The phone ringing loudly woke Riele. She checked the caller and it was Charlotte. She glance at the clock, it was 9 am. She didn't need to be told what to do.
She took her bath and came out in less than ten minutes. She searched for a gown to wear and she picked a flowery sleeveless gown. She wore her heels to go with it.
She had to board a taxi to get to work because she knew the bus had left and she had to find her way to work.
"I guess I was exhausted after last night," she told herself when Charlotte called again. She picked up the call and the voice that welcomed her was Charlotte screaming her name and asking her where she is.
"I will be right there, it will just take a second," Riele explained.
"A second uh? Well, just for your information, Mr. Handsome is angry. So I will advise you to start preparing the speech you are going to give to him," Charlotte warned.
"Thanks, girlfriend." She hung up as she thought of the speech to give Kim.

"So you are saying it's your dream to be a model?" Kim asked the young lady in front of him without glancing at her because his eyes were glued to the file in his hands.
"Yes."
"What do you know about modeling?" He looked up at her, his attention focused on her.
"From my perspective, I will say modeling is a platform where people get to be satisfied with their looks and bodies thereby revealing to the world that no matter what or who you are, you are beautiful and they should appreciate themselves more."
"Do you think it's fair for modeling to be for thin people?" He asked.
"Modeling isn't for thin people, but for people that are fit. If modeling was for thin people then it's not living up to its name because people that aren't thin will doubt their worth which isn't fair."
He was impressed with her answer. "So why did you choose this modeling industry?"
Because a cute CEO like you exist? I mean what other reasons would I have? She muttered to herself, staring deeply at him. He shifted his gaze away from her and back to the file.
He looked up at her when he saw that she hadn't responded to his question. "Are you still here?" He asked.
"Um... I chose this industry because I doubt I would qualify for other modeling firms."
"Have we met before... Miss Madison Corel?"He asked her as he placed his hands on his jaw staring at her and waiting for an answer.
Madison stood there trying to remember if she had had any encounter with him but she hasn't. "None that I know of," she answered.
A knock was heard on the door and through the transparent glass door, he knew who it was. "Come in!"
Riele entered with her head bent low. "I am sorry about this morning," she started to apologize.
"Is this the resumption time?" He asked, staring sternly at her.
"That's why I am apologizing."
"And where is the model you were supposed to get in touch with?" He asked when he saw her come in alone.
If you'd just let me explain before bombarding me with questions, you will know where he is, but no. Riele thought.
She cleared her throat before speaking. "He was um..."
Kim gestured to her to stop talking because of the call that came in. While he was answering the call, Riele was glancing at the lady in front of her. Is he replacing me with her? Oh my God! I can see why Charlotte told me to get my speech ready.
"Ok. Thank you so much for contacting me."
The moment Kim ended the call, Riele fell to her knees pleading.
"I am so sorry, sir. I know I haven't been a good P.A ever since you took over and I know I don't deserve a second chance, but please do not replace me or send me out of here."
Kim was shocked that he looked at Madison to see if she understood what the drama was all about, but Madison looked shocked too.
"You know what, you are right!" He decided to play along. "I see I have been very lenient with you and that is why you don't regard me. That's why you do whatsoever you want because you know I am a fool who wouldn't do a single thing about it, isn't that right?"
You are right about you being a fool when you decided to take Kim Utter as our model. And lenient? Seriously? Riele thought.
"Not at all sire. I will never think of such a thing."
She wondered how her head was thinking something different, but her mouth uttered something else. Isn't the head and mouth supposed to work together?
"I see," he said as he stood up from his chair and stood in front of his desk folding his arms across his chest as he balanced and stared at Riele who was still on her knees. "Just so you know, I have exchanged your position with Charlotte which means, she's now my P.A while you take over her position as the instructor."
"What?!" Riele asked in shock.
"Do you have a problem with that?" He asked.
Riele shook her head and stood up. I just suffered my knees for nothing.
Ruthless jerk!
If only he knew what I had to go through last night to get him his model, he won't treat me like this.
"This is Madison, she is the new female model."
Riele walked closer to the girl to see if it was the same Madison or someone else.
"Madison?"
"Nice to meet you again, Riele." Madison greeted with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" Riele asked.
