Chapter 64

Author: Dream Fish
Angela slowly took out the meal she had brought, following the meal plan provided by Dexter's nutritionist. It consisted of a quinoa salad with roasted vegetables, grilled chicken breast with a light vinaigrette, steamed asparagus, and fresh tomato soup.

"Spoon and fork," Dexter said, extending his hand as if it were expected.

Angela glanced at him, realizing he was seriously about to eat her food. She couldn't hold back anymore. "The food is cold. How about you heat it up before eating?"

Dexter paused, staring at her. "Don't you have a brain? Why didn't you heat it up at the cafeteria before bringing it over?"

His mood seemed to have soured, and his voice was sharper than usual.

In the past, Angela would have immediately apologized and tried to smooth things over. But today, she slammed her spoon down onto the table, making a loud sound.

"Do I not have a brain? What about you?" she snapped, her frustration boiling over. "If you've got someone else bringing you food, why do you

"Oh, so this is the legendary Mrs. Bamford. It's a pleasure to meet you," the man said enthusiastically, extending his hand to Angela.Dexter gave him a pointed look. "Go heat your food," he said flatly. The man immediately looked embarrassed and turned to put his meal in the microwave.Angela kept quiet and maintained her smile. However, deep down, she was displeased with Dexter introducing her as his wife in public.Just as she was about to leave after lunch, he insisted on taking her to the nearby mall to go shopping."What are you doing?" Angela tried to pull away, but he wouldn't let go.Before she knew it, he'd already dragged her into the elevator, heading straight for the women's section on the third floor. They'd been married for over three years, yet she'd never had the privilege of Dexter personally taking her out to buy clothes. Her wardrobe had always been chosen by a stylist according to Dexter's preferences. Of course, the expensive custom-made gowns weren't her

Angela was left speechless. She couldn't care less about these material things. If Dexter wanted to show off his money, that was his business. "There aren't that many options, but if any of you like something, feel free to take it," she said casually, leaning back into her chair and pulling out her tablet to check on her work. The room fell silent. Everyone looked at Angela in disbelief, unsure if they had misheard her. "Angela, what did you just say?" Clara was the first to react, staring at Angela in shock."You heard me the first time." Angela shrugged. With that, she turned her chair around and leaned back as if settling in to watch the drama unfold. The next second, the women erupted into chaos. "That's mine! I want that dress!""That one's the latest design! I want it!""I want the white one! It's mine!"In mere seconds, all 12 dresses were snatched up. "If only there were some for guys…" Alan commented with a sigh. George, who had just been aggressively pushe

"How long are you planning to stay here?" Angela was fuming. It seemed that Dexter was planning to stay at her house for a while."Didn't you hear what Grandpa said? He said I can only go back when you're ready to return home." Dexter replied casually. He leaned back on the couch with a shrug and a helpless expression."Fine, you can stay! But I'm warning you, you're only allowed in the living room and the guest bedroom. Don't even think of going anywhere else, especially not the second floor!" Angela retorted coldly, the frustration clear in her voice.Dexter shrugged again. "You say it as if I want to stay here."Angela was at a loss for words. "If that's the case, why don't you just explain to Grandpa that we…"Just before she could finish her sentence, she realized that the maids hadn't left yet. So, she quickly swallowed back her words and shot a glare at Dexter.Dexter's face darkened instantly. He ordered everyone to leave in a low voice.Once they were alone, he stood up

To Angela's surprise, it was Erica who had arrived."What are you doing here?" Angela asked coldly. She maintained her grip on both sides of the door—she had no intention of letting someone she disliked into her house. Erica was also a bit surprised to see Angela. She'd thought Angela wouldn't be back until later."I'm here to deliver some documents to Mr. Bamford," Erica replied, trying to keep her irritation in check. She added in a low voice, "I see you've gotten better at your game, Ms. Graham. You've managed to get Mr. Bamford to come here—impressive."Her words were laced with mockery. Angela didn't feel the need to explain herself. Instead, she reached out for the documents. Erica immediately stopped her. "These are confidential files from Bamford Co. You're just an outsider. How dare you try to take them?" She deliberately stressed the word "outsider".Angela rolled her eyes inwardly. She couldn't care less about what Erica said.Just then, Erica pushed the door

