Sandra

Cornerstone  high school was  overcrowded with many pupils. News travelled fast that Jake and I were a couple even as we were not. I felt offended. I mean what was there to like about the guy? He was a snob and he wasn't that hot as some of the girls said. It was embarrassing how they would drool over him... I didn't understand what they saw there.

I admit, Jake and I had made it a habit to walk at the school premises together. We ate together during lunch and even went to the school library together.  Perhaps that's why people considered us a couple. Well I was uncomfortable with that, neither was Peter..I think. He was growing distant from us. And that was worrying me

"I managed to get three tickets to see the famous Hayden that you've been telling me about." Said Jake, placing the tickets on the table.

I was filled with so much excitement that I screamed out loud without intending to do so. I had such a big crush on Hayden. My favourite musician of all times.

"Oh my God. How did you, I thought they were all sold out." I asked, curious.

Jake fixed his posture and raised his chin up. I felt slightly annoyed by that.

"I have plenty of friend's." The snob answered with confidence eminating from his voice. I could see Peter was annoyed. I couldn't keep in in anymore. I didn't know what to make of his agitating behaviour.

"What's wrong with you?" I blurted out.

Peter eyed me for a while.

"Nothing." He replied, his voice laced with doubt.

"No. I don't believe that. Did Jake and I do something offensive to you?"

"Of course not."

Peter stood from his chair and grabbed his backpack.

"You guys have fun at the concert, I have other plans on that day."

I was surprised. This was the first time Peter walked away from a grande opportunity.

"But you seemed very excited about it. You said you'd be free on the day of the concert."

"I know what I said. I hadn't bought any tickets because I was planning to be there. Now if you excuse me. Jess needs me."

I watched as my friend walk away. Jake looked at me with pity.

"I wanted us to watched the Hayden concert together with him..." I said.

Jake drove me to my place. I was relieved that classes for the day had ended, Moreover because I was finally at home.

"Don't worry too much about Peter. He's probably stressing about Jess." The snob assured me, just before driving away.

My body felt heavy, so was my brain. I was starting to worry about my friend. Being that stressed about Jess was turning him into a monster or maybe it was because he just loved her too much and afraid that he was going to lose her. But again that would be impossible. The last time we saw her, she was better. She didn't show signs of dangerous injury. She had healed.

Jake

I couldn't believe Sandra actually accepted to go with me to the concert. Things were turning really smooth on my side. We were growing closer and closer. However there was something disturbing me. I had sensed something bad from Peter. There was something different about him. He had a scent that reminded me of someone, wait it was Jess. Had they been running against one another? It was possible.  Anyway, they were probably a thing by then. If only he knew what Jess was. I wish I could tell him, she was a witch. But I know  no one would believe me. I needed evidence to prove it. But for now all I wanted to do was to reminisce about Sandra. She had somehow became my addiction. Yet she didn't know.

As I was taking a much needed swim in the pool, I heard a noise. Someone was at the gate. I lifted my body out of that water..  My heart was pounding. I was ready to kill. But then I realised from the scent that it was a friendly. Paul walked to my direction. I stood my ground. Like a dog waiting steadily to see him.

"Your senses are improving." Said the coach.

"There was nothing wrong with them." I spoke defensively.

"I meant while you're inside the water. You're dripping. Here!" Paul threw me a towel and I began to wipe off all the water from my body.

Paul chuckled.

"You know it's good that you're making steps to improve in your senses."

Was he complimenting me? Wow. That's a first.

"Well I want to be strong enough to protect Sandra when she gets in trouble one day." I said boldly.

Coach raised an eyebrow..

"Protect her from what?"

I did not want to make it into an issue but I had to be sure Sandra was going to be safe. I needed that assurance.

"Her friend, Peter. He's dating the Winslow daughter." I blurted out.

"As in the witch family?"

I nodded.

"Why didn't you tell me this before. Where does he live?"

"What do you want to do to him?"

"Tell him what Jess is all about." Said the coach.

