CHAPTER 44
The main hall.
That morning everyone looked fine, except for Ace who had gotten his eyes blackened due to trouble sleeping last night. His mind was filled with Alicia, he was so sorry after saying the words that hurt Alicia. He was going to meet Alicia in class that day, and his brain was still searching for solutions on how he should behave when he met Alicia.
Luke appeared and tapped Ace on the shoulder, "Hi, Ace? Are you okay? Your face is pale."
Ace turned his head without interest, then looked back at the hall podium with a confused expression. He was sitting in the back row alone at the moment. Sitting with his legs crossed and occasionally fiddling with the pen in his hand. His body was in the hall, but his mind was somewhere else. He was very confused, but couldn't express it well.
Luke who saw Ace's reaction was different from his usual days frowned. He sat next to Ace, his gaze wandering around before he finally opened his mouth. "Is everything okay? Something seemed to disturb your sleep, didn't it? Say, we're friends after all."
"I don't know, I just don't know what to say."
"This has to be about Alicia, right?"
Yes, Luke knew very well that Ace had no intention of saying such harsh things to Alicia. Didn't even expect her to overhear the conversation the two of them had yesterday. But Luke in the end let his best friend do whatever he wanted.
"I'm not in the mood to talk about it," Ace ended. He was losing interest.
Not long after her chat with Luke ended, Alicia was seen entering the hall with Brittany. They looked very close. At first, Ace pretended not to notice, but that day, something strange happened. Some girls started greeting Alicia, most of them asking how the day went and other small talk. They didn't usually do that. Ace turned curious now.
Ace pulled Luke's sleeve and whispered. "Luke, what's wrong with Alicia?" When Luke turned his head, Ace lifted his chin, pointing at Alicia's sitting position with his face. "Everyone seems to be approaching her."
Luke muttered and squinted his eyes at Alicia. The view in front of him was indeed a bit different from usual. The girls in the history class suddenly approached him and tried to talk to him. "I heard she's going to join the popular girl group," Luke said. Yes, the curly-haired boy had managed to get the rumor from some girls gossiping in the dorm hallway earlier that morning.
And Acepun bent his forehead deeply. "You mean, she's going to replace Elena?"
"I don't know, I heard Jennie is another candidate and they're competing."
Ace shook his head in disbelief and turned back to Alicia and Brittany. A few girls were sitting around them and trying to make conversation. "But she doesn't look like she wants the position," Ace guessed. "Besides, she's just the new kid here. Why should she?"
Luke widened his eyes and tapped Ace on the shoulder. "You're stupid, aren't you? Alicia is the only new kid who managed to get into your car, you know, that kind of thing is a good reputation in this dormitory for her," Luke finished with a smirk. "She was the first girl to do it."
"But that girl denies it, Luke." Ace tried to contain his annoyance, so his voice sounded heavier and lower. After all, it was already like a disgrace to Ace himself. "How did the girls know?"
Luke let out a short sigh. "Ace Blake, do you know that your position here is as someone very important and all news about you will always be the main topic of the dormitory?" The hazel-haired man scratched his hair anxiously. "Ah, never mind, the point is that no matter how small, as long as it's news about you... I'm sure the whole dormitory will know."
After that, Ace no longer opened his voice. He preferred to remain silent and watch the scene before him. Alicia had just turned into the center of attention and it was all because of her. Couldn't that be a reason for him to talk to Alicia?
But suddenly Jake came and approached Alicia. With a black backpack over his shoulder, Jake looked downcast in front of Alicia.
Curiosity grew in Ace's chest when suddenly Alicia got up from the chair and left with the tall man. "Where are they going?" Ace asked curiously.
Luke just shrugged lazily. "I don't know and I don't think it's any of your business, Ace," he snapped. "You remember what you said yesterday, don't you?"
Damn. I was so curious about those two. Alicia and Jake.

"What's wrong, Jake? By the way, you didn't return my cell phone yesterday."
Alicia crossed her arms over her chest as soon as she and Jake reached the main hallway. Jake said there was something he wanted to say in confidence earlier and they needed a quieter space to maintain privacy. And Alicia didn't want to mince words.