"Are you even listening when I am talking to you?" Kim asked.
I should probably ask you the same question. Riele answered in her mind.
"I am the new female model has Mr. Kim aforementioned." Madison told her.
"But how?" Riele was about to question her when Kim gestured for her to leave.
She bit her lips so hard that they almost started bleeding. No one has ever treated her so rudely before not even Mr. Owen.
She was everyone's favorite, but why things are different with him, she couldn't understand. She was about to take her to leave when Kim called her attention.
"And one more thing," he said, throwing her a file. "Tell Charlotte to bring that guy to my office as soon as he gets here."
"Who is he?" Riele asked.
"It's not your business anymore. Your business is to take care of the models in your care. Now leave!"
He went back to his seat while he gave some information to Madison.
Riele left, but she made sure she bang the door so loud that he could tell her annoyance from it. She handed the file to Charlotte who was looking at her and the file.
"Why are you giving it to me? Shouldn't you be the one in charge?"
"Not anymore," Riele answered. "He said you should bring whoever that guy is to his office the moment he gets here."
Charlotte opened the file and the picture she saw shocked her. Riele noticed how frozen she became in nanoseconds.
"Are you okay?" Riele asked.
"Charlotte, I think this is for you," One of the staff told Charlotte and she excused herself to see what was going on.
Getting there, she saw the guy she saw in the picture standing right in front of her.
He was a tall and muscular man. The shirt he wore hugged him so tightly like they were made for each other, his eyes were dark brown and due to the lights that were reflecting into them, they glowed. His lips were damn beautiful.
She had to clear her throat to get her attention back.
"I guess you must be Jay, right?" She asked. The guy nodded. "Right this way," Charlotte gestured for him to follow after her which he did. He caught her whispering something to someone so he took a glance at the person.
It's her. He said to himself with a smile before entering the office with Charlotte.
Jay entered the office with Charlotte in front of her. "Jay!" Kim greeted him with a hug. "Bro!" Jay hugged him back. "Madison, you can leave with Charlotte." Kim ordered as the girls left the office. "I'm so glad you're here," he said. Jay sat on the seat in front of him while Kim stood beside him. "Did anything happen?" Jay asked. "Nothing really. I just need you to do something for me." Jay knew him too well to know he was about to ask him to do something crazy. "Which is?" "I need you to be my male model." He looked at Kim before bursting into laughter. Jay was twenty-three years old. He was born and brought up in Texas and before he came to New York to join the boyband, he was a model and that was why Kim chose him. "Are you crazy?" Jay asked. "Please, Jay." Kim pleaded, but Jay didn't listen to him. "Please?" He pouted. "I don't want to." Jay folded his arms and glared at Kim. "Really?" He asked staring at Jay in disbelief. "Yes," Jay answered bluntly. "I promise
Riele and Charlotte had finished what they needed to do and were heading to Kim's office when Jay approached Riele. He grabbed her hand and Riele had to stop. She turned to look at who dared to touch her without her permission and to her greatest surprise, she saw it was Jay.Charlotte was shocked. "Um... I'll be in the office while you join me later". Riele nodded. Charlotte went to the office leaving Riele with Jay. Immediately after she left, Jay left Riele's hand."Isn't there anything I can help you with?". Riele asked politely.Jay stared at her for a while before replying. "Yes... actually, I need your help".Riele didn't want to seem rude because he was cute and he's the model her boss volunteered. She folded her arms staring at him to state what he needs her to do for him."I am new to this whole modeling thing so I was wondering if you could tutor me". He lied.Riele couldn't believe her eyes neither could she believe her ears. She knows she is in charge of the models but tu
Jay led Riele into one of the coffee shops. He was so protective of her to the point that Riele started to think maybe they were on a date. "This isn't a date". Jay said before waving his hands to the waitress. Riele scoffed. "I never thought it was". She lied. "Really?" Jay asked staring at her in doubt. "'Cos it's written all over your face if you ask me". "Hello. It's nice to have you both here today. What would you like to have?". The waitress asked with a broad smile on her face. "I need something cold". Jay looked at the book menu. "What do you suggest?" "We'll like two ice americano please". Riele smiled at the waitress who nodded with a smile before leaving. "Why americano?" Jay asked. "You asked for something cold, well that has ice in it, that's why it's called ice americano, just the drink you need." Riele explained. The waitress brought their orders and set them on the table in front of them. "Is that all?" "We'll let you know if we need anything else". Jay answer
