Chapter 8

(Prince Nyx POV)

I stared at the guy in front of me. I had my guard up in case he recognizes me.

I knew he was an earth soldier. He wore one of the uniforms of the active fighters of this planet. I fought many people with his uniform. As far I know they are specialized in combat and hunting.

Isabella was taking care of my wound while he watched us silently.

"I have informed your headquarters. They had thought you died" The man finally spoke.

I tilted my head and looked at him confused.

"He has no memory of his past, Daniel. But I have told him of what I know. Like his name and his job." Isabella said as the man named Daniel nodded his head.

"I see. It's ok. I have told your group you are safe in this clinic. They did request for a transfer of clinic so you will be closer to your troops but it's a huge risk. Recently the attack has been more prominent." He said his face filled with anger.

"That good for nothing aliens have attacked 3 refugee camps. We lost a countless number of people. One of them was a fucking children camp!" the earthling said as I tensed.

Children camp?

"Did anyone make it alive?" Isabella asked worriedly.

"Only a hand full. The attack was sudden. The soldiers were unprepared" he said as I sighed.

"But we're able to find out one thing," he said gaining my interest.

"Prince Nyx of the Zylians went missing a week ago," he said as my eyes widen.

"He is missing?" Isabella asked as the soldier nodded.

"Yes. He is the one who will be crowned as the future king of Zylian." He said as we nodded.

"The government has sent off a notice. If we can find the prince we will be rewarded dearly. If we get our hands on the prince we will be able to have the upper hand over the Zylians" he said as I tensed.

"What do you think will they do with the prince?" Isabella asked.

"I don't know. Most probably blackmail the Zylians. Maybe kill him. Or experiment with their weakness. I'm not sure" Daniel said as I sighed.

Great more reason to get out of here.

After that Daniel went back to his camp base. The clinic was busy as new patients came in.

I watched as Isabelle walked around the room tending to the new patients. It seems like there was an attack and this time it was even bigger.

I have been here for a week and my absence must have caused panic among my people.

I should go back soon.

I can almost walk without any pain but she still suggests I do therapy for 3 more days.

I have also noticed that as time pass I am falling in love with my mate. She is different from any other girl I met.

She cares for everyone, prioritizes everyone before her.

Today morning she was acting very strangely. At one moment I saw her smiling and laughing with that child Rosie, the next time I saw her in a room crying alone.

She was clutching onto something and crying silently

It broke my heart to see her like this.

"Isabelle" I called as her whole body tensed.

She quickly put the thing down and I saw that it was a photo frame.

"What happened?" I asked.

"It nothing," she said as she turned, her back facing me. She wiped her tears but it seems more was coming out.

My heart clenched at the sight of my hurt mate and I hate this feeling.

She is my enemy.

An involuntary sob broke through, snapping my head to her.

"I'm... sorry. Shit. I wished you didn't see me like this. I just... um..." she couldn't finish as she let out another wheeze.

My body moved on its own and I grabbed hold of her hand in an attempt to comfort her.

But she surprised me by turning around and hugging me completely. I tensed not knowing what to do.

"It's my papa's 6th death anniversary," she said her voice hoarse from crying.

I sighed and wrapped one arm around her waist while the other ran through her hair.

"It's ok. Let it all out" I said as she grabbed hold of my shirt and cried.

Don't know how long we have been standing here but my leg started to pain real bad. But I didn't tell her.

I kissed the top of her head as she kept crying.

A part of me was aching for her but the other part kept shouting how wrong this is.

She is my mate but she is also my enemy.

If my father finds out about this he will definitely kill her. I can't let that happen.

And I can't fall for this forbidden relation. I know it will never end well.

I will have to leave this place soon. As fast as possible. Today when everyone is asleep I will go back.

But for this one last time, I want to hold her.
