CHAPTER THREE: NO MERCY

“Dave, what is it?” Spencer said in a harsh tone

“Miss Sofia is awake,” Dave said.

“Good now you do as I say and leave there, is that understood?” Spencer said

“Yes boss,” Dave said, and immediately the call ended.

Spencer’s POV

“Do I need to teach her a lesson before she stops intruding in my business?” Spencer thought to himself as he headed to his car and went straight home.

At the Hospital

“I’m happy you are up now, how are you feeling?” Dave asked Sofia who was feeling lightheaded.

“I think I’m fine but I feel lightheaded,” Sofia said with a low voice.

“Okay, let me get the doctor for you,” Dave said as he walked out of the room to go call the doctor.

A minute later, Dave walked into the room with the doctor.

“Hello Miss Sofia, how are you feeling?” The doctor asked with a smile on his face.

“I’m fine doctor, I just feel lightheaded,” Sofia said

“Okay, I will prescribe some medications for you and make sure you take it okay.”

“Yes, doctor,” Sofia said.

“When will she get discharged?” Mr.Dave asked the doctor.

“She can go home now. I will let the nurse prepare her discharge papers.” The doctor said to me, Dave.

“Okay doctor, that will be great.” Mr Dave said and the doctor left the room leaving Mr Dave and Sofia alone.

Mr Dave turned to Sofia and said; “My boss asked me to give you this. Use it and take care of yourself from here. I will be going to the counter to clear your bills, I hope you will be able to find your way from here.” Mr Dave said to Sofia.

After hearing what Mr Dave had to say, she broke down in tears and said; If only I had a place to go, I wouldn’t be so sad. I came to this city to get the job I was offered but ended up getting scammed. I don’t know anyone anywhere in this big city, where will I go from here, I have no one back there in my hometown. And now I’m going to be left all alone and stranded in this strange city.”

While crying and talking, she turned to Mr Dave and continued; sir please help me, let me stay with you for a few days while I go in search of a house. I don’t know how easy or difficult it is to get a house in this city but please right now you are my only help.”

Mr Dave who was sad after hearing what Sofia said, then told her; “I would have loved to help you but I stay in a 2 bedroom apartment with my colleagues and it won’t be okay for you to stay with 5 men in the same house. I will take you to a motel for the night and tomorrow morning I will get an apartment for you to stay and start a life here in New York City.

Sophia wiped her tears and smiled saying “Thank you Mr. Dave for helping me.”

“It’s my pleasure. Get ready so we can leave while I make payments for your hospital bills and medication.” Mr Dave said as he went out of the room for Sofia to dress up.

Spencer’s POV

Spencer got him and asked Mary, his housekeeper to prepare a meal for him and get the letters in the mail for him. Mary went to the mailbox, picked up all the letters, and headed upstairs to Spencer’s room to hand them over to him.

“Sir, here are letters,” Mary said politely

“What will you be preparing for dinner?” Spencer said while staring at the letters

“I will be making smoked salmon, cream cheese, and red onion.

“Okay. You may leave.”

“Yes sir.” Mary walked quietly out of the room

While Spencer was tryna go through the mail, his phone beeped and it was a message from one of his workers.

“Boss, the supplies ain’t complete.”

Immediately Spencer read the message, and an angry expression was written all over his face. His brows were furrowed, and his eyes were narrowed with intense glare. He immediately picked up his phone and called Dave.

Spencer’s phone rang……

Immediately Dave picked up the call

“Whatever you are doing, leave and come to the house now,” Spencer said in an angry tone.

“Yes, boss,” Dave said and the call ended.

Sofia’s POV

While Dave was on his way to drop Sofia off, his boss called him and immediately he made a U-turn in speed and headed straight to Spencer’s house.

“Why the change of direction, where are we going to?” Sofia asked in a low tone as she was feeling sad.

“We are going to the boss’s location,” Dave said to Sofia.

“What for if I may ask” Sofia said

“You don't need to know everything,” Dave said

Dave arrived at Spencer’s mansion spending just 10 minutes to get there.

“Wait in the car, you don't need to come with me,” Dave said as he stepped out of the car and headed straight to the house.

