Faye came out of the room and saw Cedric working on his tablet.

He looked up at her in concern. "You must be exhausted."

She shook her head. "I'm fine."

"Go rest." He took her hand and rubbed the back of her neck endearingly.

She leaned against his embrace and requested, "Carry me upstairs."

He smiled and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Okay. I'll carry you."

He picked her up and strode upstairs.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned against his chest, feeling extremely safe.

When did she start relying on Cedric so much?

It almost felt like she had nothing to fear as long as she was with him, even though she was independent and strong when she was alone.

She always thought that relying on other people was too risky an endeavor because one could grow lazy. However, trusting Cedric didn't seem like a bad choice after all.
