Kierra's POV
Kenvy has changed a lot. The city was busy, there were more skyscrapers now compared to when I left. Kenvy is a beautiful place and it even looks more magnificent now. The fresh air reminded me of my childhood memories but this was where I lost a part of me, my happiness.
While in kenvy I decided to lodge in a hotel first before getting myself an apartment.
After I settled in on Sunday evening. I prepared myself for work the following day. I didn't want to arrive late. That will speak badly of me.
I began unpacking my things. My attention fell on the locket, I stared at it for a while before returning it to a small pocket beside my bag.
"Kierra! Don't get carried away, report to work first, and then the hunt will begin," I told myself
I have sworn that nothing was going to jeopardize my revenge plan. I came back to Kenvy for a purpose and I wouldn't leave until I achieved it.
I slept off on the couch watching T.V. When I woke up it was past 5 am, perfect timing to awaken and start the day.
I brushed my teeth, took a shower, and dried my hair. I wasn't the make-up type. I have never been one.
I wore a white shirt, a black skirt that reached my knee and a black coat. I needed to look professional for my first day at work.
The taxi dropped me in front of the building, it was massive. A&D communications had a high taste in appearance. Everything you laid your eyes on starting from the entrance was expensive and eye-catching.
I went straight to the reception. The receptionist told me to wait in the hallway so that she would inform me if it was my turn.
After thirty minutes she directed me to use the elevator to get to the 11th floor. She said the first room by my left was the room I was going to report.
I knocked and a male voice told me to come in.
A man possibly in his fifties, motioned me to take a seat after I introduced myself to him. He collected my file, asked questions, and congratulated me.
He called a lady to show me to my office. It was indeed a great place to be.
The lady introduced herself as Menessa, the boss's secretary. She welcomed me and told me I'll enjoy working in the firm.
Menessa was a short lady of about 5ft 2 inches but in heels, she was almost my height. She was very carefree, she informed me that I'll have to work for two weeks without meeting the boss. That he had traveled for a business meeting.
I was okay with it. By the way, I was here to work, not to see the Boss.
My office wasn't bad, I couldn't believe I would be enjoying Kenvy already.
I sat on the chair and swung around enjoying the view as I liked what I saw. Now I had to settle down here as fast as possible and begin carrying out my plan.
I know no one in this city, so first things first, let's make friends.
****
It has already been one week since I started working in this company. I'll say not bad but the job was tasking. I had so much work to do. My desk was a mess.
I had to pick up my clothes from the dry cleaner's place by 1 pm today. It's already 12:30 pm So this means I had to leave the office in a few minutes and return later to continue my work.
I got my clothes and returned to the new apartment that I got two days ago. I got back by past 2 pm and I continued to sort out the documents.
I think I got exhausted and fell asleep because when I woke up, it was already 8 pm.
I heard the last accountant who worked here resigned,
"Was it the tedious task that made him or her leave?" I thought
"Well I am going to survive it," I cheered myself up.
I picked up my coat and bag and headed for the elevator. I noticed the light to Menessa's office was left on.
I wondered if she was also working this late or if she forgot to switch the lights off.
I walked to her office and knocked on the door. I could hear a heartbeat from where I stood. I knew someone was in there and I think it was Menessa. I turned back to leave but the door opened behind me.
I turned to see Menessa smiling, and I also smiled.
"What are you still doing here," she asked
"I dozed off" I answered
"Do you work at night too?" I asked her
"Yes my dear, our boss is back. He cancelled some of his engagements. So he had to check up on something in his office." Menessa spoke looking towards an office she once showed me to be the Boss's office.
"But he told me to meet him downstairs in five minutes," she added.
"Oh so he's returned a week early," I thought
"Being a secretary isn't easy right, you go where the boss goes?" I replied winking at her
She lets out a loud laugh.
We used the elevator together. She said she wanted to go to the parking lot to check if he was there since he wasn't in the lobby.
"Are you ladies looking for me?" A man's voice asked as I turned to check who it was.
Let me be damned." Aden! I thought he was dead." I screamed in my mind. I was taken aback, I think my heart stopped beating for a while.
"Hey Kierra," Menessa jerked me back to the present.
"This is our Boss, the CEO of A&D communication" Menessa introduced him to me. He had four hefty men in tuxedos behind him, I think they were his watchdogs.
With trembling hands, I took his hands for a shake.
