CHAPTER 42
Aisle 001.
"WHY IS SHE DOING THIS TO ME?!"
Ace then threw all his belongings that were on the bed such as pillows, bolsters, blankets and even his personal towel onto the floor roughly. He also grabbed his hair in frustration after pacing incoherently in his own room a while ago.
"Ace, can you stop?" asked Luke. "You've said that to me more than ten times. Plus, you're giving me a headache by walking around like that."
Ace groaned in annoyance and threw his body on the mattress. He buried his face in the white sheets and let Luke, who was sitting on the furry carpet, roll his eyes lazily. "You look stupid doing all that stuff, you know," Luke added anxiously. To be honest, Luke had never seen Ace that upset in all his life. Plus, his best friend had just gotten upset over a girl.
"Why won't Alicia admit it, Luke?!" Ace sighed harshly and wiped his face as he turned around. Those dark brown eyes stared at the ceiling of his room dazedly. "She just hurt my pride, something that's never happened to me before," he continued.
Luke looked up and chuckled softly. "Why are you being so sensitive because of that 'crazy' girl, Ace?"
Ace then got up and squinted his eyes. Pointing at Luke, he said, "Don't call her 'crazy' again or I'll throw you into a pile of worms!"
Luke shuddered in horror and shook his head in disbelief. "I don't think she's the only one who's crazy, but you are too," he said. "Anyway, you should relax a bit with her. You're overreacting this time."
"But the thing is, she said that in front of Brittany," Ace said in a high tone. He spluttered again and turned his face the other way.
"So, what's the problem?"
Ace turned his head. Giving the curly-haired man an unhappy look. "Brittany will talk about it to the whole dorm and it will embarrass me forever!" Ace chuckled. "She'll lower my prestige as the most liked guy in this dorm."
Luke snorted in annoyance. "That's it?"
Luke's words made the dark-haired man immediately round his eyes and get up from the bed. Ace moved quickly towards Luke and pulled Luke's shirt collar so that their faces were now only inches apart.
Even in those dusky brown eyes, Luke could see that Ace's gaze was filled with anger. "Alicia, is the first girl who's ignored me! She just humiliated me in front of Brittany, that means she can humiliate me in front of everyone else!" Ace exclaimed, no matter how scared Luke was. "She's the first girl to reject me and that's really annoying! So--" Ace paused his sentence and pushed Luke roughly. "--don't ever make fun of that in front of me again."
Luke breathed a sigh of relief and smoothed his slightly wrinkled collar. "Alright. I'll stop talking about it. You were so creepy just now, I dare not oppose you," he said honestly. "By the way, you don't look like you're bothered by what other people think of you, Ace."
Ace scrunched his waist and raised one eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Luke thought for a moment before finally spilling his guts in front of Ace. "You just seem bothered by the ignoring she's doing to you," he said carefully. "Are you... in love with her?"
Ace chuckled amusedly. "You're kidding, huh?" He shook his head quickly. "Alicia will end up like the others. She'll be begging under my body and I'll blow her away like she was never there in the first place," he explained emphatically. "Luke, listen, Alicia means nothing to me. So, don't even think about me and that girl."
Knock... Knock...
Knock... Knock... Knock...
Ace and Luke gasped and turned to the door simultaneously. Curious, Luke got up and rushed to open the door to whoever their guest was that afternoon. And what was the surprise of both men, when they found Alicia standing with Nicholas behind the door.
Ace gasped in shock and hurriedly approached the door when he saw Alicia through the gap in Luke's body. "Alicia, you--what are you doing here?!" asked Ace in a half panic. He realized one thing immediately afterwards. It wasn't just Alicia and Nicholas standing there. Brittany and Noel were standing behind them with a look that Ace himself couldn't understand. "Wha--what's going on?!"
Nicholas cleared his throat. "We're conducting an investigation and search, as you already know," he said coldly. "So, stop pretending you don't know."
Ace sniggered. "Then, feel free to come in and check my room," he retorted sarcastically. "Wouldn't that be helpful for you to find the criminal?"
