We had a little breakfast of Sausage and Egg Sandwich with fruit smoothie at our large dinning room with the entire household. Madison was ranting off what my dad should bring as she packed her long blonde wavy hair into a bun, stopping it from being a nuisance while my brother munched off the Sausages from the wooden coloured, eight seat dining table with a complexly compacted chandelier hanging from above and diving with it’s golden glory into the middle of the posh German table where a Peruvian Lilies flower vase stood. My mum was on a video call. She was wanted to model for a beauty cream brand and she was giving her personal assistant orders on what to do to make sure it went as planned.

John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport – an aerodrome vast in magnitude and even more momentous to NYC's economy appeared as nothing but a speckle as my dad’s executive SUV limo tore down the route passing through supermarkets, stalls, few buildings, and a skyscraper.
It became larger as each minute passed like it was justifying why it had six passenger terminals, four runways, lounges, ARK pet oasis – all being world class . It was criss crossed with variety of colours and along with it was an uneven influx of commuters and passengers that swarm in and out of places like bees migrating to a zone they’re attracted to because of the aura the basic colour gave of.
“Get 'em luggage out”, my dad told our driver – a queer young man with a lot of freckles, always dressed in checkered blue shirts and with a funny Hawaiian accent as the car sped silently into the JFK’s car park.
“Aye sir”, he replied wasting no time to hold the door out for my dad before proceeding to the Limo's trunk to bring out our travel bags.
I and my dad and our driver who was helping us with our luggage went shopping for some pullovers and beanies for me as well as ski apparatus while my dad got himself an ox blood coloured slim fitted five piece suit and even a few sweaters for our driver who took the trouble of escorting us to the designated waiting zone for first class passengers and after pushing two tickets towards the guard at the waiting zone, I and my dad found a perfect place to rest with posh leather chairs and glass tables with lots of wines – and flower vases, too whilst our flight was being prepared.

“Ever been to Bulgaria?” my dad asked trying to start a conversation with me as he poured the Italian Pinot Grigio wine for himself then for me, too.
“Nah, only been to Scotland and Spain in Europe” I responded as I connected to the airport’s WiFi and that was all it took for him to narrate how he’d met my mum far away in Bulgaria when he had gone for a vacation with his two favourite pals.
He was a great talker and he was well versed in so many amusing subjects that it took nature through sleep to stop me from listening to him as he told me about the cradle of humanity, away in Africa, Ethiopia, precisely where wild lives and humans blended into one happy entity and about his massive project he was going to spawn over there soonest. I told him I’d gladly go with him but when the time came, I didn’t. By then he didn’t even know where I was. No one did – not even me.
He was a jovial man – almost my height with long dark hair that was turning a shade of grey, always well trimmed beards that got a special treatment too every time he had a massage and a customized recommended glasses that caged his fading blue eyes. He was a business guru too and knew the perfect occasions to keep his emotions off like during business meetings, contract signings and the rest and I always thought his blue eyes grew sharper whenever he was being serious.
He was the perfect match for my mum and he was lucky as well to have have her. After all, it’s not everyone that gets married to a model – a successful one at that who’s figure wasn’t disfigured after three kids.

“It’s already time”, my dad hollered to me as he placed his large hand on my shoulder gently sucking me out of Dream land. He had kept himself busy with a magazine when I was asleep. We found our seats on the first class cabin with a light golden filter permeating through the airtight atmosphere. My seat was by the window – giving me a panoramic view of the soft, blue clouds. I plopped down on it still drowsy from my interrupted sleep. About three minutes later, we were airborne and I was sound asleep leaving my dad to his magazine, and the waitress with hazel coloured eyes that reminded me of chocolates, and our bottles of champagne.
It was a ten hours flight and I wasn’t asleep for more than an hour aboard the plane. I had a delicious Ravioli and Dulce de Leche cake accompanied with a Martinelli'S Sparkling Apple Cider wine and strawberry frozen yoghurt within my first three hours on board while my dad had a Chicken Cobb Salad. Later on, we both had Viennese Schitzel alongside a more than our fair share of air turbulences. I passed time on my phone by reading a few chapters of an engaging eBook on GoodNovel – “The other one” by Samuelade then had an almost unending chat with my dad about Africa, aliens, vampires, Harry Potter and BlueStream Advercomp – his company.
I excused myself and went to pee in the airplane’s toilet. I pushed through the door that revealed a less illuminated section. There were about five cubicles for males and another five others for females both separated by a pallid creamy door.
I took my time peeing whilst humming to myself and getting used to the heated space I was in. When I got out and was sanitizing my hands, I heard a soft sound – almost too soft… of a female… groaning?... two toilets away from mine – still in the men’s section.