Charlotte was restless. She had been worried sick about Riele.A knock was heard on the door and Charlotte rushed to open the door. She pulled Riele in as she shut the door. "Start talking". She commanded with her arms folded across her chest."After the outburst in his office, Jay offered to take me somewhere so we could talk"."So you could talk?? About what?"Riele remembered that they didn't even talk about the modeling stuff anymore. "um... about... um...". Charlotte was glaring at her friend with folded arms waiting for the lies to just leave Riele's mouth. "...He asked me to tutor him about modeling".Charlotte looked at her friend trying to see if she was lying but Riele kept a straight face. So she believed her because she could tell when she was lying."Why didn't you pick up my call then?". She asked."I didn't know my phone rang. It was on silent". Riele explained."Do you know how worried I was? I thought something bad had happened to you or Maybe Jay kidnapped you and di
Jay went home feeling a bit worried about the whole thing. He wasn't sure if he was making the right choice or the wrong one. He was still busy with his thoughts when Kim appeared in front of him."What are you thinking about?." Kim asked."uh?".Kim folded his arms while looking at Jay. Ignoring him, Jay went to his room but Kim followed after him."Where have you been?"."Out". He replied bluntly."To where and with whom?". Jay was confused."Since when do you become so engrossed in my life; what I do and where I go?" Jay asked."You went out with Riele, didn't you?""Are you interrogating me right now?". He looked at Kim while waiting for an answer but he was silent. "Wow!". Jay said in surprise as he tried to walk out on him but Kim grabbed his hand and pulled him back.Jay smiled. "You know, I'm starting to wonder if peradventure you have a thing or two for this girl"."What are you saying?".Jay shrugged."She is my assistant"."Ex". Jay corrected."What?"."She is your Ex-Assis
Kim arrived at the company the following day but was surprised when his assistant, Charlotte didn't attend to him. He went to her desk and he saw Riele busy with her laptop. "Where is Charlotte?" He asked."She isn't feeling too well, so she decided to take the day off.""Why didn't she tell me that?""She did but you refused.""No, she told me she needs a day off and when I asked why she didn't reply.""I don't blame her if she didn't tell you.""Excuse me."Riele gave him a fake smile and said, "If there is anything you'd like me to help you with, don't hesitate to ask me."Kim ignored her and left. Riele didn't understand how she could hate someone in just a couple of weeks. She went back to her laptop when she noticed a figure staring at her. She looked up and saw it was Jay with his bunny smile standing in front of her. Riele couldn't help but smile back."Sorry I left quite early, it was urgent.""I know," Jay replied. He looked and was surprised to see Charlotte's seat was empt
The site was decorated with flowers and balloons, it looked like a wedding ceremony just that the couples weren't dressed in their wedding attires. They wore a touch of red and white dresses making it look like it was valentine's day. Riele couldn't deny that Jay and Madison looked good together. She didn't understand why Madison would be interested in getting Kim when Jay was right there in front of her. She figured that she was spending more time thinking than focusing so she cleared her head and focused more on the shoot. "The next pose, I want you guys to look at each other and pretend like you want to kiss each other." The photographer directed. Jay glanced a little at Riele and when she caught sight of him, she wondered why he was glancing at her. "Jay, I need you to concentrate, look at your partner and try to kiss her." It's just a pretending kiss, it's not like you are even going to kiss her. Jay said to himself as he did the pose and when the photographer took the picture
The doctor came in to tell him that she suffered a minor concussion and that she was fine and could be released tomorrow. "Can I see her now?""Yes, you can." The doctor showed him to the room she is in.""Thank you." He thanked the doctor."Are you a member of diamond boys?" The doctor asked. "My daughter is a fan. Your autograph will make her so happy."kim smiled and signed his autograph on the daughter's book. "Thank you so much." He bowed his head and looked at Riele. "I must say your girlfriend is beautiful and she is quite a fighter.""She's not..." he was about to argue but when he turned the doctor was gone. He sat down next to her and studied her features. She was beautiful and he couldn't deny it. Just string at her sleeping made his heart beat and when his eyes looked at her pale pink lips, he closed his eyes trying to ignore to desire to kiss them and make them return to their original color. He moved closer to her and removed a strand of hair that was covering her eyes.