"But telling him alone won't be enough. He will need prove. Peter is an assertive guy. I've hanged out with him a couple of times. Evidence matters more to him than anything else."

"Well we can't stand here and do nothing."

Paul was right. I couldn't just stand there and worry. We had to do something.

I grabbed my phone and made some calls on my phone. Since this was a human settlement. Howling in the neighborhood during the day was risky. It would expose our kind. I grabbed something decent to wear. A Jean, a vest and some sneakers were just about right. The entire pack members arrived a few minutes later at the house. Paul was the one to make the announcement since he was my father's beta.

Paul cleared his voice.

"I'm sorry to call you all like this. But this is an emergency and has to be dealt with tonight. There are rumours that Jess Winslow has recovered from her "accident". Which means she'll want to avenge herself or worse. Now a new problem has come forth. When our friends as well as family is threatened, we step in and protect them from harm. It is how we do thing's. It is in our nature to do so. A friend of the family is under threat. We believe that if we don't scare her off then she is likely to hurt our friend." Coach explained.

The werewolves began to look at one another in disbelief.

One of them whose name was Zachariah raised his hand.

"Who is this friend that you're referring to. Is she from another pack?" He asked.

Paul eyed me. I could see the tension he was feeling in his eyes alone.

"She's a human and I want her to be kept safe." I blurted out.

The werewolves looked at me with disgust and some were even complaining.

"Well in that case, I ask that I may not be involved in this madness. I refuse to betray the rules of our kind to gain favours." Said Zachariah.

The others agreed with him. But their reaction displeased coach more than it did me.

He growled angrily and the room was in silence

"This is not a discussion that you should debate on, it's not a request either. You will all participate in helping protect this human and reporting anything to me that needs to be told. You will do these things because Alpha Daniel is not here, but his beta is."  Paul pressed.

The werewolves stopped complaining. They all listened as Paul gave them instruction each on what they had to do. Each of us had a task to fulfil that for the evening of that day.

Sandra I found it hard to sleep without at least resolving things with Peter. We have always been close friends. I wondered what was happening to us. I didn't like how bad things were becoming. Our friendship was on rocky ice. It was unstable. I wondered if Jake was the culprit. But then again, how could he? He had been so kind to the both us. That he would even suggest that the three of us go and watch Hayden together. It just didnt make any sense. So if Jake wasn't the problem then who was? I wondered. Suddenly, I received a call. The number was blank. Out if curiousity. I decided to answer it. "Jake is not a good boy, he's an animal. He can be slaughtered easily, but we live forever." Said a voice, it sounded machine operated. I was shocked. I felt the need to contact the snob, can you imagine? I was surprised because he actually answered."Sandra, is that you?".I felt slightly irritable "Its a ghost from another planet." I teased.. Jake did not laugh but was silent. I cou

Peter I had been moody for some time. I didn't understand what was happening to me. Ever since Jess was in an accident, I had been stressed for her. I had always had a crush on her. She had that fire in her. The kind of strength that attracted me. She was of course attractive as well. I loved her brown eyes and her rustic her and that Rock and roll look she would put on. It suited her and that personality she had. But most of all I loved the fact that she was kind to others. When I found out that she was involved in helping at an old age home I was smitten. I knew that she was the one for me. A selfless beauty queen. I knew I had to make her mine. I didn't even have to confess my feelings for her. I just did good things for her.. then one day, she just kissed me and gave me a gift. A ring. She probably wanted me to think of it as a promise ring. I kept her word and kept it a secret from everyone to respect her wishes. Instead of putting it on my finger, I placed it around my neck for