Just as Nicholas' foot was about to step inside, Alicia's hand, wrapped in many suede bracelets, suddenly restrained him. Nicholas of course immediately turned to the girl with the ash bead in confusion and Alicia who seemed to understand Nicholas' reaction hurriedly said, "Looks like I got the wrong person."
Ace raised both eyebrows in surprise. "Alicia."
Alicia snorted in amusement. "This person who expects me to beg on his bed couldn't have given me such an expensive gift, could he?" Alicia's face looked ice-cold as her gray softlens-covered eyes met Ace's. "Doesn't she just think of me as easy and worthless? I think that silver hairpin is too precious for someone like me. Isn't that right, Ace?"
Ace's mouth opened, but he couldn't even get a single word out. Her heart felt like it had been hit by something. She couldn't believe that Alicia heard it all; heard all the harsh words directed at her.
"Alicia, I--"
"Nic, you should do your investigation as soon as possible," Brittany interrupted. She grabbed Alicia's wrist and pulled her close. "One thing we've learned here is that everyone is trying to harm and frame Alicia. They wanted to kill her, no matter what." Ace, who felt Brittany was insinuating herself, reacted immediately.
"What do you mean, Britt?!" said Ace. "I couldn't possibly intend to harm Alicia or anyone else."
Brittany then let out a short snort. Crossing her arms over her chest and looking straight into those dark brown eyes, Brittany continued,

"Then, why did you give the silver hairpin to Alicia? Didn't you know that it was the missing evidence of James' death?" []
CHAPTER 43The main hallway of Golden High School.Alicia chose to leave hallway 001--or Ace's room to be more precise--after Brittany tried to pepper her with questions that Alicia really didn't care about.I don't know what the reason was, but it was clear that Alicia felt very uncomfortable after hearing Ace say such harsh words about her. The ash-colored girl hurriedly dismissed her thoughts about Ace and went down to the main hallway. She thought she needed some coffee or hot chocolate to ease her frazzled brain. But on the way, as Alicia walked down the main hallway, the sound of insistent sighs and moans could be heard from behind the warehouse door at the end of the hallway. It sounded like a stifled moan, as if she didn't want anyone to hear it.Alicia stepped carefully as she passed through the cellar door, in order to break her own curiosity. But before Alicia could reach the center of the sound, the door opened and a girl walked out.The girl was wearing a red jumpsuit. He
CHAPTER 44The main hall. That morning everyone looked fine, except for Ace who had gotten his eyes blackened due to trouble sleeping last night. His mind was filled with Alicia, he was so sorry after saying the words that hurt Alicia. He was going to meet Alicia in class that day, and his brain was still searching for solutions on how he should behave when he met Alicia.Luke appeared and tapped Ace on the shoulder, "Hi, Ace? Are you okay? Your face is pale."Ace turned his head without interest, then looked back at the hall podium with a confused expression. He was sitting in the back row alone at the moment. Sitting with his legs crossed and occasionally fiddling with the pen in his hand. His body was in the hall, but his mind was somewhere else. He was very confused, but couldn't express it well.Luke who saw Ace's reaction was different from his usual days frowned. He sat next to Ace, his gaze wandering around before he finally opened his mouth. "Is everything okay? Something see
CHAPTER 45Golden High School parking lot"Why are you calling me?"Nicholas immediately approached Alicia who was standing nervously beside his silver sports car. He also seemed to be in a hurry to get out of his car when he found her waiting for him there. A while ago, Alicia had called and said something was so urgent that the detective had immediately turned his car around and headed back to the dormitory.Alicia looked up in surprise. "Nic, there's something you should know," she said quickly.Nicholas muttered under his breath as he gave a quick shrug of his shoulders. "Yeah, I guess so. Considering you never engage me in conversation in the parking lot," he teased. "This must be very urgent and confidential, right?""I'm being serious, Nic," Alicia interrupted anxiously. And the young detective just chuckled amusedly before chuckling. "Well, what did you want to talk to me about here?"The black-haired girl leaned towards Nicholas after taking in the surroundings. The situation