Jake scratched the nape of his neck awkwardly before finally looking into Alicia's eyes. "I... I'm sorry, Alicia," he said nervously.
"Forgive you?"
Jake suddenly threw himself to the floor and knelt down. He looked down at his knees and stared guiltily at the gazzzled floor. "I didn't mean to hurt you, I just... I was just being ordered around by someone," he said half-sobbing. "I... I was ordered by someone because I thought you were holding things up."
Alicia was silent for a moment before finally opening her voice. "Who was telling you what to do all this time?" Alicia asked flatly. As if Jake's confession didn't surprise her at all.
Jake looked up, stuttering slightly as he opened his mouth in front of Alicia. But finally, the undercut-haired man said, "I... I, I was... commanded by Ace Blake."
Alicia's gray eyes rounded instantly. "Ace? You mean, the one who's been with me all this time?" Jake nodded slowly. "What did you do to me, Jake? What did he order you to do?!" her tone of voice turned impatient and curious at the same time.
Jake again looked doubtful, but he looked straight into Alicia's eyes and said,

"I'm the one who attacked you in hallway three, Alicia," he said hoarsely. "I... I was the one who put the iron wire around your neck. I pretended to be a girl and... I harmed you with my own hands, Alicia perth." []
CHAPTER 45Golden High School parking lot"Why are you calling me?"Nicholas immediately approached Alicia who was standing nervously beside his silver sports car. He also seemed to be in a hurry to get out of his car when he found her waiting for him there. A while ago, Alicia had called and said something was so urgent that the detective had immediately turned his car around and headed back to the dormitory.Alicia looked up in surprise. "Nic, there's something you should know," she said quickly.Nicholas muttered under his breath as he gave a quick shrug of his shoulders. "Yeah, I guess so. Considering you never engage me in conversation in the parking lot," he teased. "This must be very urgent and confidential, right?""I'm being serious, Nic," Alicia interrupted anxiously. And the young detective just chuckled amusedly before chuckling. "Well, what did you want to talk to me about here?"The black-haired girl leaned towards Nicholas after taking in the surroundings. The situation
CHAPTER 46Lorong 002, the scene of the crime."The police line has been set up, detective."Noel had just finished securing the crime scene and putting up a police line in front of Jake's bedroom door. He immediately reported the work of his two men to Detective Nicholas who chose to be in the room with the victim's body. The young detective immediately observed the crime scene as soon as he confirmed Jake's body was no longer alive and called Noel with him.No injuries were found on the victim's body other than the amount of fresh blood flowing from the victim's temple. The position of the victim's fall was immediately indicated as a form of brain injury due to the impact of a blunt object and the nightstand next to the victim's body was the only object that was considered strong enough as a tool to take the victim's life."When is the ambulance coming?" Nicholas asked Noel. There were only Noel and Nicholas there. The other two policemen were instructed to stand guard in front of t
CHAPTER 47Golden High School CEO's office."Are the results out yet?"Mr. Wilson, a man around fifty years old, was forced to sit with several people in his room. The chaos that occurred in the dormitory made him unable to help solve the problem. Because the case at hand involved the lives of students and the reputation of the dormitory."The forensic doctor said that the victim died about an hour ago, caused by head injuries from a violent impact and bleeding in the brain," Nicholas explained. He could no longer show his confident face in front of the man named Mr. Wilson at that time. He had broken his promise to catch the perpetrator as soon as possible."Who do you think did this, detective?" asked Mr. Wilson, his tone low but urgent. "The reputation of my dorm is at stake now.""The victim's death occurred when we sent a team of investigators to search every corner of the dormitory," said Nicholas. The dusky brown eyes then looked straight at the famous CEO sitting in his oversi