Jay sat by the window of his hotel suite, watching the lights blink across the skyline. He had been waiting all day to hear from Kim. He knew the wedding was supposed to happen, and by now, it should’ve been over. He had expected pictures, at least a short call. But nothing came.He picked up his phone and tried again. After a few rings, Kim finally answered. His voice was low, almost tired.“Hey,” Kim said.“Man,” Jay replied, standing up and pacing. “I’ve been calling. What’s going on? How did it go?”There was silence.Jay paused. “Kim?”Kim let out a long breath. “It didn’t happen.”“What?” Jay stopped pacing. “What do you mean?”Kim’s voice cracked a little. “She didn’t marry me. The wedding got interrupted.”Jay sat down again, slowly. “By who?”“Jane.”Jay blinked. “Jane? Why? What did she do?”“She stood up in front of everyone. Said she’s pregnant... and that the baby is mine.”Jay’s jaw dropped. “She said that at the altar?”Kim’s voice was hollow. “Just as the priest was ab
The moment Charlotte dragged Riele out of the chaos and into the quiet room beside the hall, her friend’s legs gave out beneath her.“Riele!” Charlotte gasped, just barely catching her before she collapsed completely.Riele's skin had turned pale. Her lips quivered. She clutched at her chest, breath coming out in short, broken gasps.“I… I can’t breathe,” she whispered.Charlotte guided her toward the edge of the couch. “Sit. Just sit for a second. Deep breaths, okay? Riele, look at me. Stay with me.”But Riele never made it to the couch. Her eyes rolled back, her knees buckled again, and she crumpled like a doll in Charlotte’s arms.“No, no, no. Stay with me!” Charlotte cried, lowering her to the carpet, her voice shaking as she screamed out toward the hallway. “Somebody call an ambulance! Now!”The minutes that followed were a blur. Voices shouted, footsteps ran, someone brought water that Charlotte never used. Her focus stayed fixed on Riele’s still form, on the way her chest rose
The church was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and the hum of quiet anticipation. Soft music floated through the air as guests took their seats, dressed in their best, smiles lighting their faces. The atmosphere was warm, joyful, and full of love. Every detail from the simple white roses lining the aisle to the soft glow of the chandelier seemed to echo the happiness that had brought everyone together.Riele stood just beyond the large wooden doors of the church, her arm looped through Harry’s. She wore a gown that shimmered under the morning light, delicate lace hugging her frame. Her veil was light and soft, like a breath of air. She held a small bouquet of peonies, her hands trembling slightly, more from excitement than nerves.“You look like Mom,” Harry said quietly, glancing down at her with a proud smile.Riele blinked back sudden tears. “Thank you.”The music shifted. The doors opened. Everyone stood.Riele walked slowly down the aisle, eyes fixed on Kim. He stood at the
Riele stepped into the bridal boutique, her fingers curling slightly around the strap of her purse. The shop was warm and elegant, filled with rows of ivory and pearl-colored gowns. Charlotte walked beside her, carrying Hope in a soft sling across her chest. The little girl was already looking around with wide eyes.Riele let out a quiet breath as she looked around.“So many dresses,” she said, more to herself than anyone else.Charlotte grinned. “You’re about to be a bride, Rie. Don’t rush. Try them all if you want.”Riele smiled back, but her eyes were already moving across the room. There were sleek gowns, flowing lace ones, some glittering softly under the lights. The shop assistant came over with a friendly face, introduced herself as Sera, and offered to help.Riele gave a nod. “I want something simple but beautiful. Nothing too heavy. Something I can dance in.”“Got it,” Sera said, already moving to a rack.Charlotte rocked Hope gently and looked at Riele. “Are you nervous?”Ri
Riele stood by the kitchen sink, staring blankly out the window at the swaying trees in the garden. She had replayed the scene with Jane more times than she cared to admit—her eyes, her voice, that almost mocking smile when she asked Riele to call off the wedding. There had been no clear reason, no explanation, just a demand wrapped in veiled hostility. It left a sour taste in Riele's mouth and a heaviness in her chest that wouldn’t go away. She wiped her hands and picked up her phone. Her thumb hovered over Charlotte’s name for a moment. She had already told Kim about Jane’s visit, but he had only looked confused and a bit concerned. Riele hadn’t told him everything—not the exact words Jane had used, not how her presence had chilled the room. She needed someone who could help her think clearly, someone who wouldn’t immediately rush into protective action. She needed Charlotte.Without overthinking it, Riele grabbed her keys, slipped into a light cardigan, and headed out the door. The
