“What have I done?” I just stood there like a statue, not moving. Looked at my hands, which I could not believe would hurt my mate. Yes, you read right, I said, my mate. I did not want a mate, but now that I lost her, I know that I need her, Hailey. I need my mate, not just for Cayden but for myself. The way she smiled, everything about her was perfect and I was too much a bumbass to recognize it, as I was stuck on the ‘no mate’ thing. Now she’s gone and it feels as if my world has ended. I need to get her back. “You said that Serafino took her, right?” I looked at Bruce as he stood looking at the mess I had just made with my office. “Yes, he did. But then, when he took her to his home, he too, hurt her, so badly. She wasn’t even able to walk, so Rebecca took her to her apartment. She has been looking after her while we were looking for answers as to why this happened to you and Serafino and who could have done this, but the biggest question is why” he says as he starts to put some
An hour later, the three were at the airport where Serafino’s private jet was waiting for them. There was a tension between Serafino and Brian that you could cut with a knife. As they boarded the plane, they bumped into each other to get in first. Rebecca only stares at this shaking her head. They were like teenage boys wanting to get to the price first. Inside the plane, then it turned for the worst as Serafino sat down. He takes a photo out of his pocket of Hailey, where she was standing in front of a house smiling at the camera and just staring at it. Brian gets a look at it and then the fight begins. “Why did you take her to your house? You could have left her with Rebecca. You could have called me as soon as you knew she was gone. What’s wrong with you?” Brian was shouting at Serafino. “Ye well, what do you think? That I wanted to hurt her. She asked me to make her forget how YOU hurt her, and that was what I wanted to do, and would you have listened if I told you she had left.
Maybe she is in the bar, let’s check”. Rebecca starts walking to the door of the bar. They followed her in and, giving a quick look around, did not see Hailey. Seeing Cindy at the bar, Rebecca walks over to her, she would know if Hailey was there. “Hi, hope you can help me. We are looking for our friend and want to know if you may have seen her.” Rebecca handed Cindy another photo that Serafino had. Looking at the photo, as if thinking, Cindy hands it back to Rebecca and starts to clean the bar again. “Nope, I have not seen her,” Cindy says without looking at Rebecca. With that, James walks in and notices the three people talking to Cindy at the bar, but striking him was a bit of the photo. “Hi there are you guys looking for someone?” he says as he stares at Rebecca, who just makes a face and turns to him. “Ye, we are looking for our friend Hailey. Maybe you have seen her here or somewhere near here?” Taking the photo, James’ eyes went wide. He could smell that the three in fr
I put one foot down on the road and waited for a second, making sure that no one had heard me. Looking left and right, I decided that I would go left as the right was towards the main road and there I definitely did not want to be. I tiptoe through the ally making sure to check all the small allies and doors. As I neared an old rustic building, I heard a noise coming from the front. There was a big trash bin with something moving behind it. Was it them? Did they follow my scent? Or did they see me when I was in the allies? My mind goes a mile a minute. Standing thinking about what I would do if it were them. Bang, crash, tingling, My heart stops as a piece of trash falls onto the ground. That’s it. They have me, I am done. But the only thing that then appears is a black cat walking with a mouse in its mouth. I put a hand to my heart, hoping that it would keep it inside my chest. Catching my breath again, I started to walk again. Soon, I reach the end of the allies and only see
Brian’s POV “Tell us right now,” I said, walking forward toward this guy who, for some reason, did not want to tell us where Hailey was. “She is my mate and I need to find her now! I can feel her and she is nearby. So, tell me NOW!” By this stage, Cayden was going mad inside my head wanting to kill this guy, and was clawing at me to get out. The hair on my hands started to come out. Rebecca placed her hand on my shoulder, trying to calm me down. Then that dumb shit has the obesity to talk back, “You may be an Alpha, but that does nothing to me. You see me myself is one. I may not have a pack, but that does not mean that I have to be stepped over by an Alpha that just walks into my bar and demands to find a woman that is a human. I would have known if she was a creature and her name is not Hailey, but Hope. So, I think you have the wrong person. Will you please leave?” Standing there with his arms crossed, I only saw red. I really wanted to kill this guy but knew that that would n
Serafino’s POV “Tell us right now,” Brian said, walking forward toward this guy who, for some reason, did not want to tell us where Hailey was. I wondered for what reason he would want to keep her hidden. Did she ask him to or was there another reason? I could smell that he was an Alpha wolf, and I could not smell any other female on him, which meant that he was unmated. Did he want her? As Brian turned to leave, I turned to follow, but then something caught my eye. It was a jacket that she once wore at the pack house, but that didn't mean anything really, as there were probably thousands of them out there. It was the most common brand, but it made me think that they knew more than they told us. As we stepped out of the bar, a thought hid me. If we could get to my apartment, then I could phone Michael and hear what the story was about this wolf and if he knew anything about him. “I think we should get to my apartment and take a shower and have some lunch,” I said as we stepped onto
Cindy’s POV Cleaning the bar, I saw them walking in, shit they found her. But when they asked if she was here, handing me the photo, I knew the cloaking spell worked. But for some reason, Brian’s wolf could still feel hers. After the screaming between him and James and they left, I quickly went to check on Hailey, ensuring she did not know they were there. Would she go with them if she knew? Entering the apartment, it was dead quiet. Going to her room, I saw some of her clothes were gone. I lost her and now, due to my own cloaking spell, I can not locate her. “You need to find Hailey, she is gone. Find her and find her now” I was telling my people through our link as I knew they were all around the city. “I saw her going towards the woods” one links me back. “Get everything ready, I am going to get her.” With this, I transport into my witch-like state and start to swift through the woods. Near the waterfall, I got a glimpse of her. I have you now. As I reached her, I could not co
Serafino’s POV After I had a talk with Michael and rested, I went and got some blood from the fridge. It was deer blood and it was nice and chilling. Standing and sipping it, Rebecca enters the kitchen. “Hi, I love what you did to the place, but my favorite is this fridge. It is awesome,” she says as she takes out one of the human blood bags. I had a contact at the local blood bank and they gave me the blood that, for some reason, could not be used. I was not the kind that liked to milk humans just to get my fix. With this, Brian also arrives and just looks at us with a disgusted look in his eyes. “What, you eat raw meat in wolf form, don’t you?” Rebecca says and turns to leave. Those two, she does not like him much. I think it is because he treated Hailey not like a mate should and Rebecca was very emotional about mates or fated lovers. “I have talked to Michael. He had some very interesting news regarding that guy at the bar, James. He called him” Both Rebecca and Brian go sit