“You sent for me boss,” Dave said as he met Spencer sitting on the couch looking so furious.

“The supplies are not complete, I need to know who was in charge of receiving the supplies and who the delivery person is,” Spencer said in an angry tone.

“Yes boss, I will find out and inform you immediately,” Dave said in confidence.

“Take me to the stash house now,” Spencer commanded as he stood up and went to the door while Dave opened the door for him.

Getting to where the cars were parked, he saw Sofia standing beside Dave's car and asked in anger, “What is she doing here Dave?”

“I was about to take her to a motel when you called a boss,” Dave said with his own

“Tell her to get lost right this minute,” Spencer said with anger.

Immediately Sofia heard what he said, with tears in her eyes she went on her knees and began to beg Spencer to please forgive her and accommodate her.

“Sir I know you don’t know me and you consider me a spy and a stalker but I promise I am none. I’m just a poor orphan. I left my hometown because I had no one. My parents died and left me to care for myself. I came to this country to start the job I was offered not knowing it was all a scam. Please sir I will do anything you ask of me but please let me stay here while I look for a job and a plan. I promise……….”

While she was still talking, Spencer turned his back and went to his car without saying a word to her, and immediately Dave followed him leaving Sofia on the floor as she cried her eyes out.

“Let her in,” Spencer said while focusing on his phone.

“Yes, boss,” Dave said with a smile and immediately went and told Sofia to go into the house as the boss had agreed. After telling her, he left them and drove Spencer to the stash house.

Sofia stood up from the floor, wiped her tears, and went inside the house with her little bag. When she entered, she saw Mary and hugged her.

“Welcome back Miss Sofia,” Mary said with a smile on her face.

“Thank you so much, Miss Mary,” Sofia said

“Go to your room, freshen up, and come down so I can serve you.”

“Thank you, Mary, I will be right back,” Sofia said and then headed upstairs to freshen up.

Spencer’s POV

Spencer and Dave arrived at the stash house without the workers knowing. Immediately they saw Spencer, they were all filled with fear and surprise.

“Where are my missing supplies?” Spencer said angrily staring at the workers.

“Boss we don’t know.” They answered in chorus with fear in them.

“Bruno, get me the CCTV footage.”

“Yes, boss,” Bruno said as he went out to get the footage.

A minute later, Bruno came with the footage and played it to Spencer.

“Dave, where are the names I asked of?”

“Boss here are the names of the delivery guy and the person in charge of the supplies,” Dave said while showing Spencer the names on his phone.

Spencer collected the phone, stared at the list, and smiled evilly.

“Get me Drey and Jackson right now! And bring them to the basement.” He ordered three of his guards and they immediately left the stash house in search of the culprits.

“If I find out anyone here is part of the scheme or has any other agenda than what he is paid to do, I will make sure you don’t survive even for a second,” Spencer said warning his workers. After talking to the workers, he left with Dave to the basement to wait.

Sofia’s POV

Sofia had finished freshening up and she headed straight to the dining table and sat down while Mary served her dinner. While eating together with Mary, they had a little chit-chat as she told Mary about her and where she is from.

“So tell me where are you from?” Mary asked Sofia.

“I’m from Cleveland, Ohio,” Sofia said smiling

“Oh okay. I’ve not been there before.”

“Hahaha. It’s one of the local and not well-known places in the U.S.A. You probably won’t know there.”

“I’m not born from a rich home so trust me I understand how it feels for someone coming from a humble background,” Mary said.

“So how did you get a job in this big mansion?” Sofia asked with an eager smile.

“My mom once worked for Spencer’s parents before she became ill so I was opportune to continue working for them.”

“So tell me about you and your family.”

“Uhmmm I’m from a humble home, I’m the only child and life was fair to me and my parents not until the day my dad died in an accident at work. He usually works in an oil company so there was a gas explosion and he was unfortunately inside and couldn’t survive it.” Sofia said almost teary.

“OMG, that’s so sad to hear. What about your mom?” Mary asked

“My mom couldn’t bear the pain, she died due to the heartbreak. My parents loved each other so much. So since then, I’ve been living on my own to try to make ends meet and that’s how I got to this city.”

