CHAPTER 12
Alicia, driven by curiosity, ventured to ask to switch seats with Luke.
"Oh, please." Luke said happily.
Alicia sat next to Ace. She made Ace turn his head with a smile. Alicia's goal in switching seats was to eavesdrop on Elena's conversation behind her. She didn't even realize that the person sitting next to her was Ace. But Ace was already big-headed. He raised his face arrogantly, then whispered softly to Alicia. "Sorry Alicia, I'm no longer interested in you. You... I don't think you're my type."
Alicia frowned deeply. What was this idiot talking about. Meanwhile, Ace grinned with satisfaction at the thought that he had succeeded in making Alicia feel humiliated.
"I heard you lost my hairpin." Elena's voice filled Alicia's ears. She ignored Ace who was still busy with his own thoughts. But now, Alicia wondered, who was Elena chatting with? Was it Amanda? Because the girl had her back to them. "You know how much those hairpins cost, right? You wouldn't even be able to buy it if I asked. It's a limited edition."
"Ah, yes, about that hairpin... you don't have to worry. I'll replace it as soon as possible," someone replied--which Alicia thought was Amanda. "You're overreacting. You're mad at a friend just because of that cheap hairpin. Aren't you afraid that someone will kill you like James did?"
Alicia frowned as they started mentioning James in the conversation, while her hands stirred the rest of Luke's waffles in front of her. Why were they suddenly talking about James?
But Ace's voice filled Alicia's ears again. "Hey, ash hair, why did you choose to date that detective?" Alicia just stared at the waffles on the plate, ignoring Ace. "You know that your ages are far apart, right? Do you have a 'daddy-issue' or something, so you're looking for a father figure in the guy you're dating?"
Alicia remained silent, until Ace spoke again. "Do you want to experience the pleasurable sensation of making love to a man older than you?"
The words sounded outrageous. Alicia raised her face, she looked at Ace straight on. An aura of hatred flowed through that gaze, and gave Ace a slight chill. "Mind your own business."
It wasn't about who Alicia would date, but why should Ace care? Who did she think she was? Besides, Alicia was busy taking care of James' case which was either related to her past or not. She didn't really notice Ace there. Even after she finished talking to Ace, Alicia looked back at the waffles that were just stirring on the plate to hear Elena's conversation behind her.
Elena laughed mockingly. "Who would dare to kill me? I'd pay good money to hire a bodyguard before someone hurt me, you know! And about James, Ah, that jerk has already humiliated Jake in front of so many people. I think he deserved to die in such a tragic way," she said without feeling guilty at all.
Their conversation seemed to have caught the attention of some of Elena's friends who were walking by. They stopped behind Alicia and gathered around. Then,
A friend with a loud voice interjected. "Elena, be careful what you say. Mr. Wilson won't be happy if he finds out you're discussing James' case in a public space like this."
"Ah, never mind. You don't need to meddle in my business." Elena's eyes moved to Amanda, yes, Alicia was increasingly convinced that the girl sitting behind her was Amanda. And Elena looked at her angrily. "You mustn't forget to replace my hairpin immediately! I was going to give that as a gift to someone you know. She's classier than you, I think I'll be good friends with her." Elena got up from the chair she was sitting on. "Let's get some food first, it's my favorite today, right?"
Elena's two friends who had joined in the conversation followed suit. The three of them got up from their chairs.
But Alicia could hear the soft whisper of Amanda's voice behind her, "Yes, Espresso. That's your favorite drink, Elena."
It wasn't until later that Elena noticed Alicia sitting next to Ace - James' friend. She stopped in front of Alicia's table and waved. Elena smiled kindly and began to say hello. "Hi, Alicia. I didn't know you were sitting here in the first place. By the way... is this your date?" she asked in a sarcastic tone. She then glanced at Ace--who was looking at her sarcastically--and chuckled softly. "I think dating that handsome detective would suit you better than him, Alicia."
Ace realized Elena was being sarcastic. "That's funny. This ash-haired one is lucky enough to be my date so easily. Look at you! You even pretend to forget you teased me." Ace's hazel eyes traced Elena's body from top to bottom. Elena coughed in disgust. "You even had to humble yourself just to sit at the same table with me. Should I remind you of that?"
An angry red tinge appeared on Elena's cheeks. She then cleared her throat, "That's all right, Alicia. Have a nice date." and turned to leave Alicia's table with her two friends trailing behind.
Ace shook his head in disbelief. "Cheapskate!" He looked at Alicia seriously now. "What do you think I lack compared to that detective?"
Alicia raised both eyebrows high. Rhetorical question. She shrugged her shoulders dismissively and moved away when Brittany returned with a plastic cup of coffee in her hand. "Where are you going, Alicia?" Brittany asked.
Alicia took her drink from Britt's hand without a word, "Calling emergency." and walked past her with a flat expression. Leaving the three people who were now staring at Alicia's back in confusion.
Alicia walked towards the cafeteria door with an occasional sip of her espresso that was still billowing hot smoke. She intended to leave the cafeteria to give "a little" information to Nic in a quieter place. Considering that anyone could be the culprit.
BRUGG!!!
Until suddenly a loud noise like a large object falling to the gazled floor accompanied by hysterical screams was heard and stopped Alicia's steps. She immediately turned around and found a girl with shoulder-length black hair falling on her knees in front of the body of someone who was lying down and screaming,

"HELP!!!"
