REGINA

It had been a while since I saw that cheerful, friendly part of Ryker. At this point, all I could think was that Ryker didn’t deserve the stress he was going through worrying about me and a marriage that wasn’t supposed to happen.

We continued having fun while it lasted even all through breakfast. Lionel had not shown up and that was just great. He didn’t need to turn up and ruin the moment. After breakfast, I called Gwen for a meetup. The honeymoon was going to come faster than I was thinking, especially now that Grandpa had seen he had Lionel’s approval. I was really going to miss Gwen if she wasn’t going to follow us.

Skip to when I had asked her.

“What? No way!” Gwen had remarked. I and Gwen sat together at one of our favorite spots that afternoon munching cakes.

“Oh, Gwen. I’m trying to imagine what it would be like being with just Lionel. I feel like it’s going to be a disaster.”

“Well, definitely, I won’t lie to

REGINAJust as I had subconsciously thought, there wasn’t much information on them. I basically found the same things the priest had said—they were an awkward breed of people that lived deep in the mountains in the Maldives. They were a special breed of wolf clan that honored the idea of not getting polluted by the precepts of modernity. There was also an illustration of the mountain they were believed to be living in alongside other pictures and illustrations that suggested what they were like. Basically, they were Asians with bald heads and dressed in red scarves. They were humans. Things could not get any worse than that. Then there was the most daunting part—the reason they are believed to be myths—they will only come to you if they want to be found. You could not find them. What if they don’t want me to find them eventually? I decided not to conclude just yet and instead give myself the benefit of doubt. Shortly after, I eventually fell as

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    About Last Night

LIONELI had come at the perfect time to call off Regina’s move at cancelling the idea of the honeymoon and pouring fuel on fire. Still, I could see the shock on their faces, looking at how I had suddenly changed my mind. I had to make it sound even more convincing and of course, there was one way to see to that - draw Regina closer. I could feel her discomfort and fear at my sudden actions. I was equally uncomfortable with having to place my arm around her waist and draw her close. It was fine, though. It was only for this one time and I promised it would never happen again. Good enough, it worked out just fine and Regina played along just right. Shortly after, she came to me just as I had expected, asking for answers to my sudden change of mind and of course, there was the perfect answer already waiting. Further confusion. I could see she was lost, unsure of what I had in mind. Fortunately for her, I had no actua

LIONELThe conversation between I and Ryker continued. We laughed. “Not really used to not having you around the house.”I nodded humorously. “Come to think of it, I’ve never actually gone for such a holiday, nor have I even worked myself either. What have I been doing with my life all the while?”Ryker laughed as he caught the humor. “Being there for me and Grandpa.” He replied. I nodded now and it all fell quiet. Then he made his way out. At this point, I found myself wishing the terms of this marriage had been totally different and that things didn’t have to turn out the way they did. Imagine not pretending about the feelings I felt. My life would have been all perfect. Now, I felt like I was definitely scamming Ryker and Grandpa and it was only a matter of time before they both realized that I was just waiting for the right moment to get rid of Regina. The next morning, just as Grandpa had said, everythi

REGINA The first person I called as soon as I touched the grounds of Asia was Gwen. “Are you seriously telling me you’re now in Asia?” She was too excited to even remember the circumstances that had brought me here. “Here I am, dear.” I replied. “Really wish you were here.”“You’ll be doing just great. Dropped by at your place today to see your dad. He doesn’t appear to be doing as well as he sounds without you around.”I laughed. “Dad will do fine. He just got used to having me around so he forgot all his friends. He’d be back to his normal life soon.”“How would the touring be carried out?” Gwen asked. “Don’t know. I think Grandpa has it all planned out.” I replied. Behind my mind, I remembered my real purpose of coming. “It’s going to be a great time.”“And Lionel?“I knew she’d ask. “Well, he’s practically acting like I don’t exist, which is great because I’m doing just the same and wishing for

LIONELI found it funny to see that she was already sound asleep, right on the bed. She was folded to one corner of the bed, almost like she knew it wasn’t like home where I could make for myself a bed on the bare floor. We both had to use the bed and she had reserved an island of space for me to occupy without being anywhere close. Not a bad idea. I made my way to the bed as I dried my body. I made myself comfortable in a pair of briefs and slid into the mattress. Like Regina, I ensured I kept to my extreme corner such that just enough space lay between us. That way, it made it easier to be convinced I was sleeping alone. The night went by as quickly as it would have when there wasn’t enough time to rest after so long of bad sleeping patterns. What had woken me up was the ring of my cellphone. Grandpa. I figured I hadn’t called the previous night. As I picked up the call now, I noticed Regina was not in the room. She had pr