My heart started thumping hard against my ribcage and I could feel the hair on my skin stand. I was in utmost apprehension and if only for that moment, I wished I had a… weapon.
I started towards where the sound was the loudest, sweat trickling down my forehead and matting down my hair. I got to the entrance and tried to nudge the door open. Locked.
I tried pushing it open again with more force but it didn’t budge. Then I heard another soft, throaty groan from inside, then quick, consecutive sharp slaps and more moans.
I peeked through the key hole and to my shock, saw the hazel eyed waitress bent over – her pink flowery thong caught in her knees, a small framed man was thrusting into her for all he was worth.
He continued non-stop and she groaned in return. After a few seconds, he did too and released into her. Oops!
I found my way back to my seat and shut my eyelids to wash off what I’d just seen. When I opened my eyes again, I saw the waitress in her usual position – with her hazel eyes, smiling at me.

The elegantly modeled, thoroughly ornamented and soaring building – a total of eleven floors known as Hotelgenix, the seven stars world-class hotel was where we had our reservation booked back in America had sent a ski helicopter to pick us up as our plane touched down on the Bulgarian soil.
Winter had begun in Bulgaria about a week before it did in American and almost everywhere was snow-clad – from rooftops to avenues and even, the helipad where we were to land – we had to hover in the air for a few minutes while the topmost of 11 floors building was scraped of the snow.
My room and my dad’s was two-in-one. That is, my room could only be accessed by a door that coupled both rooms together. My room wasn’t half as fancy as my dad’s chamber with its king-sized water bed and heater and ceiling that modified into different colours and designs and a well-equipped stereo that hummed sweet tunes in the background. My room had a fairly large bed and candlelit chandeliers, an heater, too and a PlayStation I didn’t discover till my last days.
My first nightfall was cold – too cold and even the Bulgarian stars failed to unveil themselves in all of their glamour illuminating the dark night. Perhaps, they felt the chill too and decide to stay warm at home in their milkyway. Or maybe, they sensed my presence and didn’t want to be witnesses to my impending doom. Maybe.
“Just a week dad!” I said thumping my right feet on the black and white coloured Hotelgenix tiles that emulsified into one another at the center of the room creating an image of our milky way. Talk about perfection. “Four extra days, nothing more”, I added with a small frown and pouted lips that made me feel like I was 12.“Ugh, I didn’t bring enough clothes but let’s see” my dad said, helping himself with a Grey Shrimp Croquette then puckered at his laptop's screen as if concentrating on something, signaling an end of our conversation – at least, for that time.“I’ll be at Borisova resort” I added walking back to my room to order an helicopter as well as request for a tour guide who was well versed in the South Slavic language as well as English.
A sudden shock-wave and what sounded like a background choir marked the coming of an angel. After landing like a comet, a divine being with eyes like glass stood in my front. She look at me with her tanned eyes. It calmed my every fibre and made me feel drowsy. Her slender and muscular body glided in a careful manner and was covered in various markings. She carried a weapon of bright energy.I looked at her gentle face once more; a pained expression was visible. A halo suddenly flared brightly above her head, and consumed her. The angel was… Maisie and it was all a nightmare.**I woke up gagging on a cough. The winter was maliciously cold although the heater was working just as it should – but yet, I was sweating profusely.
My last three days in the South Eastern European State, Bulgaria were absorbing. My dad had struck an handsome deal and spent almost all his time either in the hot, aerated water of Hotelgenix’s spa or at the massage parlour giving his ol' skin a treat and rarely at a casino not too far from our hotel just to test if the “lucky necklace” my mum had given him once before his biggest contract signing was still potent. My last days were top notch fun. I visited parks and gardens. A museum also – with Maisie but finally, the day of my departure arrived and it was an emotional one.**The cold wintery breeze reduced the temperature of every thing – living or dead in Sofia and not even the heater in me and my dad’s rooms could save us. Snow had been falling for hours non-st
The birds cooed gaily not minding the whiter, foamier and more inviting snow that fell peacefully from the bluish sky.Perfection and high-spiritedness filled Fairford Overlook. Christmas flutes, fireworks and “Fairforders” teemed the streets – a few adults dressed in Santa's costumes while the kids that really did look like they had just arrived from the North Pole were dressed in green; Santa's elves, sharing gifts to all houses. Now! That was the kind of aura I loved waking up to meet after spending half my night wrapping gifts; a chevron necklace and a trinket dish for Madison, a Virtual Reality headset for Mason, a moonlight pyjamas for my mum and a wine subscription for my dad and even something for Sal, my best friend; a Phone Wooden Docking Station and AirPods leather case. It was a perfect Christmas but little did I know that it was to be a very horrible new year with tons of...**
Our home's entrance boomed through the air as I slammed it shut and hastened toward my room.“Where are your manners, Russell?” my mum’s thin voice said finding it’s way to the staircase where I was – a few steps left before getting to my room.“Sorry mum, evening!” I shouted back as I hastened to my room, locked myself in and slumped on my bed and ended up regretting it as a loose sock with blotches of different colours bounced off my bed and tried suffocating me with it's densely chummy stench as it landed directly on my nostrils. My throat went dry and itchy instantly, my head was heating up really fast as the hazy memories hidden behind time's facade of last winter began to unveil itself. I took an half empty bottle of water that I had left on my table last
So, as I pulled up in the garage, I could smell the pungent odour of problems brewing. Everywhere was unusually silent and as I got out of the car and slammed it's door, birds on the roof flew away in a rowdy flurry. Scared-y cats! Or do we still say bats?As I walked to the front door, I caught a face at the window peeking at me. It was Mason looking at me from above with eyes that screamed “doom!”. I rolled my eyes at him, got to the door and let myself in.**My dad wasn't back yet and that'd have been a good thing if mum wasn't going to snitch on me. She was still telling me about the things I should've done so that I could've gotten to school on time to prevent having detention but the sole thing I could conceive as she "ranted on" was... MAISIE!.