SandraMy body was feeling strained because of all my long continuous thinking. I just couldn't stop worrying about Peter. He had been acting strange for weeks, withdrawing from our usual activities and spending more and more time with Jessica. Hold on! Ever since those two have started dating, Peter had been acting strange. I mean, I'm happy that they are a couple now, even as I've never seen them walk together in public. But it's unfair how the only friend I've ever known is treating me now. I don't know what could be the reason for his hatred towards me. You'd swear I did something. Or does he think I despise his girlfriend? Peter and I had always been very close. I could feel the tears in my eyes just thinking about what he and i used to do together. When i was 8 years old, my frog Alfie was murdered by one of the Finley sisters, Alice . She had made it seem like a mere accident but Peter had seen everything. Everyone was afraid of reporting Alice to the principal because she ha

Jess What had just happened? was the question running in my mind. I had done all according to how the ritual is said to be done. Peter was supposed to be obedient. My mother suddenly entered the living room. She was in awe, like me. "What was Peter doing here?" She asked. I could feel my body heating up. "He knows what I am!" I shouted. "What! How could he have known?" My mother shouted, angrily. "He caught me when I was trying to enchant him with a spell." I could see the disappointment in my mother's eyes "I can't believe this. Now I have to clean up for your mess, again!" She said. "You want to kill him?" I asked, worried. "Yes. If I don't. Everyone in this community will come for us and we will all be dead." Just then, George burst into the room, his face pale and his eyes wide with fear. "I just saw Peter driving away angrily. Are you having problems with him?" My father asked. "What did he say to you?" I asked, my heart racing."He said nothing. He looked at me

Sandra What is going on here? My heart wondered. I hadn't expected to see Jake until Monday. Moreover, seeing him with my mother was bizarre. Knowing her, she probably wanted to know more about Jake's background. Her smile made me even more uncomfortable. I wondered what kind of interrogation was taking place before I even stepped into the room. Alas, will her detective waging curiousity ever end? "Jake?" I exclaimed. The snob stared at me with a smile. He seemed uneasy, his right forefinger kept tapping. My mother however seemed calm and very proud. She was seated uprightly. "How come you never told me about how interesting your friend is. He's a really good role model for your peers." Said Estelle. I became even more worried. "Mom I hope you'll find everything you need in there. Jake let's go outside." I said, leaving the grocery bags on the table. My mother motioned that she was keeping her eye on me. I felt irritated by the notion. I led the snob away from the house as I c

JakeThe sun had just disappeared when I arrived back home. Somehow I had wished that my day with Sandra would never end. She's always been interesting. She unlike every other girl I've met, did not seem gullible and simple to throw herself at me. She was fierce as well as brave enough to speak her mind. I still can't believe we nearly kissed. I could hear the sound of her heartbeat. Her skin glowed so beautifully in the sun. I couldn't contain my yearning for her. I wanted a taste of her love. A kiss would unlock our feelings for each other but her heart would be a fine reward. As I was reminiscing about Sandra, i suddenly had footsteps approach the gate to the house. I looked at the camera screen and realised it was Paul. "What's he doing here?" I wondered. I unlocked the door with a remote control and headed downstairs to meet with the coach. He was relieved to see me, but I could sense there was more to his visit then meets the eye. "Make yourself at home!" I remarked. Coach m

PeterI had been trying to reach Sandra for two days but she never even returned any of my missed calls. I didn't blame her. That's what I deserved. Afterall I was rude to her and Jake. I had seen her at school but I tried to keep my distance as I was afraid of telling her what Jake was. It wasn't my place to do so especially because he was protective of her and knew more than I thought I knew. Things I thought I knew about Jess that were hidden from me. My head was able to reason better after I took out the necklace. But I still needed clarity, I needed answers as to why my girlfriend would keep her identity a secret from me. I approached my locker, eager to grab my books and attend the next class. But as I opened the door, i found a letter tucked inside. It was from Jess. My heart skipped a beat as I began to go through the word's written. "Hey. I'm sorry about the other day. I didn't mean to scare you off like that. I am a witch. Its a part of my family's history and I don't know