LIONEL“What pair?” I tried to peer into the darkness, using the beams of light handing around the beach. Your wife and her new friend. I spotted them just then. Regina and the man from the cafeteria. They were both standing by the water, looking out into the ocean. The man seemed to be saying something as he pointed out to the horizon while Regina laughed. “Excuse me, who’s this dude?” I asked in irritation. Once again, he had suddenly popped up, making Regina all cheerful. I would have asked the same thing. Lucius replied. He’s making it easier for her to simply forget us and move on. I paused. “Wasn’t that the plan? Have Regina and I go out separate ways and never have to feel like the other person existed?“ I thought. And do you plan to make it all so easy? Lucius asked. That’s not how it works, Lionel, and you know about it. Now, when I first set eyes on her, I knew who she was. I knew she

REGINAIt clicked. I definitely wanted to see the mountains. “Are you alone? You could use a tour guide.”I chuckled, wanting to answer the “are you alone” part first but not sure of what I was supposed to say exactly. It was just then that I spotted Lionel as he walked into the cafeteria and in that split second of laying my eyes on him, I looked away, knowing our eyes met. Who cared? He wasn’t even there for me. I looked back at the young man and smiled. “Of course, I could use a tour guide.” I replied. He chuckled. “Then it’s probably time to do the formalities. I’m Ray.” He stretched out a hand. “Regina!” I received the handshake, wondering the last time I ever told someone my name. I realized just then how few the friends I had were. REGINARay was so busy talking and chatting happily that he did not notice me being calm in the bus. After spotting Lionel in the bus, I made my way to the seat at the front part, just where our tour guide was positioned, giving broken-down details of the ride. I knew by the time the tour began and I and Ray were discussing, it would be difficult to pick out our conversation. Plus, there were other people in the bus—an old man and his wife and two chit-chatty friends—that were already talking non-stop from the moment we stepped into the bus. There were other touring instructions given and then the bus began its way into the forest with the tour guide already giving her talks, all friendly and joyful.“For a researcher like me, I found this totally fun. You may not find it fun because this isn’t exactly the tourist attraction here in the Maldives, but it is stacked with details of things that you definitely don’t want to miss out on.” Ray was sayi

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Where I Belong

REGINA I made my way to Marcy’s room shortly after seeing Lionel. She looked so small lying there, her face pale but serene. Her hands rested on her swollen belly protectively, even in her sleep. My heart clenched at the sight of her. The sister I had thought I’d lost forever was here again, and despite everything we had endured, there was hope. Then I thought of the tragedy that had befallen her—of Silas and everything else. Victor had indeed taken more than we could imagine. “Marcy,” I whispered as I approached her bed. Her eyes fluttered open, groggy but quickly filling with recognition. “Regina?” she murmured, her voice hoarse. I nodded, tears already welling up. “It’s me.” She eased into a smile. “I just knew you could do it. I just knew you could. You’ve always been just too strong.” I laughed as I planted a kiss on her forehead. “How’s the b

LIONEL The first thing I noticed was the sterile smell of antiseptic. My body felt heavy, but the softness of the hospital bed was comforting. Slowly, I blinked my eyes open. Regina’s face came into focus. Her hair was slightly disheveled, dark circles shadowed her eyes, but she was the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen. Her hand rested on mine, her touch grounding me. “Lionel,” she whispered, her voice filled with relief and tenderness. Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned closer. “You’re awake.” I managed a weak smile. “Hey…” Before I could say more, Grandpa appeared by her side, his face a mixture of concern and relief. Ryker and Gwen were there too, their expressions lighter than I’d seen in days. “You gave us quite the scare, kid,” Grandpa said, his gruff tone unable to mask the emotion in his voice. “Victor?” I rasped, the memories of the fight f

REGINA “No,” I whispered, cradling Lionel closer. His breathing was shallow, his usually vibrant eyes clouded with pain. Victor stood a few paces away, lowering his weapon with a chilling casualness. “You should've just cooperated with the plan, Regina.” He chuckled disdainfully. “You and that pathetic excuse of an alpha.” “Don’t you dare!” Marcy’s voice cut through the tension, and I turned just in time to see her charging at Victor. “Marcy, no!” I screamed, but it was too late. Victor swatted her away like she was nothing, sending her flying into the side of the truck. She hit the metal with a sickening thud, collapsing in a heap. My mouth dropped open, my scream coming uncontrollably. “Stay down, girl,” Victor sneered, turning his attention back to me. I froze, my arms tightening protectively around Lionel. Every instinct screamed at me to fight, but my b

