Two Hundred and seven

CHAPTER 207

"I want to ask, why does Alicia have to get married? Aren't there a lot of female CEOs out there working, running their companies without marriage and family? This sounds unreasonable for a special requirement in the company."

Noel nodded in agreement, "Nicholas is right. Marriage and company, what's the connection between those two different things? It doesn't make sense. Even a company organizes someone's marriage?"

Felix chuckled, he sorted out the sheets of paper containing the financial records, gathered them together, then put them in a folder and the folder he put in his black tote bag. Felix's hands were intertwined on top of the black bag, before he finally looked at the two detectives who were looking at him curiously.

"You guys are right. But, I can't do much for tradition and the request for marriage was written in the family inheritance papers, Mrs. Michelle had even made a power of attorney to make the inheritance papers official and valid in the eyes of the law. In fact, the letters were made in a state of consciousness and witnessed by the relevant attorneys. I was one of the living witnesses when the letter was written and stamped, Mrs. Michelle seemed to make all those things without the slightest hesitation. Apparently, she didn't even care about her personal secretary who always faithfully accompanied her and preferred to give all this money to Alicia."

Nicholas frowned. "A personal secretary?"

"Her name is Anna Parker, she is a personal secretary. She takes care of various work-related matters, but she doesn't work for one person, I heard she works with a professor from Japan. That's why, Madame Michelle needs a general secretary when organizing the schedule in this company."

Noel pointed at Felix and looked at the man in the brown suit in confusion. "So, she has two secretaries?"

"That's right. Have you met Anna?"

Nicholas and Noel shook their heads in response. As Felix pulled out a wallet from his coat, his brown eyes looked at the contents for a few seconds, then he handed Nicholas a business card. "This is Anna. She is under the Star Corporation agency, and she has been working for Madame Michelle for the past five years."

"Five years? That's a long time. Anna should know Madame Michelle better than anyone else in this company."

Felix shrugged his shoulders, he muttered, and said, "That cannot be confirmed. Madame Michelle is a private person, she is good at hiding her plans before she can realize them. I think Madame Michelle also had a personal goal when she asked Alicia to marry at the age of twenty-seven. The family relationship between Madame Michelle and Miss Alicia is very complicated, but I can't delve deeper into it. That's beyond my scope as a corporate attorney."

After a short pause, Felix finally spoke up again and he asked.

"Do you still need anything? I have to go meet some business colleagues, and if there are no more questions, I will take all these reports."

Nicholas hurriedly paused, he kept Felix in his seat for longer. "Ah, I wanted to ask you again. Regarding Alicia's marriage, are there any special requirements or criteria for her future husband?"

Noel immediately looked at Nicholas with an ignorant look, but Nicholas stepped on Noel's foot under the table to make him shut up.

"Um, Madam Michelle didn't write anything specific about it, but it seems that Miss Alicia needs someone who understands the management of a company of this size so that it doesn't fall. She should have someone who can stand by her against all the dangerous things in the business world."

Felix's smile ended their conversation for the day. And after getting the information, Nicholas thanked Felix. "Thank you very much for your help. We look forward to the email you will send us."

And Felix shook Nicholas' hand as he stood up from his chair. "Of course. I will send it to you soon. Hopefully this case will be resolved soon and we can focus on the development of the company."

As Felix left the room, Nicholas and Noel exchanged glances, contemplating the tangled web of intrigue surrounding Alicia's sudden marriage proposal. With a whiff of unanswered questions, they decided to delve deeper into the mysterious world of Star Corporation.

Their investigation leads them to Star Corporation's sleek and modern headquarters, a towering glass and steel structure that seems to reflect the ambitious nature of the company. As they enter the bustling lobby, Anna Parker's name echoes in their minds, and they can't help but wonder about the enigmatic private secretary who plays a crucial role in Madame Michelle's decisions.

In the heart of the company, they found Anna going through files meticulously in a corner office with a view of New York City. The detectives introduce themselves, explaining their connection to Alicia's case. Anna, though initially keeping her distance, slowly opened up as she sensed the gravity of the situation.

"I've been with Madame Michelle for five years, but I've never seen her so persistent in doing something," Anna admitted, her eyes reflecting a mix of loyalty and confusion. "The marriage proposal to Alicia seems to be based on some very personal things that I don't even know about. Madame Michelle will only tell me things she wants to share, we don't share information impulsively because I also work for another boss."

Nicholas, who took the opportunity, probed further, "Is there a reason why Madame Michelle would entrust Alicia to lead this company rather than an experienced executive? They rarely even talk in person."

Anna sighed, her gaze wandering out the window. "Madame Michelle has always believed in Alicia's potential. There's a bond between them that goes beyond blood. But, I must say, I have heard whispers of an impending threat to the company. Something that made Madame Michelle act quickly, fearing for the future of the company."

Noel, sensing a breakthrough, asked, "Do you know about the mysterious personal goal that Madame Michelle has in mind for Alicia?"