  • Loving The Alpha   Chapter 14

Jess It was around 3pm when one of the workers from the Winslow diner arrived with the order I had made. I had promised my mother I would pay her money by the end of the day and she knew I always delivered on my promises. Even though my parents had established their business many years ago, the goal remained the same. To make us look like a regular family instead of dangerous witches that do not mind using their powers to gain all the money they can. Hence we live in a mansion, instead of an ordinary all American shack. We had maintained this sort of lifestyle for many years and it worked wonders for us. I carefully and neatly set the table for the guests i had been expecting. I wondered if their hearts were as cruel as me. My conniving thoughts, were disturbed by a bell ringing. I lifted my hands and opened the door in open space. Witches didn't have to touch the doorknob to open. My three guests had finally arrived. I pulled out an apron from the drawer by the flip of my hand and

Sandra The night had been beautiful and full of surprises. I hadn't expected Jake to do all that he did but I had known for a while that he liked me. Infact the only reason I knew was because of Peter. If only he were here. We would laugh out loud about this very night. My heart was filled with joy as soon as I had finished taking a hit night shower. I put on my gown and rushed to my room. But the door was not closed anymore, it was slightly opened. I saw my mother sitting there on my bed. Her eyes gazing on the family photo album. She wiped her eyes from the tears that ran down her cheeks. "Mom, why are you crying?" Was the first question that popped into my head at the time. She looked at me and a smile covered her face. "You're so grown up. I can't believe I really did it." She said. Trying to hold back the tears. I felt slightly awkward. And clueless as to how to respond. "Yeah I'm grown, is that a reason to cry or did something bad happen at the hospital?" I pondered abou

PeterFree at last, I ran on the gravel road behind large tall trees. Away from the road. Since it was no longer safe. I could hear the sound of my breath coming out. There were no cars passing by, it was just dark and silent. For the first time in a long time, I feared the dark. I refused to look behind me. All I could think about was making it to my house and seeing my parents again. I ran continuously refusing to stop. Until suddenly, I heard a car come behind me. I was certain it was Jess and so I tried to increase my pace but fall to the ground instead. I heard the car park behind me still. The lights flashed my way. "Hey, wait. You don't have to be scared. I can drive you to your destination. It's dangerous out here." Said a voice. And it didn't sound anything like that of Jess. I got up from the ground and turned to look and saw a male shadow standing there. I couldn't see who it was since the lights were bright and in my eyes. "Their following me. Please get me out of here."

Peter Night's had passed since I had last seen anything in the mirror. I was still alive. My mouth covered in blood, I had begun to feed on rats to get the protein I really needed. The room was already stinking, no human could be able to survive such a smell but I was able to since I had gotten used to it. I had even begun to make a large scratch on the wooden floor using the zip from my now torn trouser. As a I was scrapping down on the filthy floor, I noticed a light from the corner of my left eye. I looked up and saw light coming through the mirror, I threw everything to the ground then ran towards the mirror to see what was happening. I was shocked when I saw a human hand passing in front of the glass. It looked like that of.. a face appeared finally. It was Jess. "Hello baby! I see you're still alive. " She said. I thought I was probably hallucinating, but no it seemed to real to be an image. It was her. "Are you the one that locked me in here?" I asked. Jess nodded slowly.

Sandra I had spent the entire day looking for the perfect outfit to wear on my date with Jake.. actually i wouldn't consider it as a date per day. Just a simple nighout with a friend. Well that's how I saw Jake. I had finally considered him as just a friend even though I didn't like him that much before. I could have ignored him but because of Peter, we became friends. Again, there was a sort of kindness about him. A side that I had found to be likeable... Firstly he was friendly with all the cooking and cleaning staff that worked at the school. Secondly, he ate food that was offered at school even though he could afford to buy a meal at a restaurant. Thirdly, my mom liked him and he was respectful. I put on my new outfit. A black hem tshirt with lace details on the sleeves with a black jeans. My mom helped braid my hair on the side then curled the rest of it. I felt alive. As I was finishing off my makeup, I heard a car park outside the house. I knew by then that Jake had arrived