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Let’s End This

REGINA I and Marcy had been together in the room, waiting, when we heard the sounds of the war going on outside the building. Lionel was here. At first, a feeling of joy and assurance rushed to me, but almost immediately, a certain panic rushed through me when we had waited for quite long enough and Lionel was yet to show up. “Are you sure he’s still okay?” Marcy asked, the fear in her voice evident. “He is okay.” I replied with all certainty. “Nothing could happen to Lionel!” Then the men suddenly stormed in, barking orders. Marcy and I rose hastily and followed the men down the corridors, all the way to the back of the warehouse. Soon, we were out in the dark and there was nothing but the dim lights of the moon to guide us through. I could still hear the faint buzz of war on the other far end of the building. Axel led the group of Victor’s men, his expression unreadable, but

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Final Confrontation

LIONEL His taunting words drove me mad, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me fall apart. I clenched my jaw, focusing on my breathing as I adjusted my stance, preparing for the next round. But Victor wasn’t done. He was playing with me, like a predator toying with its prey. He danced just out of reach, circling me, his every movement calculated, precise. “You know, Lionel,” he began. “I’ve always admired your strength. But strength doesn’t mean anything when it’s built on lies. Your so-called ‘perfect love’ with Regina? It’s a joke. You’re both weak, just like your parents were. Too sentimental. Too tied down by your pathetic little bond.” His words struck harder than any blow he could throw, reminding me of all the mistakes I’d made, of all the things I’d failed to protect. The past kept clawing at me, refusing to let go. I roared in fury, charging toward him once more, but this time, I cou

LIONEL All I needed was a location and just that, Arturo had provided. Another site, another holding of Victor’s. Even if it meant going to a hundred locations this same night, as long as I was not dead, I was going to set my eyes on Regina and there was nothing that could be done to change that. As we drew closer to the warehouse where Regina was supposedly held, we knew better than to just storm our way in. We needed to maintain a low profile. The warehouse loomed ahead, its corrugated metal walls dull and rusted under the dim glow of the moonlight. A faint chill ran down my spine as I scanned the perimeter. This was the place. I could feel it in my gut. Regina was inside, and I wasn’t leaving without her. Ryker crouched beside me, his face set in grim determination. Arturo and his men from the Eric Circle pack fanned out behind us, their movements silent and purposeful. Each of them carried

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Marcy’s Story

REGINA “You already know how it started,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I refused to marry Lionel. I couldn’t. Not when my heart belonged to Silas.” I nodded, memories of that time flashing through my mind. Marcy had always been the rebellious one, the sister who defied tradition and sought her own path. “When I ran away with Silas, we thought we’d left everything behind,” she continued, her voice growing steadier. “We crossed borders, traveling from pack to pack, always looking over our shoulders. But eventually, we found a place where we could be safe, a small pack in a distant country. It was nothing like home, but it was ours. We built a life there, Regina. A happy life.” Her lips quivered, and I could see the love she still held for Silas shining in her eyes, even through her grief. “We planned to come back one day,” she said, her voice cracking. “To face

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Sister Sister

REGINA I awoke slowly. “Regina?” The voice echoed in my head, but the familiarity could not be mistaken. I knew I was captured again; alone, with no one to protect me, my heart aching in ways I couldn't even put into words. This time, not just for my own mistakes, but for my sister’s life as well. “Marcy…” I cried quietly. How? I lay on the cold, unforgiving floor of the dimly lit room, the rough stone scraping against my skin. The chains around my wrists felt heavier than ever, and my heart felt heavier still. It wasn’t just the physical pain that gnawed at me—it was the emotional torment of seeing my sister’s frightened eyes, the same eyes I remembered from our childhood, filled with so much terror. "Regina?" Marcy’s voice broke through the silence. Her voice was hoarse, trembling, as though she too couldn’t find the words to express th

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    The Art of Escaping

REGINA I could feel the cold metal of the handcuffs biting into my skin as the car jolted over uneven terrain. Victor’s grip on my life—on everything I cared about—was suffocating, his constant presence a reminder of just how trapped I truly was. Axel was beside me, silent, but I could feel his gaze flicking over me like a hawk, calculating and waiting for any sign of weakness. But I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break. Victor had been playing a game with Lionel. Each move designed to frustrate, each location a new dead end. I could tell it was wearing on him. His anger had become more pronounced, his impatience clearer. But it wasn’t just about the hunt anymore—it was about power, and I was the key to it all. The car slowed as we turned onto a dirt road, the thud of the tires against the gravel echoing in the small space. The lights outside flickered and then dimmed. I didn’t know where we were going this time,