The soft scent of freshly brewed tea wafted through Riele’s living room, mingling with the distant hum of a playlist Charlotte had picked—gentle acoustic love songs that filled the silence between conversations. The coffee table was buried beneath magazines, color swatches, and a notepad scribbled with names and ideas. Riele sat cross-legged on the couch, flipping through a bridal catalogue, while Charlotte and Kim debated the merits of an outdoor ceremony versus an indoor one. Utter leaned back in the armchair, half-involved, half amused, nursing a glass of juice like he’d been roped into something way beyond his understanding. Hope was sleeping soundly beside them. “It has to be outside,” Charlotte said, pointing to a photo of a vineyard-style wedding with twinkling fairy lights. “You and Kim under a canopy of stars? That’s poetry.”“It rains in spring,” Kim said, folding his arms. “A surprise downpour isn’t romantic. It’s soggy.”“That’s why tents exist,” Charlotte shot back.Riel
The breeze was gentle that afternoon, rustling the bare branches as though whispering secrets only the trees could understand. Riele stepped carefully between the headstones, her fingers interlocked with Harry's as they made their way toward the familiar spot. It had been three months—three quiet, aching months since they last stood here together. Time had softened the sharpness of their grief, but the ache still lived somewhere inside them, persistent and tender.Their mother’s grave was just as they remembered. A simple marble headstone with her name etched in gold: Esmeralda Grants, Beloved Mother, Eternal Light. Harry bent to brush away the leaves that had gathered at its base while Riele knelt, her hand smoothing over the cold stone."Hey, Mom," Riele whispered. Her voice was steady, but her chest quivered with the familiar ache. "We came to visit you. It's been a while, I know."Harry crouched beside her, setting down the small bouquet of wildflowers he’d picked up on the way. H
Charlotte was pacing the length of her living room, her newborn daughter nestled against her chest in a soft carrier. Utter was lounging on the sofa, half-watching her, half-focused on the bottle he was warming for Hope. Harry sat on the floor, his back against the couch, absentmindedly shaking a rattle and making faces at his niece who, despite her tiny size, already had a gaze sharp enough to quiet a room. The door creaked open and Riele stepped inside, cheeks pink from the cold outside and something else—something warmer.“I have news,” she said, pulling off her scarf and hanging it carefully by the door. “Big news.”Charlotte turned immediately. “What kind of news? Don’t tell me you’re leaving town again.”“Not that kind of news,” Riele said with a soft laugh, her voice unsteady with anticipation. She moved toward them slowly, like someone holding a secret she’d been dying to share but afraid to say out loud.Harry raised an eyebrow. “You’re not pregnant, are you?”“No,” she said
The city had started to exhale, shedding the day’s rush and noise as dusk wrapped the skyline in softer hues. Golden light trickled between tall buildings, casting long shadows on the cobbled streets of the old district where quaint cafés and tiny bookstores nestled like forgotten treasures.Kim adjusted the cuffs of his shirt for the third time, standing outside the restaurant he’d chosen with care. It wasn’t overly fancy or glamorous—nothing that screamed wealth or extravagance. Just a warm, quiet place that smelled faintly of cedar and rosemary, the kind of place where memories could be made.He had never felt more nervous.Inside, Riele sat at their table already, the evening sun gilding the edges of her hair, making her look almost ethereal. She’d worn a simple dress, pale blue with tiny pearl buttons down the front. When she looked up and smiled at him, the tightness in Kim’s chest loosened just a little.“You’re late,” she teased, sipping water.“I was making sure everything was
