Chapter 6

Nathaniel Dave turned to Isabel as if she was the one that ochestrated the presence of Joseph Brown.

"What is this man doing here?" Nathaniel Dave asked Isabel. She was stunned on seeing Joseph Brown but was even more surprised at Nathaniel Dave's question. 

"You should ask me that, Mr Nathaniel Dave." Joseph Brown heard and said. 

Nathaniel Dave gazed at him at once. 

"Oh! Mr. Joseph Brown, seems you know my son-in-law?" Mr Abraham asked. 

"Sure."Joseph Brown smiled faintly and turned back to Nathaniel Dave who was very angry. He had lost his happy mood and wished he could do something to hurt this man before him. 

Why would he come over here? Nathaniel was forced to think of murder, he felt like he may end up killing him sooner or later. He was beginning to become a thorn in his flesh. 

" Erm...Mr Joseph Brown, please come over here, we are about to commence the party." Mr Abraham said and led Joseph Brown to a special seat at the living room, he ensured that Joseph Brown sat before walking back to the dinning. 

"I'll be back, sweetheart." Nathaniel Dave whispered to Cecilia and walked out. He placed a call across to Felix immediately. 

"Good afternoon, boss?"Felix's voice came through. 

" I've had enough, kill Joseph Brown before 48 hours or don't ever resume to my company again." He ordered angrily and hung up. 

Nathaniel Dave walked back to the dinning. His eyes met again with that Of Joseph Brown. He hated how reserved Joseph Brown was, he was not scared of him or intimidated in anyway. He would learn his lessons the hard way. 

Cecilia stood and helped her sister stand, "The party will be commencing soon, let's move together to the living room." 

Isabel agreed easily and stood, she sat with her sister gently and tried all her best to avoid the gaze of Joseph Brown. 

The party commenced and after series of events, Nathaniel Dave stood to speak. It was the time when people were presenting gift to the celebrant. 

Mrs Abraham had already presented a lovely flower to Cecilia, Mr. Abraham also gave her an expensive perfume and an expensive cream, Mr. Abraham had once heard Cecilia talk about being in need of both so he decided to surprise her with that.

The three unknown guest had also presented their gifts, it was well packaged and at that moment, no one could see what was inside. Isabel only believed that it would be something massive since the guests are wealthy people. 

"I present to my lovely Cecilia, a house and a car." Nathaniel Dave said and everyone cheered excluding Joseph Brown whose expression had been indifferent.  

"Here is the complete document of the house." Nathaniel Dave presented a document to Cecilia and she received it flawlessly. She was blushing. "And here is the car key." 

Cecilia was extremely happy at how Nathaniel Dave publicly blessed her, Nathaniel Dave then sat proudly. 

It was Isabel's turn to present a gift, she stood as expected and went to hug her sister, "I do not have money, but accept this hug as a token of my love to you." 

Cecilia pushed her sister away angrily, "You are the wife of Nathaniel Dave, how can you say you did not have money?  Just say you hate me..." Cecilia began to cry. 

Mrs. Abraham petted her and wish that they were not in public , otherwise she could have though Isabel a lesson she would never forget. 

When Nathaniel Dave saw that Cecilia won't stop crying, he stood and hugged her, "Cheer up dear, my gifts are enough and I'm always there for you." He then faced Isabel, "How can you say you did not have money? you are a disgrace!" 

Isabel looked thinly at Nathaniel Dave, ever since they got married, Nathaniel Dave only gives her money at the end of every year when he comes home. And the money is purposely for her food, some years, the money would not be enough and she would have to starve for few days until her husband comes. 

No matter how desperate Isabel was in terms of cash, she would never call her parent for help and that made them think falsely that she was being given huge about of money by Nathaniel Dave. 

"I'm sorry." Isabel apologized and took few steps back, she had never felt that much embarrassment. It's reasonable to think that everyone present there would definitely not believe her. 

Her husband was super wealthy and she as the legal wife do not have a dime apart from her money for food. 

She had no friend that she could have told, she had grown used to her life of loneliness. 

"I guess it's my turn to present the gift." Joseph Brown said purposely to dissolve the atmosphere that was getting tense.

"Yes, please." Mr Abraham said happily. 

Joseph Brown stood and walked to Isabel, he whispered some words into her ear and handed over a cheque to her. Isabel wished that Joseph Brown hadn't spoken to him, apart from Nathaniel Dave that had known that she and Joseph Brown were getting close, no one else has found out. 

But at that moment, Joseph Brown had just made it obvious. Since it has happened, she had no choice but to brace herself up and act as Joseph Brown had instructed. 

"In the kind gesture of our special guest, he gave me this cheque, it's over eight hundred million dollar here."As soon as she mentioned the amount , everyone except Nathaniel Dave expressed shock. Not like they can not afford such amount, they just couldn't afford giving it as a gift to someone. 

Isabel knew that such money is too much for her sister but she couldn'tdebate at that moment. 

"To prove to my sister that I'm selfless, I'm giving her this."Isabel streteched the cheque to Cecilia and she sullenly checked it and confirmed. Her face went straight to that of Joseph Brown. 

