Sixty Four

CHAPTER 64

New York City police station.

"Check all guest lists that may be related to the victims in this book," Nicholas ordered.

As soon as Nicholas returned from the murder scene of the first victim (the Town Square theater), the serious expression of the young detective did not fade from his face. He didn't even give himself a break to rest or have a snack.

Nicholas immediately called Noel and handed him a black book that listed the VIP guests on the night Natalie performed-and was murdered. And based on the time of Natalie's death, which was suspected to have taken place during recess, Nicholas' suspicions about the stalking action carried out by the perpetrator before killing were even clearer.

The perpetrator must have stalked his victim since he was inside the theater.

In addition, the testimony of the building manager who doubles as a special guest receptionist and financial manager of the theater center said that the victim might have been approached by the perpetrator who pretended to be his own fan.

The handsome detective named Nicholas Gray sat down at his desk and moved quickly with his computer to double-check the criminal record of the victim (Natalie Heele) there, while Noel returned to his office to carry out his superior's orders; checking the list of names one by one.

The first victim, Natalie Heelee herself, may have lied to the people around her about her old job. But it was possible that it was the hospital that removed her name from the hospital's nurse search history.

"If Alicia is right about this, then I should have found...," Nicholas' words hung in the air as he found something that surprised him in one of the crime articles on the internet.

SUSPECTED OF MALPRACTICE, A NURSE ABANDONED HER PATIENT TO DEATH. -NEW YORK, 2000.

"Alicia wasn't wrong. This nurse must have something to do with Natalie," he said confidently.

Which made the young detective even more aggressively search for other articles related to nurses who might have committed crimes in the same year on other sites.

Nicholas' eyes rounded in disbelief as several pages of criminal record articles began to fill his computer screen.

ROSIE HEELE, OFFICIALLY A SUSPECT FOR CHILD ABUSE.

A NURSE COMMITTED MALPRACTICE ON HER FIVE PATIENTS UNTIL THEY DIED.

REFUSING TO CONFIRM, GOLDEN HOSPITAL ALLEGEDLY RECRUITED UNLICENSED NURSES.

"Golden Hospital?" Nicholas massaged his temples lightly. He read the name of the hospital again on the monitor. "Isn't this a famous hospital in New York City?"

And Noel's sudden presence made Nicholas gasp for a few moments. "Sorry to startle you, detective," Noel said, feeling bad. "I've checked the records for your special guest list."

"Oh, please have a seat, Noel."

The lanky detective then sat down opposite Nicholas. They were only separated by a transparent door, which made it possible for Noel to come in immediately. He handed the black book back to Nicholas, explaining, "There are thirty special guests arriving on the first schedule or at six in the evening. Among them are Russian and American state officials, a famous Italian diamond entrepreneur and some big businessmen in New York City. As for the second schedule of appearances, I could only find the names of famous artists in New York. "

"Okay. So?" Nicholas was clearly listening intently to the information Noel was now providing.

"Of the thirty special guests who attended the first schedule, there are only two people who will surprise you, detective." Nicholas immediately frowned deeply. "Ace Blake and Rich Greek."

"Who ... did you say?" asked Nicholas in disbelief.

"I told you, you'd be surprised." Noel then added, "But after I checked again, Ace Blake doesn't have any connection with the victim. Maybe he went there just to watch the show. As for Rich Greek himself, he is suspected to have communicated several times over the phone with Natalie."

"Have you verified that data?"

Of course, Noel nodded his head quickly. "The number matches Natalie's even though Rich saved the number under the name "flower" in his contacts," he said.

"Flowers?"

"It's not clear what the meaning of the flower designation itself is. But if I may be assuming, it looks like Natalie is Rich's lover. Because Rich Greek himself already has a wife and two legitimate children," said Noel. "But because they only communicate by phone, we can't find out the contents of their conversation. I've been trying to contact the phone service to request a recording of their last conversation, but it seems to be taking a while."

Nicholas sighed harshly. "Even if we get one shred of evidence, it will only make this case more complicated." He then crossed his arms over his chest and looked at Noel seriously. "But if you're right about their affair, it's more likely that Rich killed Natalie so that his wife wouldn't catch him in the act." He muttered. "Because the best secret keeper is death."

Noel nodded in agreement. "Do I need to ask about Natalie's relationship with Rich's family, detective?"

Nicholas hurriedly interrupted him. "Wait a minute! We have to find solid evidence that they are really related before we take action," he said firmly. "In a general article in 2000, I found a malpractice case committed by a nurse named Rosie Heele. Can you check this woman's data for me?"

"Rosie Heele, Natalie Heele, are they related or something?" joked Noel, who was taken seriously by her boss.

"Maybe they're sisters or just... the name Rosie itself is just a fake name that Natalie used back then," Nicholas said seriously. "You can check for me, right?"

And of course Noel agreed to his superior's request. "I'll check now," he said, rising from his chair. But she turned back. "Ah, speaking of detectives...,"

"Yes?" Nicholas looked up, giving Noel a curious look.

But Noel held back the urge to say something that was bothering him and lied, "Ah, not being a detective. I just wanted to say that you should rest." She then scratched the nape of her neck awkwardly. "Since this case opened, you've been eating late, haven't you? I was worried you'd be exhausted before we even find the culprit."

Then Nicholas was surprised for a few moments before finally smiling at his partner. "Thank you for worrying about me, but I'm fine." He then snapped his fingers in the air. "Ah, yes, also check Natalie's connection with Golden Hospital. Is it possible that the hospital she's talking about is the famous hospital?"

"Yes, detective."

Noel walked out of Nicholas' room to carry out his superior's instructions. Meanwhile, the twenty-five-year-old detective was busy with crime articles on his computer screen.

Indeed, he found nothing that led him to any evidence that Natalie Heele was the one who committed the crimes. But his little heart believed something now; that Natalie might be connected to Golden Hospital.

"Wait a minute, isn't Rich Greek a pharmaceutical equipment entrepreneur in this city?" Nicholas rubbed his chin slowly. Weighing the possibilities of this matter again. "If I'm right, maybe the hospital is what connects these two strangers. Natalie and Rich probably met at that place."

In the midst of his own confusion, Nicholas tried to check his cell phone that he kept in his jacket pocket. Hoping that the girl named Alicia who had been bothering his mind would check in with him after they parted ways earlier.

But there was nothing there.

Alicia seemed to be serious when she said that she would help him only until the police got solid evidence. For the rest, Nicholas would have to take care of it himself.

He sighed softly as he again had to bury his hopes about Alicia and decided to return to the computer screen in his study instead.

"But, what's wrong with Golden Hospital?" Nicholas again considered for a moment before finally deciding, "Well. It looks like I'll be visiting this hospital tomorrow to confirm everything." []