CHAPTER 46Lorong 002, the scene of the crime."The police line has been set up, detective."Noel had just finished securing the crime scene and putting up a police line in front of Jake's bedroom door. He immediately reported the work of his two men to Detective Nicholas who chose to be in the room with the victim's body. The young detective immediately observed the crime scene as soon as he confirmed Jake's body was no longer alive and called Noel with him.No injuries were found on the victim's body other than the amount of fresh blood flowing from the victim's temple. The position of the victim's fall was immediately indicated as a form of brain injury due to the impact of a blunt object and the nightstand next to the victim's body was the only object that was considered strong enough as a tool to take the victim's life."When is the ambulance coming?" Nicholas asked Noel. There were only Noel and Nicholas there. The other two policemen were instructed to stand guard in front of t
CHAPTER 47Golden High School CEO's office."Are the results out yet?"Mr. Wilson, a man around fifty years old, was forced to sit with several people in his room. The chaos that occurred in the dormitory made him unable to help solve the problem. Because the case at hand involved the lives of students and the reputation of the dormitory."The forensic doctor said that the victim died about an hour ago, caused by head injuries from a violent impact and bleeding in the brain," Nicholas explained. He could no longer show his confident face in front of the man named Mr. Wilson at that time. He had broken his promise to catch the perpetrator as soon as possible."Who do you think did this, detective?" asked Mr. Wilson, his tone low but urgent. "The reputation of my dorm is at stake now.""The victim's death occurred when we sent a team of investigators to search every corner of the dormitory," said Nicholas. The dusky brown eyes then looked straight at the famous CEO sitting in his oversi
Chapter 48Golden High School's main hall."W-why was I brought to this place?"Julia Wane, the girl who was considered close to the victim (Jake) looked nervous as she sat in front of Nicholas and Noel.Responding to Jake's death, which was considered as one of the continued terrors carried out by the same perpetrator, made Nicholas finally make a significant decision. Also based on the permission of Wilson Blake and Paul Scoots (New York City's police chief), the dormitory's security was tightened by adding additional personnel at the main entrance and two other officers in the dormitory's auxiliary building. The girl with shoulder-length blonde hair gave the detective a worried look. Her lips and body were trembling. The color of her face was full of secrets that she could not reveal. "So, your name is Julia Wane?" Nicholas began.Julia herself was rumored to be in a special relationship with Jake so she was considered one of the people who might know the cause of the victim's deat
CHAPTER 49Cafeteria - 12:00"I can't believe you turned down that offer, Alicia."Alicia and Brittany walked hand in hand as they entered the cafeteria. After the Brooklyn girl decided to leave the music room, Alicia instantly became a hot topic in the dormitory. Everyone started talking about her."I'm sure Amanda has something to do with this," Alicia guessed. As soon as they reached the counter, Carl greeted Alicia and Brittany warmly. The glasses man smiled gently and asked, "Hi, how are you guys?" and looked at the two girls in turn. "I heard the dormitory tightened security after one more death." She shuddered in horror. "Why are there so many murders in this dorm, huh?"Brittany shrugged her shoulders lazily. "Maybe this dorm is cursed. Ah, never mind. Make me a bowl of caramel ice, Carl," she asked, to which the counterman immediately agreed."I heard that the handsome and competent detective is a close friend of yours, Britt. Is that true?" asked Carl as he struggled with so
CHAPTER 50San Antonia Cafe, New York.Alicia's blue irises blinked in disbelief several times when a blue buggy with silver stripes on each side of the doors pulled up right in front of her. She felt even more disbelief when Nicholas stepped out from behind the driver's seat and approached her."Ready?" Nicholas smiled gently as he opened the car door for Alicia.Alicia looked at Nicholas and the car in turn. The detective looked very dapper in his suit and fancy shirt. As for Alicia, she was only wearing a plain black T-shirt and a knee-length denim skirt. "I think I should change before getting into that car," she muttered. But Nicholas replied to Alicia's hesitation with an amused chuckle. "Come on in. You can be yourself while you're with me," he said soothingly.Like a shocking sting, Nicholas' words pulled Alicia out of her worries and into the car.Half the journey passed without anyone speaking. Nicholas looked calm behind the wheel, looking out over the never-ending night st