"Mr. Bamford?" Erica's eyes widened in disbelief.Angela was also a little confused. Nevertheless, she couldn't care less about Dexter's sudden change in attitude."300 thousand dollars. Not a penny less." Angela crossed her arms. A hint of mockery flashed across her gaze as she looked at Erica.300 thousand dollars wasn't nearly enough to compensate for the humiliation Erica had caused her in the past, but it was enough to vent her anger. "Mr. Bamford, I don't have that much money on hand right now…" Erica gritted her teeth in frustration. Under the pressure from Dexter, she could only suppress her anger and shoot Angela a sharp glare. "I'll have my sister bring the money," Erica added, drawing out each word. Luckily for her, Elena was just around the corner. She arrived at Villa Heights within 20 minutes. After hearing about the situation, Elena was slightly taken aback. "Mr. Bamford, about that event you mentioned…" "Don't even think about it!" Dexter stood up abruptly, ready to storm out, leaving Angela staring at his retreating figure. He was furious. Initially, he thought that Angela would feel angry or disappointed because he had comforted Elena. However, to his surprise, Angela was only focused on the benefits he could bring to her. Did she really think of DawnStar Design to be that important? What a joke! He'd rather invite any no-name design company to the event before allowing anyone from DawnStar to set foot into Bamford Co.!Angela's smile faded, and her expression darkened instantly. "Just so that you know, you're staying at my place for free, living off of me, and even letting others come in here to stir up trouble—and I haven't said a word about it," Angela retorted.Dexter stopped in his tracks and sneered coldly. "Then enlighten me. How much is that so-called antique crystal vase of yours actually worth?""Ten thousan

Upon hearing the news, Angela's frustration intensified further. She stood up abruptly and rushed to the nursing room. "There's no point in crying now, Celine! The data is all gone, and you were the only one here just now. How do you expect me to believe you?" Nora stood at the door of the nursing room in a commanding stance."It wasn't me! I was just here to feed my baby. My baby is still crying right now. I don't have the time or intention to touch your laptop. You're accusing me for no reason!"Celine Howe, an employee at DawnStar Design, had gotten married last year and given birth a few months ago. Due to her family's financial situation, she had chosen to breastfeed her baby. Earlier this afternoon, her mother-in-law had brought her baby over for feeding. However, a few minutes after she entered the nursing room, the door was kicked open, and Nora came barging in. She took a brief glance at her laptop and immediately accused Celine of deleting her confidential files."I

"Don't worry. We can't just let this slide." Angela reassured Celine, patting her on the back gently. Then, she turned to Nora and said, "If you think I'm being biased, let's investigate this issue together and see what really happened."Nora's expression darkened; the displeasure in her eyes grew even more evident. Her fury was at its peak, yet she could do nothing but swallow it down.Angela quickly called in the IT staff to restore the data on Nora's laptop. To everyone's surprise, Nora immediately objected. "My laptop contains confidential information. How could they look at it?"Angela was speechless. "We can have them sign a non-disclosure agreement. If anything leaks, they'll be held responsible. Do you still have a problem with that?" She shot Nora a brief glance, her gaze carried a hint of disdain. Soon, Clara brought over the non-disclosure agreement prepared by the company's legal department and politely handed them to the two technicians. The two technicians

Angela had already humbled herself significantly. Despite Joel's consistent indifference, he found it increasingly difficult to dismiss her completely. After all, those who came here were far from ordinary. In the end, he agreed. He would just treat it as a game to see if she was anything like Bill. Angela and Joel soon found themselves on the ring. Angela felt honored and bowed to Joel. Despite secretly looking down on her, Joel maintained a gentlemanly demeanor and smiled. After that, it was time for a heated exchange. Joel sarcastically said, "I'll draw the line somewhere and do my best not to hurt you."Angela smiled with determination, replying, "I'll give it my all until I defeat you." Joel frowned, wondering what this arrogant woman was planning. The battle began quickly. Joel was obviously different from the other contestants Angela went up against. He toyed with her, effortlessly neutralizing her attacks and waiting for her next move, like a cat playing with a mo

Jorina launched a powerful uppercut at Angela, but the latter anticipated the attack and swiftly evaded it. Then, she lowered her stance and delivered a decisive strike to Jorina's abdomen. Her strength was astonishing as well. It was truly unexpected. With another powerful strike, she forced Jorina back a few paces, causing her to lose her balance and crash to the ground. The audience was left in shock. Meanwhile, a hint of a smile graced Dexter's lips, and admiration sparkled in his eyes.In the first match, Angela won effortlessly. The second and third matches followed, and once again, she secured victory easily. She was stunned. When her opponent was knocked out in the third match, she gazed at her fist in disbelief. She couldn't believe that she possessed such strength. It was utterly shocking. The audience buzzed with excitement, captivated by her presence. "Wow, she's incredible! Not only did the male contestants boast impressive muscles, but even the female participants also showcased clearly defined physiques and strength. It appeared that Angela's muscles fell short in comparison."Could you please pass me a towel?" a female contestant requested Angela politely. This female contestant was notably larger, with shoulders that were one and a half times wider than Angela's. When she stood up, her shadow completely covered Angela, making the latter look particularly thin. Yet, she seemed completely oblivious to anything amiss, or perhaps she simply chose not to care, even if she did notice."I'm sorry. But I'm a contestant too, so I don't know where the towel is."After saying that, Angela sensed the gaze of those around her. Some expressions were a mix of shock; others hinted at disdain, while most radiated contempt. Yet, she felt self-satisfied and unfazed by their reactions. Despite her petite stature, she was proud of her hard-earned muscles and confi

