The car drove at high speed through the city streets that never died. There were many vehicles passing by. The scent of Leonardo's body still lingered on the car seat where he used to sit. Caterina sighed roughly, inhaling the scent deeply. Every time she smelled Leonardo's body scent, she felt calm and peaceful. There was a strange feeling that crept into her heart every time she inhaled the scent.
No matter how hard she tried to lie about her feelings, she could not cover up the fact that her love for Leonardo was still as great as ever.
Caterina shifted; she tried to find the most comfortable position to sit. Until an object stuck in her footstool made her bend down to check it.
“This is ....” Caterina picked up the object with an inexplicable feeling. The look on her face changed; instantly her memory was thrown to a few years ago.
It was Leonardo's 17th birthday. Caterina was so excited and enthusiastic. She prepared a surprise party, decorated the room, prepared a birthday cake, and prepared dishes to eat with the other members of La Vendetta. She even spent her savings on couple necklaces. One for Leonardo and one for her.
However, Leonardo did not appreciate her efforts at all. Instead of being grateful and happy for the surprise party Caterina had prepared, he went on a rampage. The birthday cake that Caterina had lovingly prepared he threw away heartlessly. He destroyed the balloons and decorations. The gift that Caterina had given him he threw away in annoyance.
“Can't you stop bothering me?! How many times have I told you, Stop disturbing my life!” That was the sentence Leonardo always gave her whenever she tried to please him.
Caterina clutched the necklace with the half heart pendant. She held it tightly.
“It's not mine.” Caterina muttered. She remembered very well when she gave the right heart to Leonardo, while the pendant with the left heart she kept for her.
Leonardo never received his gift necklace, so she felt sad and was always reminded of Leonardo's rude attitude whenever she wore the couple's necklace. So she never wore it again.
“This is Leonardo's.” Caterina said with confidence. The necklace had been specially ordered with the design and name tucked into the pendant. She checked the pendant carefully, and sure enough it had Leonardo's name on it.
“Did he come back to pick up the gift I gave him after he kicked me out last time?” Caterina wondered. Her brow furrowed. Leonardo was so unpredictable.
“Eight years have passed, and he still has this? Or is this just a coincidence?” Caterina spoke to herself.
The necklace still looked as beautiful as new. It seemed that Leonardo took very good care and custody of it.
“Alex, do you know about this necklace?” Caterina handed the necklace to Alex, who was driving.
Alex had only joined La Vendetta about four years ago. He was recruited directly by Leonardo. Unlike Caterina and Leonardo, who grew up in La Vendetta. Alex definitely did not know about the events of Leonardo's birthday party 8 years ago.
“Oh, this I know. Lately Mr. Bianchi has been wearing this necklace wherever he goes.”
“Since when? Why wouldn't I know?” Caterina was getting curious.
“I guess since you left La Vendetta. If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Bianchi took the necklace off when we picked you up at the hospital that time. I think it fell out of Mr. Bianchi's pocket in this car.”
Caterina was quite surprised when she heard Alex's answer. Why was Leonardo acting like this? Was he playing with Caterina's feelings? It had obviously been thrown away by Leonardo 8 years ago; why was it still there? She herself didn't know where her necklace was.
“I'll give it to Mr. Bianchi after he returns to the base.” Alex made a decision.
“No.” Caterina commented quickly. “Give it to me; let me give it back to Leo.”
Alex felt that it was no big deal, so he complied with what Caterina said.
After a long journey, they finally arrived at their destination. Caterina got out of the car and entered the luxurious mansion that was La Vendetta's headquarters. The mansion was quiet, as it was almost dawn. The residents of the headquarters were fast asleep. There were only a few people who remained awake, having to stand guard at several points of the mansion.
“Is my father still alive?” Caterina looked at Alex with a questioning look. Because what she knew was that her father had taken his place to serve her death sentence at the hands of Leonardo.
Alex frowned. “He's fine. It hasn't even been a week since you guys met; why are you asking that?”
Caterina's eyes lit up immediately after hearing Alex's answer. She felt happy because her father was fine. She didn't respond to Alex's question; she quickly ran through the spacious corridor to her father's room. She knocked on the door repeatedly because she couldn't wait to see her father.
Their relationship has never been that close. However, since her father helped her to escape from La Vendetta and was willing to sacrifice his life for her safety, Caterina felt that the father-daughter relationship between them needed to be repaired. She wanted to spend more time with her father, as a daughter and father should. Not like before, as if they were seniors and juniors in the medical world.
“Dad!” Caterina immediately hugged her father when Dante opened the door to the room.
