Chapter 86: A night out

Hayley's POV

"I-I'm fine," I tried to stay composed but my voice betrayed me, breaking in the process. And before I knew it, my eyes were glistening with tears. Oh fuck! I attempted to walk away, but Marcelo's hand intercepted me and before I could say Jack Robinson, he pulled me into a warm embrace.

"Come here," he whispered, his deep voice making me shudder slightly. "What's wrong? You can talk to me." Marcelo's hand wrapped around me in a comforting manner, his free hand stroking my hair.

His soothing voice brought more tears to my eyes, and I let myself cry despite feeling embarrassed. He stood there with me for a moment until I was done and I disconnected from the hug, cleaning my eyes, my cheeks turning warm as a result of his intense gaze.

"I-I'm sorry about that. I promise I'm not always a cry baby," I apologized with a chuckle, averting my gaze and in a hurry, walked past him to the living room.
