Chapter 41

Dwyne stepped out of the staff room, her mind still reeling from the events of the previous day.

The near-kidnapping incident had left her shaken, and she had taken a few days off from her job as a doctor to process what had happened and to regain her sense of security. She was grateful for the brief respite, but the anxiety from the ordeal lingered.

As she made her way down the hallway, Daniel, a fellow doctor and friend, approached her with concern etched on his face. “I heard what happened yesterday. My God, thank God you’re okay,” he said, his voice filled with genuine relief as he fell into step beside her.

Dwyne managed a small, appreciative smile. “Thank you, Daniel. It was a frightening experience, but I’m okay now.” The comforting presence of Daniel was a brief distraction from her lingering fear, and she welcomed the normalcy of their conversation.

However, as they walked, Dwyne’s gaze shifted to the end of the hallway.

I should’ve known, she thought with a small smile.