"Kierra, we meet again," he said to me
"Do you two know each other?" Menessa asked looking surprised
I was speechless, I was wrapping my head around how someone who was pronounced dead ten years ago could come back to life…
Aden's POV I have never joked with my gut feelings. It's there for a reason. So I don't overlook it. I knew something was going on in Borgn that was linked to Vampires. It was clear for anyone with eyes to see. Unless people in Borgn were trying to cover it up because they didn't want everyone to think an impending war was on the way. By the way, we werewolves don't bite that way, we ain't bloodsuckers. When we bite, we bite to kill and that's in our werewolf form. Another reason for a werewolf to bite is to mark his mate of course. "How do I know this much?" Cassel asked me right after what happened to Helena in the woods. After Helena came back home that fateful day looking terrified. Cassel finally picked interest in the V word. I know he one day would. It's just unfortunate Helena had to get hurt before he listened. Who wouldn't after a loved one gets attacked? "I used to read a lot when I was younger. If I wasn't playing with Argon, my twin brother, I would be in my father
Kierra's POV I wasn't emotionally ready for what I saw yesterday. When I saw him, I think my heart stopped beating back there. I had seen someone who was supposed to be dead. "But how?" I asked myself. Was I given the wrong information then? It had to be, I shook Aden's hands yesterday. He was standing right in front of me. He was real. I couldn't forget the way he looked at me yesterday. I have never felt so weak under someone's gaze. The way he called my name was so natural and sweet. Did he know I had applied to work in his firm? He didn't look surprised to see me. I hope I get to see him alone and ask him questions I need to find answers to. He had to explain to me what triggered and who helped spread the rumor of his death. And most importantly, he might have had an idea or must have heard stories related to my family's demise. I could use his help to search for answers. But I had to stop myself from thinking we were going to be as close as we were in the past… "Kierra, Ade
Aden's POV Back in the woods. I felt that we were being watched. I could hear a person's heartbeat but it was faint. The person must have been watching us from afar and the tall trees gave whoever it was a perfect shield. We were on our way back home when we heard an almost deafening sound. It was the car tires. "What the heck was that," Cassel yelled "I think we just stepped on corks" uncle Tim responded Before we knew what was happening our car went off the road. Uncle Tim was trying to bring the situation under control by driving the car to a safe spot. "Hey guys, I think we have got company," Brad yelled from behind the truck A dozen guys came after us. Before we could get out of the car. They were already onto us. I couldn't understand why these guys were charging at us. Then I remembered the faint heartbeat I heard in the woods. A thought crossed me " Seems the person spying on us in the woods has alerted the others" The three of us got out of the car to get ready to f
Aden's POV It's been a long time since I was involved in a fight. The last fight I had was with the Borgn's clan beta Brad. He challenged me to a fight a year ago and I defeated him. I was almost made the Beta of the clan then, but I turned it down. I told Alpha Carl it wasn't my ambition. Brad was a narrow-minded guy, he had a temper that made him blind to see reasons whenever he was angry. Many say he isn't worthy of being a Beta because of some of his scandalous habits. He was a great gambler. People say he started gambling and drinking after he lost his father. Although his mom is alive and well. Instead of getting worked up by her son's attitude she usually spends her day at the clinic. His father was the beta to the Borgn clan before he died and his mum was a nurse, a salutary werewolf (a herbal wolf that takes care of the ill and injured). Brad's father died when he was seventeen. It was an unfortunate incideng. One faithful day, the Borgn Clan were attacked by rogue w
Kierra's POVAs I walked toward the Boss's office my heart was beating so fast. It seemed like it was going to explode."Be calm Kierra. It's probably just a harmless meeting" I encouraged myself In my wildest dream I never knew I would be faced with such a circumstance—Seeing Aden again face to face. I don't think I have enough courage to contain both my excitement and disbelief. "What was he going to say? What will I say? Should I hug him to show how relieved I am that he's alive? Will he want us back as we used to? What if he has a mate now?" These questions ran through my mind. Another thought came to me, it sounded like the werewolf part of me was warning me." Kierra, you don't need to show those emotions. You will look too cheap and will make it seem you are drooling over him. Keep your shoulders high. By the way, you need to be angry instead of being happy. If he was alive all these years why didn't he search for you. I doubt if he loves you anymore"I kept a neutral face
Aden's POV"Let me go…""Or I'll kill you all"She made an awful screech the moment I blew garlic powder at her.She was calm at once, her vampire traits were making it difficult for us to control her. Her body was still not used to the changes taking place. It was obvious she was hungry for blood. It's been four days since we captured her from the woods. The rogue werewolf was also under captivity and apprehended in a cell. He has refused to say a word.Alpha Carl has decided to hold the interrogation today. We observed that Mary usually has a switch in personality. She becomes wild when her vampire instinct is dominant and she becomes more friendly when her wolf instinct is dominant. It was a battle between two powerful traits.Mary goes out of control whenever she craves blood. That was why she attacked us back in the woods, we met her in a wild state. Hunger! It's very possible the blood she might have gotten from her sister's body and other small animals she could find may not
Kierra's POV "You should have stayed back" The stranger's words were ringing in my head. I needed to meet this man again. The sense of trying to figure out what he knew, what secrets were lurking around was eating me up. I knew I was special. My uncle always mentions it. But he warned me to try to be normal as best as possible. When I was eight I discovered I could lift a rock the size of our house with my bare hands. I could cause a tree to fall by just striking its trunk. I could run very fast and at eleven, shockingly I could absorb another wolf's energy making me even more powerful. Uncle said I have these powers because I am a Primordial werewolf. In fact, I am the last of them. He never spoke about my parents, he never told me how they both died. He only kept on emphasizing that I had to live like other werewolves. That I had to hide my powers. He didn't reveal much to me about them or the Primordials. At age eleven I was almost kidnapped at my old school. This was the
Aden's POVThe thought of a helpless Mary slain by the rogue wolf was something I wanted to erase from my memory.Although we didn't know what we were going to do with Mary after the Interrogation, it was certainly not to kill her.It was obvious the rogue we captured was scared of the Moonking. And he knew the consequences he will face if Mary was to spill more of what she knew. From his last words, before he killed himself, it looked like he was threatened. I think the pack of rogue werewolves were threatened. Probably they were told if she was found she should be killed and finished her off like the others before her. Logically thinking about how Moonking has been killing. I will say Moonking was cleaning up his mess. When he bit his victims, he decapitated them to prevent them from rising again. From all indications, it seems he wants to be the only hybrid. "What is he really scared of?" I thoughtHe doesn't let them go after the bite. This hybrid needs blood to survive, but