Chapter 48Golden High School's main hall."W-why was I brought to this place?"Julia Wane, the girl who was considered close to the victim (Jake) looked nervous as she sat in front of Nicholas and Noel.Responding to Jake's death, which was considered as one of the continued terrors carried out by the same perpetrator, made Nicholas finally make a significant decision. Also based on the permission of Wilson Blake and Paul Scoots (New York City's police chief), the dormitory's security was tightened by adding additional personnel at the main entrance and two other officers in the dormitory's auxiliary building. The girl with shoulder-length blonde hair gave the detective a worried look. Her lips and body were trembling. The color of her face was full of secrets that she could not reveal. "So, your name is Julia Wane?" Nicholas began.Julia herself was rumored to be in a special relationship with Jake so she was considered one of the people who might know the cause of the victim's deat
CHAPTER 49Cafeteria - 12:00"I can't believe you turned down that offer, Alicia."Alicia and Brittany walked hand in hand as they entered the cafeteria. After the Brooklyn girl decided to leave the music room, Alicia instantly became a hot topic in the dormitory. Everyone started talking about her."I'm sure Amanda has something to do with this," Alicia guessed. As soon as they reached the counter, Carl greeted Alicia and Brittany warmly. The glasses man smiled gently and asked, "Hi, how are you guys?" and looked at the two girls in turn. "I heard the dormitory tightened security after one more death." She shuddered in horror. "Why are there so many murders in this dorm, huh?"Brittany shrugged her shoulders lazily. "Maybe this dorm is cursed. Ah, never mind. Make me a bowl of caramel ice, Carl," she asked, to which the counterman immediately agreed."I heard that the handsome and competent detective is a close friend of yours, Britt. Is that true?" asked Carl as he struggled with so
CHAPTER 50San Antonia Cafe, New York.Alicia's blue irises blinked in disbelief several times when a blue buggy with silver stripes on each side of the doors pulled up right in front of her. She felt even more disbelief when Nicholas stepped out from behind the driver's seat and approached her."Ready?" Nicholas smiled gently as he opened the car door for Alicia.Alicia looked at Nicholas and the car in turn. The detective looked very dapper in his suit and fancy shirt. As for Alicia, she was only wearing a plain black T-shirt and a knee-length denim skirt. "I think I should change before getting into that car," she muttered. But Nicholas replied to Alicia's hesitation with an amused chuckle. "Come on in. You can be yourself while you're with me," he said soothingly.Like a shocking sting, Nicholas' words pulled Alicia out of her worries and into the car.Half the journey passed without anyone speaking. Nicholas looked calm behind the wheel, looking out over the never-ending night st
CHAPTER 51San Antonia Cafe, New York. -10:30 pm."Just get to the point.""Why are you being so rash? We haven't even enjoyed the food yet.""I'm not here to make small talk with you.""So, why did you agree to come here to see me?" Amanda grinned victoriously. "Come on, Ace. What's wrong with being on my side?"The atmosphere in the cafe that night was not too crowded, there were only a few tables occupied by customers who were predominantly lovers. Amanda and Ace deliberately sat in a corner of the cafe to avoid leaking their conversation to the public."I'm not interested in anything you have to offer," Ace said briefly. But the brunette girl who dyed the ends of her hair with red highlights smiled back. She cut into the steak dish that the waitress had served earlier casually. "You know that Alicia is getting involved, right?" Amanda sarcastically asked him."Don't talk about it, I'm not in the mood," Ace replied lazily.Ever since he found out that Alicia was going on a date wit
CHAPTER 52Main Hall, 12:00 am."So, you guys are already dating? Really 'dating' like a couple?"It was Luke. He was sitting next to Ace in the main hall of the dormitory since ten minutes ago. Nicholas had called them both through Noel and the two chose to chat while waiting for the young detective to come meet them."I don't know, I guess we just went for a walk," Ace replied lightly and then went back to the game on his phone.Luke squinted. "That would be a lie. You guys must have... well, look, your faces are glowing today." He raised both eyebrows ignorantly. "Something must have happened, right?""We just made up and started being friends."Luke shrugged his shoulders dismissively. "Being friends is a sign that you and Alicia have made peace with your complicated relationship," he said sagely. "That's good news.""By the way, where's Nicholas?" Ace changed the subject and looked around. "What did he call us here for?""I don't know," Luke replied nonchalantly, as he got busy w
