Faye didn't punish Hannah and let her go, telling her to go to the police, but Avery knew Hannah wouldn't do so.

If she was right, Hannah would likely start plotting to leave with her severely ill mother as soon as she left the hospital. Or perhaps she would reach out to Marie to see what the next step would be.