Was he richer than Nathaniel Dave? Was he beginning to like her sister? She doesn't want that. If Joseph Brown turns out to be richer than Nathaniel Dave, then she would leave Nathaniel Dave for her sister and cling unto Joseph Brown. 

"From me personally, I give you this one billion dollar." Joseph Brown stretched a cheque to Cecilia and she received it. Everything was looking like a dream to her. Her dad played a wise game by inviting a man as rich as that to her birthday party. 

"I'll need to take my leave, I do have another important event that I must attend." He said gently. 

"Sure, sir...I'll escort you." Mr. Abraham escroted Joseph Brown until he got to his car, they bade themselves bye and departed. 

Nathaniel Dave was indifferent about the whole act of Joseph Brown, he could even do more. Only that he has priorities, since Cecilia would always be with her, she will always have everything she ever longed for monetarily. There was no reason to lavish money on her unnecessarily. 

Cecilia turned to Nathaniel Dave, "My sister is not ashamed, how can she be keeping an affair secretly with Joseph Brown?" 

"I told you severally that she's shameless, I never made love with her and she got pregnant. Who knows if the pregnancy in her is for Joseph Brown." Nathaniel Dave said. 

One of the three guest coughed, "Erm...we would like to leave, seems the party has ended." 

"Thanks so much for coimg." Mrs. Abraham said, she had been expecting them to leave so she can scold Isabel. Mrs. Abraham led the three guest out, they exchanged few pleasant words and departed. 

Mrs. Abraham moved quickly to the moving room. "Mr. Nathaniel, Isn't it obvious that your wife had been keeping an affair with Joseph Brown, it's so pathetic to see that you haven't divorced her." 

"Nathanniel Dave said the pregnancy inside of her might not be for him, it definitely isn't for him."Cecilia said. 

"It's for Nathaniel Dave. No one has ever had sex with me except my husband." Isabel said courageously. Despite being amidst the people that were suppose to love her but hated her instead. 

Cecilia took her gaze back to Nathaniel Dave, "You can't allow a bastard in the Dave's family, abort the pregnancy already." 

Isabel couldn't believe her sisters, since her parents were there, she couldn't say a word or act. 

Nathaniel Dave's phone rang and he answered, "I'll need to leave, I have an urgent matter to handle." He walked swiftly outside 

Mrs. Abraham rolled her eye disgustingly at Isabel and walked away. 

"Dad, give me some space with little sister." Cecilia said and her father walked away. 

"I need to be frank with you, you need to abort that baby." Cecilia advised. 

"I won't, my life has been filled with sadness only for the past six years, this baby might give me hope." Isabel said even though she knew she would be dying in the next two weeks. 

According to the doctor, if she won't abort her pregnancy, then her death is fully certain. She really wished she did not have to die. She want to watch her baby grow. Why would fate give her a baby just when she was about to die? 

Isabel sees Cecilia as a failure, a woman without proper education,paralyzed legs and no husband. The only thing she envies in her was the love of Nathaniel Dave. If only she could be the one enjoying such affection. She truly loved Nathaniel Dave but he doesn't know it. 

"Are you lost in thought?Abort the baby." Cecilia shouted. 

"Either I abort it or leave it, how does it affect you, big sister?" Isabel asked and Cecilia threw a slap from the wheel that she was. 

Isabel smirked and shook her head for her disabled sister, "Don't do that next time, you are too easy to be bulied, seeing that you have no legs." Isabel scoffed. 

Cecilia angrily raised her hand to slap Isabel again but she was quick to hold it, "Big sister, don't be rude." She twisted her hand in such a way that she screamed in pain. 

"Seems your parents are somewhere far cause why haven't they come to your rescue? Wasn't that why you screamed?" Isabel said calmly and let go of her hand. 

"You and I know that Nathaniel Dave belongs to me but because you are so cruel and inhumane, you refuse to sign his divorce papers even after six years, I hate you with passion." Cecilia cried. 

"I know you hate me, why were you pretending like you were cool with me before?" Isabel asked. 

Cecilia angrily hit Isabel in her stomach, "Damn your stupid child, I'm the one that Nathaniel Dave loves and he will definitely get rid of that bastard in you." 

Isabel felt a storm in her belly, she moved back and sat, she was trying to calm her slightly painful belly. After her belly got calm, Isabel stood angrily and attempted to slap Cecilia for trying to hurt her baby but a voice stopped her. 

"The true character of a man is like a smoke, no matter how you tried to hide it, it will always find it's way...you are such a wicked woman." Nathaniel Dave walked in. 

Even though he has never seen Isabel behaved that violently, he believed she was violent, but seeing it at that moment made him confirmed that his believe was actually true. 

Isabel  felt sad that Nathaniel Dave saw her displaying violence, if she explains to him, he wouldn't listen so she kept quiet. 

Cecilia burst into an heavy tears, as if someone had literally beaten her. 

"She had been beating me since morning, I do not know what I did for her, she just hated me." She cried even more.

Nathaniel Dave bite his lips angrily and held Isabel by her neck, "Didn't you willingly give her the gift? why dd you want her to pay back with her life. Gosh? How can you even maltreat a woman on wheelchair! you are a monster, Isabel." He choked her even more.