Nigel never expected Angela to be this determined—at the very least, her perseverance was commendable.By the time Dexter arrived, Angela was already battered and bruised. With clenched teeth, she desperately tried to fight back, but she was blocked time and time again. It was downright tragic to watch."Dexter, you have to talk some sense into her!" Fiona pleaded anxiously. Watching Angela get knocked down over and over again made her wince just from witnessing it.Dexter's face was dark with frustration. He stared intently at the bruised Angela on the training ground, unable to vent his anger and frustration. What right did he have to stop her? The more he tried to talk sense into her, the more stubborn she became, and the more she would deliberately go against him.She didn't even see herself as a woman anymore—she was acting like a lunatic."Why would I do that? Let her suffer." Dexter scoffed coldly, turning away.At first, everyone around Angela tried to dissuade her from

Yet, the way Nigel spoke was a bit strange and amusing.Feeling her blood boiling with excitement, Angela nearly laughed out loud. She barely managed to suppress it before nodding firmly. "Understood. I'll do my best not to disappoint you, coach."Her determination was unwavering. This wasn't just a fight for herself—it was another battle for Graham Group. She had to start strong, with full confidence, and give it her all to seize everything she wanted.Nigel looked at her with a complex expression, watching her for a long moment before a trace of hesitation flickered in his eyes."If you're really sure about this, then there's nothing more to say. You can start by fighting me."Angela immediately felt a chill run down her spine. She had learned everything she knew from Joanne, who had always praised her perseverance and rapid improvement. But that didn't mean she was ready to take on a state-level kickboxing coach!"What, got cold feet?" Nigel raised an eyebrow at her. "If y

"But this whole issue started because of Mr. Graham," Clara explained. "Apparently, he and Joel were love rivals in their youth, which made them particularly dislike each other."Their rivalry has lasted to this day. Even though Mr. Graham is no longer involved in company affairs, Joel still refuses to let us off."Angela was stunned. "Love rivals? Joel also liked Judy?"Clara shook her head fervently. "No, not her. I believe he liked Madam Marie."The moment those words left her mouth, Clara looked a bit uneasy, not daring to lift her head.Marie was no stranger—she was Angela's mother.Angela remained silent, flipping through the information Clara had compiled on Joel. Her gaze lingered on his picture. He was a man in his 50s who still had an air of refined elegance.Joel Crawford… Marie had never mentioned him, nor had she left behind any notes about him.Angela couldn't help but wonder whether Joel had gone against Bill all these years as a way to avenge Marie. It seemed

As Angela noticed Dexter's slightly tense face, an unexplainable thought arose in her mind. She could almost picture him awkwardly giving orders to Rocky, telling him to hire online commenters to stir up rumors about them.Rocky would probably think he had misheard and ask for confirmation, only to be scolded in a low voice before he scurried away with his tail between his legs.Clearing her throat, Angela asked casually, "Have you eaten?" Dexter didn't meet her gaze. "I have." Then, he quickly went upstairs."I genuinely think he has strong feelings for you. Are you really not going to consider being with him? It's not every day you come across a good man like him—even in a place like Eldmere City."Chuckling, Mia then added, "Besides, he's completely devoted to you. Imagine the prestige of being able to conquer a man like that!"Angela merely smiled noncommittally. The world truly didn't make sense. Since ancient times, men had always been the ones taught to pursue power,

For some reason, everyone thinks you two are a perfect match. There's even merchandise of you guys—can you believe that?"Mia came over to hang out with Angela and casually brought up the topic. The two women immediately started buzzing about it.Angela began to laugh so hard that the injury on her back got tugged, making her grimace in pain."Does no one care about how I got hurt? Everyone remained silent, staring straight at the person in the center of the stage. As if nothing had happened before, Angela calmly took the trophy from the event hostess, maintaining her smile and handing it to each award recipient in an orderly manner.Clara, one of the outstanding employees, stood at the front of the line. The moment she received the award from Angela, she could no longer hold back. Tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down uncontrollably."Does… does it hurt?" Her voice was choked with emotion, heartache evident in every word.Curving her lips into a reassuring smile, Angela wiped away Clara's tears. "I'm fine.