"I still don't get how you could've ever been with her bro" Sal said as he stuck his thumbs in the straps of his bag leaving room between his elbow and his abdomen. He kicked an empty can off the walk way as Mer interlocked her arms into his and caused a few bumps as she skipped a few times along with us.I sincerely didn't know either how I'd gotten together with Amaya. I never loved her because she'd always been way too fussy and awfully picky. She did almost whatever made her comfortable not minding others and that didn't still stop her from being a wimp. She was pained, pained that I wasn’t “hers” anymore and every single day made reality hit her more – she’d never get a chance with me, again. I was certain that I was accurate with my hypothesis because we'd grown almost together. We attended the same elementary school, high school and now, college.
A really long passage with small apartments, the size of two cubicles merged. From the petite or let's say trivial terrace, the third room on your left.Firmly held by old, red bricks bountifully garnished with cracks on its surface, a pallid ash gray door stood and on its other side, all her worth outside her homeland were kept. ALL.And there, behind the door with drapes drawn to prevent the incurs of the sun during the day- Just like a vamp will do, a small, portable plasma TV hung to the thinned walls, a stein with red, small cheap wine filled the air and a few inches from the cold dark walls, the soft thud of her heart reminded her that she was living as she lay on her single bed, curled up from the world outside and only peeking to know what was going out there through her TV.Life hadn't been always bad, in fact, it looked like it'd stored up the bad mo
"We're on our way now, sir," one of the ten cops with five automobiles ranging from patrol dodge chargers to an SUV Ford Police Interceptor said to a walkie talkie that hung from his shoulder. He had me and Amaya locked up in the secondary trunk of his dodge charger. Mrs. Spikes and Maisie in another then Sheryl and Sal in the third vehicle. We were all handcuffed because as one of the cops said - a man with saggy beards that rested comfortably on his huge lips, "you are threats to the safety of the community and we have to do our jobs well and keep our citizens safe," with that he'd claspsed ugly looking cold handcuffs round our wrists. We were all hungry and tired. Sal had the worst blow of it all. As the car juggled on the road avoiding a few potholes through trees and houses, inquisitive folks and office buildings, it had caused searing pains that ruptured through his fairly athletic frame. The second person that suffered th
Mrs. Spikes landed another hot slap on the man's fat face as he struggled to get up from the ground where he was pinned to by Sheryl and Amaya but failed."Where's Harvey!?" Mrs. Spikes thundered."I - I don't - know," he was obviously scared and it got fuelled when he saw the the other person he'd been with minutes ago with shut eyelids and not appearing to be breathing a few feet from him."One - LAST - Time!" Mrs. Spikes roared, "Where - is - Harvey - Rhett!?" The man closed his eyes and swallowed air as though he was in a dream and he'd want nothing more than to wake up and see that all's right. He opened his eyes slowly and saw the big framed, small eyed, large arms of Mrs. Sheryl smack against his face harder than ever! His face was going red all right, "okay," he spluttered, coughing as he spoke, "Harvey is - back on the floor where you came from. Where you all were kept, he is in one of the rooms w
As they were heading to the next floor and passed by a room with bright brown wooden doors and a crystal clear glass at the top with well framed with wood, Mer, Sal and Maisie ran into one of the businessman's men, not just one of the men, the one that had shot Amaya. Without much drama, Mer swung the AGM-1 Carbine over her shoulders and rapidly planted three bullets in his heart without thinking. He slumped to the ground and after a few whispers, they came to a decision to drag his body into the room they'd passed for secrecy's sake.As they swung into position, someone shouted at them, "hey! Who's there!?"They hurriedly carried the unconscious body into the room with lot of blood dripping as they went. The room was well arranged and empty just like all the other rooms were too but it had a red carpet, a long, posh table in the middle and a lot of blue, tinted windows on the other side of the room that showed the world outside Care Bare.