CHAPTER 13Cafeteria room, 10:00 am.Everyone in the cafeteria immediately surrounded Elena's body which was now convulsing violently in front of the counter suddenly. Her pale face looked up to the ceiling in pain. Her hands squeezed her chest tightly and occasionally opened her mouth, seemingly to spit something out of her throat, though the only thing that came out of Elena's mouth was wind and a horrible hiss. She was like a person possessed by a ghost, her body moving uncontrollably.Elena's sudden fall caused the two friends beside her to panic. They both went low, trying to hold Elena's hands. They shouted in panic."Help! Someone help us!"And all the people in the cafeteria began to rush over. They were curious about the incident that had just happened. Some of them whispered in fear, while others recorded the incident with their cell phones. The current situation was almost similar to the situation when James' body was found in the hallway. But none of them could really help
CHAPTER 14Alicia sniffed the surface of Elena's paper cup. The sheer volume of coffee in the cup indicated how little Elena had drunk. Perhaps because it tasted a little different, Elena chose not to drink any more. The faint scent of almonds touched Alicia's sense of smell. Even though the coffee that Carl was holding tightly was no longer billowing hot steam."Did you have any almond-based food or drink today?" Alicia asked, without leaving her fingerprints on the cup.Carl shook his head slowly and put the paper cup back on the table. "No, no. We only have waffles and espresso because the other barista took the day off." He shrugged his shoulders indifferently. "You know, right, I'd have a really hard time making a lot of drinks for--" Carl paused, as Alicia again gave him a serious look. "Alright, I'll stop talking right now. I'm sorry," he said sarcastically.Alicia shook her head in disbelief. For the first time in her life, she had found a man who liked to talk more than the w
Chapter 15Golden High Hall room. After it was confirmed that Elena really died, Elena's body was then taken by police officers to the hospital for an autopsy process. This choice was taken because Elena's parents suspected that the cause of her death was considered unnatural and indicated a case of planned murder. Just like what happened to James. They had the same sad fate. At a very young age, they died terribly."We hope the police can solve this case as soon as possible, Mr. Blake," said Sophia, Elena's mother.Meanwhile, her husband, Jhon, embraced Sophia and tried to calm his wife gently. John looked at Mr. Wilson and said, "We're going to the hospital now."Mr. Wilson shook John's hand respectfully. "I'm very sorry for your daughter's death. I promise to assist you with the entire investigation.""Thank you," said John. He and his wife left the scene.Mr. Wilson spoke with Nicholas before the Golden Group CEO left the scene of the crime. He even avoided the students who were l
CHAPTER 16Alicia skulked around like a thief. She followed Amanda's trail in secret, like a secret agent. Every now and then Alicia looked around, worried if anyone else had seen her behaving in such an unusual way.So far, Alicia saw that Amanda was indeed going to the toilet. The girl had covered her clothes with a denim jacket, so she was conspicuous. The direction Amanda was walking was indeed to the public restroom in the dormitory. But from her walking position, Alicia could see that Amanda was busy playing with the cell phone in her hand. Every now and then Amanda looked down, looked at the phone screen, and then refocused on the road in front of her. Was Amanda texting someone?Alicia was still walking behind Amanda with careful steps, when Amanda suddenly stopped.Amanda let out a long breath, then put the cell phone in her jacket pocket. Alicia tried to hide out of sight, but her movements were too slow. Amanda turned around and raised one eyebrow as she looked at Alicia's

Nicholas folded his arms across his chest and dropped his buttocks on the edge of the white table in the room.Nicholas finally decided to postpone the interrogation about Elena's death for several reasons. First, he wanted to first confirm the external post-mortem and autopsy results from the forensic authorities regardin
Nicholas folded his arms across his chest. His brown eyes looked at Ace seriously. "What information are you referring to? This is no time to play around.""I'm not playing around. I'm also serious.""So, what information do you want to give me?Seeing Nicholas give the response Ace was hoping for, made the young man smile with satisfaction. His plan had worked. He could lift his face confidently now. Ace then raised his index finger in the air, "Firstly, this information should be very useful to you," Ace raised both fingers now, forming a 'V' in the air. "And secondly, this information is not free. Well, nothing is free in this world."Nicholas frowned. He was confused as to what Ace was trying to tell him. Did Ace intend to blackmail a policeman now?But in the midst of Nicholas' confusion, Ace turned his attention to Alicia. Alicia was sitting quite far away, but could clearly see Ace's wide smile there."Hello, ash hair. How are you?" greeted Ace familiarly. She waved her hand, t
CHAPTER 19Golden High.As the name suggests, Golden High School is indeed like gold. The boarding-based school was too precious for its owner. It was like a treasure. Not only because many of the children came from wealthy families, but also because Golden High School would be dominated by investors who were willing to spend millions of dollars just for an annual event. By the way, Golden High School had some formal rules that everyone in it had to abide by. One of them is that students must enter the dormitory before ten o'clock at night. The main lights in the dormitory will be turned off at ten o'clock at night. And the security guards would make their rounds at eleven o'clock, to make sure that the students were back in their rooms. But this rule disturbed Alicia and Brittany's plans. Alicia looked at the clock on her left hand warily, occasionally hesitating. Meanwhile, Brittany was much more frightened because she had to do something she had never done before.Alicia and Britta
CHAPTER 20Knock! Knock! Knock! The sound of knocking on the door startled them. They exchanged glances with shocked expressions. Brittany reflexively covered her mouth before whispering to Alicia and Ace, "What now? There's someone else at the door!"Alicia looked at Ace who was now staring at the door of her room. It was almost midnight, who was visiting her room this late?"I'll check it out," Ace said in a low voice. He also looked cautious, not wanting anyone to overhear their conversation. The man raised his hands in the air, then continued, "You guys just hide under the bed. Make sure you don't make a sound when I open the door."Alicia and Brittany nodded their heads as Ace said that. They both ran and lowered their bodies just to hide. Whoever was outside Ace's door could have reported the two of them to the dorm elites. They would be in trouble if reported."I'm scared, Alicia," Brittany whispered, then covered her mouth with her trembling body. But Alicia's hands immediatel