  • Loving The Alpha   Chapter 22

SandraThe morning was silent. Peace covered the streets of Cornerstone. I wanted badly to skip achool for at least five days. I knew that the Finley sister's would be waiting for me at school. Waiting eagerly for my blood. My heart throbbed with each movement. I had left the house earlier than usual, unwilling to go with Jake. I didn't want him to protect me or fight my battle. I was ready to face my fears even if it meant I had to defend myself again. But what triggered that was the unfair treatment I had received from the principal. I wanted justice. I wanted to fight. Scared as I was. All the learner's students gathered to near the assembly hall for the day's announcements. Mr Burgess pulled out a key from his pocket but was surprised to see that the door was actually not locked as he thought it was. He opened it wide for the learners to enter. Those that were at the front, standing next to the principal began to scream. "What's the meaning of this?" Mr Burgess asked. He seemed

Sandra When my class for the day had ended, I walked past the principals office to place my books in the locker. However I was surprised to notice that his office was empty. There was no hint at all of the Finley sister's and their looser boyfriend Tyler. As I reached for the locker I heard someone clearing his voice, I turned to look and saw the principal, tall as he was staring right at me. His eyes slightly hazed inside his spectacles. "Mr Burgess. You scared me." I said. The principal did not seem to hear me. "You are late for detention. Follow me to my office!" He shouted. I was surprised. "No sir. I think you are mistaken. I did nothing wrong. The Finley sister's are the ones who deserve to be punished. Not me!" I cried out. "You are late for detention. Follow me to my office!" The principal repeated as if a recorded tape, continuously repeating the same message. I continued to defend my innocence but the principal did not listen to me nor did he try to reason. He just

SandraA week had passed since Peter died. But it felt like it happened a day ago. It still didn't feel real. It was like a bad nightmare and all I wanted was to be woken up from it. Had my mother not say anything to help lift my spirits, I would have not even gone to school. Having her by my side was exactly what I had needed at the time. I dragged my feet to my locker and pulled out a geography textbook. Before I could even close the locker, I saw three shadows behind me. I could tell who they belonged to because of the smell of their deodorant."What do you want?" I asked. Anne aggressively grabbed me by the hand and pushed me to the locker, her sister took the opportunity and pinned me there with her muscular athletic body. Tyler was a distance away, looking out for any teacher's, as he always did. "Can't you see I'm in a bad shape?" I asked. The Finley sister's began to laugh. "Remember when you embarrassed us in front of the entire school?" Anne asked. Her breath smelled

PeterFive days had passed since I had been locked up in this dark room. I hadn't had a bath nor had I eaten anything. I had thought about grabbing one of the rats and eating it but that looked too disgusting even just by thinking about it. I decided to focus my energy on getting up from the floor and if possible take a few workouts to ensure that I had enough energy to try and escape the house. Unfortunately there were no windows, nor were there any doors. I tried to remember what really happened the night I disappeared and the events prior. I rubbed my neck slowly and realised that the pain that I had been feeling had finally left me. Memories began to flood into my mind. Jess had given me a ring as a gift, but it carried something in it that made me moody all the time. And Jake was the one that helped me realize that it was wrong for me and took it out. I felt better. I began to feel angry, the thoughts surrounding Jess disgusted me. After her confession, I became a victim of an a

Peter The room was cold and dark, the ceiling was black as if it had burned, the walls were covered in ash, the atmosphere covered with a burning smell and something rotten. The floor from where I had been laying was full of dust and rats passing by. I couldn't decipher if what I was in a dream or whether this was my reality. I looked at my clothes, they were dirty as well as torn. My knees were covered in scratches, so was my body. I suddenly felt some heat and aching all over my body. Fortunately there was a mirror in the room. No bed, no chair, no blankets, just a mirror. I slowly walked towards it. My body still in pain. I lifted my eyes to my reflection and saw the horror that I was in. I looked awful. Bruises were covering my entire body. Blood had left an ugly stain all over my clothing. What had happened to me I wonder. Because of the continuous pain that seemed not to want to leave me, I realised that I was not in a dream but was in a true nightmare. Everything was real. But
