13 - Getting around the situation

When Morgana left the room, I could see Elena's hatred fully. She came in right after and closed the door behind her. Her fists were clenched, and the air felt heavy around her.

"What do you have to say to me?" her blue eyes gleamed with tears welling up at the edges.

"Nothing," I replied, and her face paled, looking at me incredulously. Obviously, she wouldn't believe my story. "Nothing happened."

"And you expect me to believe you?" she began to cry softly. Looking at the floor, she walked heavily and leaned against the door, letting her body slump down until she sat. "You said you wouldn't see me because you wanted to focus on work, and I come here, and you're in the room with her."

I silently sighed, "And that's exactly it. Nothing happened."

I headed to the closet to grab some clean clothes. I pulled out a white cotton shirt and black sweatpants. I started getting dressed and continued talking as I changed out of clothes that still smelled strongly of cigarettes and whis