“Don’t worry everything will be fine with no time,” Mary said as she went to wash the dishes.

“Let me help you.” Sofia said while lending a hand to Mary but Mary declined saying, “Don't Worry just go to your room and rest I will do the dishes.” Sofia left and went straight to her room.

Spencer’s POV

While Spencer was in the basement waiting for his offenders, the guards came in with Drey and Jackson. Their hands were tied up and their faces covered.

“Boss here they are,” Dave said

“Uncover their face,” Spencer commanded and immediately the guards uncovered them and tied them to seats.

“Where are my goods?” Spencer asked angrily.

“I…..I don’t…..know sir, I delivered the amount that was given to me.” Drey said with a shaky voice as he was the one doing the delivery.

“Boss I promise you I know nothing about the missing goods,” Jackson said

“Since none of you want to say the truth then I will have to teach y’all a lesson,” Spencer said with an intense expression.

Spencer gave the signal to Bruno and immediately Bruno went and brought a hot iron with a knife

Seeing the equipment Bruno brought, Spencer asked Bruno to iron on each person causing a second-degree burn on their Chest.

“Now are you ready to tell the truth or he should chop off one of your fingers?” Dave asked in a cold voice as Spencer sat on his chair holding a cigar in his hand, and crossing his legs.

Drey began crying and pleading saying he would say the truth.

“Boss, it was Jackson that…..that told me…me to hi…de three boxes of the drugs and he will pay…..pay for my chi…..child’s surgery,” Drey said while crying and stammering.

“How much did he pay you to be able to betray me?” Spencer asked in a cold voice.

“I didn’t mean to betray you boss, I needed the money that moment and I got carried away by his words,” Drey replied

“You still haven’t answered my question. HOW MUCH DID HE PAY YOU?” Spencer said in a loud voice.

“Twenty thousand dollars boss, it was 20,000 dollars,” Drey replied with his whole body shaking.

“Hahaha, you betrayed me for twenty thousand dollars? Don’t you think he cheated you?”

“That was the a….amount I….I needed to save my daughter’s life.”

“How sad will your daughter be when she doesn’t have a father again? Spencer said smiling evilly

“Please boss I will do anything for him to spare my life. Anything I beg you.” Drey said as he cried profusely.

“Jackson you stole from me?” Spencer said with an angry look.

“I didn’t mean to tell my boss, please forgive me,” Jackson said with fear written all over his face.

Immediately Spencer ordered Bruno to chop off two of Jackson’s fingers.

“Give me your hands you bastard,” Bruno said in a cold tone as he forcefully dragged Jackson’s hand and placed it on a table.

“Please, please, please boss I promise to return…. Ahhh….. Ahhhh…..” Jackson screamed in pain as Bruno cut two of his fingers.

“Now tell me who sent you?” Spencer asked Jackson.

“No one boss. No one sent me.” Jackson said as he was in pain.

Spencer gave Bruno a signal again and immediately Bruno removed the hot iron that was connected to a switch and placed it on Jackson’s back, Jackson screamed and begged for mercy.

“Now tell me, who sent you?” Spencer asked again.

“No one sir, I’m sorry,” Jackson said while he cried.

Spencer turned and looked at Drey and said, “You said you will do anything right.”

“Yes boss, anything for your forgiveness.”

“Dave gave him the gun,” Spencer said and Dave handed the gun to him immediately.

“Now shoot him and I will spare you,” Spencer said with an intense look on his face.

“Drey please don’t do it, I beg you” Jackson pleaded.

“I will say the truth boss,” Jackson said as he continued pleading

“Now tell me who sent you?” Spencer asked

“It’s….. it’s Don Lorenzo, please spare my life.”

Spencer gave a smile as he heard the name and then asked Drey, “Do you want to do it or I should kill you?”

“No boss I will do it” With his hands and body shaking, Drey shot Jackson in his head. Seeing it Spencer said to Drey “I will spare you for a job well done.” Immediately he said he left the basement and went to his car, Dave and Bruno followed him as they drove Spencer back home.
