It was safe to say the discussion had taken a nasty turn, but Zoey could not lose her temper. Acting up wasn't the way to solve problems at work. She could not push the blame onto Laurence either, as he was the client, and she was the vendor.

At the end of the day, Laurence was wasting his own time. If he really was dissatisfied with her work, they could keep making changes and postponing the construction, and when they eventually passed the deadline, Zoey's company would not be held responsible. She told herself to calm down; the worst that could happen was that she'd have to make amendments again after the meeting.

"Let's take a break and continue the discussion shortly."

Everyone took a break. Katie was puzzled and could not resist asking Zoey, "Previously, when I came here for meetings, your ex-husband was always silent and never said a word. Why is he being so difficult today?"

Zoey opened the bottle of coffee Jared had bought her that morning and smiled bitterly. "Maybe it's