After they had their hands slit, they all fainted, one after the other without the knowledge that there were others too.Mer woke up after the persistent rays of the morning sun disturbed her hours long. She packed her tangled, messy hair into a thick bun and ran it over to her left shoulder. She was dirty and didn't realize how much until she took a look at a long mirror that hung from mid wall down. Her face had different shades of black, her lips were chappy and her wrist hurt. She took a careful glance at her wrist, there was a thin line made red with blood that spread round both her hands. Her clothes had a few small holes and a prominent one around her left shoulder. She stood up slowly and took a look at where she was. It was a ward, just like the one where she'd seen Sal's mum. The only difference was that this was empty - no bed, no syringes or other medical instruments other than a small, blood smeared dissec
The Rhett Family was never like it used to be. At every point in time, there was always someone that wasn't related to the family by blood around. At first, it was always the police trooping in - males and females, but shortly after the family of (now) four had been told what it was all about, Harvey Rhett being an accomplice to a case of murder and he couldn't be reached out to through any means, including through Sal, his supposed best friend, Mr. Rhett had taken drastic actions. He'd gotten private bodyguards for them all, one for both Mason and Madison, one for himself and another for his wife, Mrs. Rhett but that didn't still alleviate the shock he got through a phone call one glorious day.It was a beautiful, bright morning when Mr. Rhett had just taken a cold, long, perfumed bath and was in his study room, drinking a strong cup of tea and going through the three paged review on Harvey - reported sights, security camera alerts,
Within the blink of an eye, Care Bare Hospital was as empty as possible. Every patient and doctors, nurses, surgeons and specialist were gone. Hospital reports, vital paperworks and other documents had vanished too as the seven-man abductors and four abductees arrived at the front of the hospital that had a lopsided banner hanging. The man who'd shot Amaya jumped down from the Jeep and went to fling the uninhabited hospital doors open, "Open Sesame!"The light bulbs reflection widened out and extended its tentacles to welcome its early morning guests into itself as they got out of the Jeep one after the other, with guns pointed at Mer, Sheryl, Maisie and me, we were led into Care Bare Hospital.Mer looked around obviously aware of where she was. This was where she'd almost died a few days ago!Not a sound was made but the shuffling of their footsteps as they were led slowly to the elevator. The elevator door
Hoots of bats and gawks of hawks warned Amaya and Mer as they hurried down the stony path to the castle."I hope that's no gunshot we heard," Mer heaved as she stopped on her tracks for a rest."There's only one way to find out. C'mon we've got to hurry,"With a lot of difficulty, Mer swung the heavy AGM-1 Carbine to her side creating space for her to run faster."Before my grandfather died, he said when someone dies, they become stars that appear in the dark. And look, there's a star, no, two!".The two girls looked at the tiny stars that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere."They can't be dead. Not Sal and Harvey."They moved faster to where the sound was coming from, not stopping to rest or anything. As they got to the daunting castle, they felt bewitched with silence. They took series of tiptoes round the castle trying to find either a way into the ca
My heart was drumming against my ribcage and my head throbbing against my skull as I dashed down the dark, wooden stairs. From the fourth storey, I bolted down the third in about half a minute, as I was on my way to the second, my left leg sunk into one of the stairs that dissipated into lots of sawdust.I tried forcing my feet out of it but it was stuck about seven inches into it and crowned at the surface with sharp edges that dug into my flesh causing small streams of blood spread across the stairs and down my leg.I didn't have much time for a stupid, rotten staircase made of wood so I tried yanking my leg out of it but that was a horrible mistake as waves after waves after waves of colossal pain tore through my left leg almost making it go numb.I squinted up into the dark where I'd come from to see if maybe whoever it was that I'd chased was anywhere around, about to take revenge on me for shooting him but he wasn't and despite
"Hurry", Mer anxiously said."Okay, okay", Amaya whispered back.Amaya held her skate firmly under her armpit as she snuck up to her room. Her and Mer had come back to her home to get prepared. She went back into her house using her hands in the dark the way an insect will use its antennas but her hands weren't half as effective and she came to realize that as she hit her leg against a step. All things being normal, she would've yelped a little but things weren't normal, they were far from it and she kept the pain that swelled about ten times bigger than it's original size in three seconds inside her, only muttering a few words to let the pain go like all of the Pacific escaping to a desert drop by drop as she imagined an ugly red boil present on her big toe.She got to her room, unlocked her door and noiselessly placed her skate on the ground. She took a look around, the moon only allowed her to see a few things but she s
