that she had some feelings for him. Thus, he calmly cupped her face and kissed her on the forehead.

She blushed in embarrassment, but she felt giddy at the same time.

Elliott was also pleased to put on a show of affection in front of Anne. Unsurprisingly, Anne's feathers were indeed ruffled. She was so furious that she had a scowl on her face.

Meanwhile, Ivan looked on and wondered what the big deal was about a kiss. Everyone knew how to kiss.

Taking a leaf out of Elliott's book, he cupped Anne's face to try and kiss her forehead as well, but she shoved him away and questioned, "What are you doing? We're in public!"

Ivan was confused. What was up with her?

"Let's kiss, too, Anne!"

"You can kiss my ass!" Anne fumed.

She felt utterly humiliated today. Ivan wasn't even willing to buy her a pair of shoes, but Elliott just gave Selena a million dollars in credit on her membership card.

Comparison was the thief of joy. Now that Anne had something to compare to, she could see that Elliott and Ivan were worlds apart.

Selena looked at the disgruntled Anne in amusement. Elliott had spent over three years trying to win her heart. He had been nothing but loyal in his feelings for her, and he was even a wealthy heir to boot.

However, she looked down on him and cheated on him with Ivan, who wasn't all that well-off, either.

Anne had to be blind!

That being said, Selena was also glad that Elliott never revealed his true identity to Anne. Otherwise, she wouldn't have given up on him so easily.

Selena knew she struck gold by landing herself such a rich guy.

The three sales assistants who'd been watching on the sidelines were also beside themselves with regret. Sales assistants got 5% in commission when customers added credit to their membership cards.

In other words, Summer was getting 50,000 dollars from completing the transaction of a million dollars. That was a small fortune as well.

"I can't believe it! You really shouldn't judge a book by its cover, after all!"

"Who the hell would've guessed that someone that rich would work as a delivery guy? Damn it!"

"I'm having a fucking breakdown right now. I'm never going to judge someone based on their appearance ever again!"

All three of them quietly bemoaned the situation. Unfortunately for them, there was no room for regrets in life. They couldn't do anything except watch as the new trainee earned 50,000 dollars.

Elliott looked at the infuriated Anne and remarked, "Anne, I thought you guys were shopping for shoes, too? You should check out the models.

"Gucci does a pretty good job with their shoes. I noticed that Ivan didn't seem willing to pay for the shoes just now. It's not because he can't afford them, right?"
