“How’s my favorite girl doing?” My mum giggled as she entered the guest room I’d been settled in.

“Hi Mum,” I smiled, greeting her with a hug as Lizzy, one of the staff rolled my suitcase in. “Thank you,” I said to Lizzy. She offered a polite smile and left.

“Oh…Lily, I’m glad to see you looking better today.”

“I am mum. Yesterday. was, too much for me. I didn’t expect the turn of events.”

“I understand. You know, surprises can be heartwarming, especially when you think of all the effort put into them.”

“Yeah. But not an unwelcome surprise or a bad turn of event no one saw coming.”