Dante looked confused, his forehead wrinkled as he tried to digest what was happening. He was still a little dazed from just waking up.
“Thank goodness you're okay. I thought Leo had really finished you off.” Caterina cried, hugging her father.
“Kate! Why did you come back here?” Dante looked panicked as he realized what was happening.
Caterina broke the embrace, looking deeply into her father's face.
“Marco captured me and intended to use me as a tool to destroy Leo. Leo came to my rescue and asked me to go home. I don't know why he saved me, but I think it was because he didn't want Marco to get information about La Vendetta from me.” Caterina explained.
“At least you're safe. I'm glad to see you; I thought we'd never see each other again.” Dante felt very emotional; he hugged his daughter's body very tightly. He hugged as if he didn't want to let go.
It turned out that Leonardo's business this time was quite long, he only returned to headquarters three days later. He came home very tired, dirty and full of blood. Just by looking at that, Caterina could already guess what had happened. Leonardo was involved in another battle, but she didn't know who his enemy was this time. Fortunately the blood was not Leonardo's, it was just the enemy's blood splashing onto his body and clothes. He only had a small cut on his palm. It seemed that he parried a hand weapon attack with his hand. Some of Leonardo's men were badly injured. However, there were no casualties. Everyone returned safely.Caterina didn't know what to do. She was actually worried about Leonardo's condition, she wanted to run over and check on him to make sure he was okay. However, Caterina didn't want to take the wrong step. She was afraid Leonardo would get angry again. The woman could only stare from a distance.“Kate, please help me treat the others.” Dante gave the order
“Are you busy? I want to talk to you.” Caterina asked after she entered Leonardo's study. “Get used to knocking on the door before you enter.” Leonardo looked annoyed. He closed this month's financial report book, then took a deep breath. He looked up, looking at Caterina with deep eyes.Caterina's gaze turned to Leonardo's palm, which was wrapped in bandages. Leonardo seemed to understand; he hid his hands behind a pile of files on the table."Why are you looking for me?"Caterina was silent for a moment. She tried to gather her courage before asking, because she had to be ready to accept whatever answer Leonardo would give her."Is this yours?" Caterina held out a necklace, the necklace she found in Leonardo's car the other day.Leonardo looked very surprised when he saw the necklace in Caterina's hand, but he tried to act normal. He doesn't want to admit his feelings right now, because he is too proud. He was used to rejecting Caterina, being rude to her, even swearing that he wou
“Sir, your necklace has been found,” Ben said excitedly. He thrust the necklace in front of Leonardo. His face looked radiant because he was imagining what prize he would get. Leonardo was quite a generous boss; he never calculated money problems. It's just that he is quite cruel if his men make mistakes.Leonardo looked at the necklace with an incomprehensible look. There was no reaction whatsoever when Ben returned the necklace that he had been looking for for several days. He should have been happy that it was back in his hands. However, he felt lost. He didn't know what to do.“Call Alex here.” The man gave the order coldly.Ben looked confused. He was a little disappointed that Leonardo didn't say anything about the return of the necklace he was looking for. However, he couldn't protest; all he could do was do what Leonardo told him to do.The bald man moved out of Leonardo's study.Leonardo reached for the necklace. He gripped the pendant tightly with a strange feeling. What exa
“Get up and leave this room quickly if you want your daughter to live.” Leonardo said firmly; he looked very scary.“Please don't kill her, sir.”“Didn't you hear my order?!” Leonardo's tone of voice rose.Hearing Leonardo's growing anger, Dante feared that his temper would soon explode and take out his frustration on Caterina. He didn't know what the man would do to his daughter. However, if he continued to be there, Caterina's life would be in danger. So, he had no choice but to get up and leave the room.Dante closed the door tightly at Leonardo's command. However, he didn't want to leave the room, so he waited behind the door. He put his ear to door leaf, trying to eavesdrop on what was going on in there.“Didn't Alex tell you to come see me?” Leonardo stared at Caterina like a predator staring at prey.“He told me.” Caterina replied casually.“Then why didn't you come to see me?”“I already know what you want to say, so I didn't need to come to see you.” Caterina glanced in all d
Once satisfied, Leonardo left Caterina alone. He walked out of the room without saying a word. The expression on his face was unpredictable. No one knew what exactly was in Leonardo's heart and mind, apart from himself.Caterina could only cry with her weak body lying on the floor. Some parts of her body were bruised and swollen, a sign that Leonardo had done it very roughly. She felt extreme pain and soreness in her groin. In her heart now there was only anger and hatred. The man she had been in love with for a dozen years had done something so hurtful to her. Not even Marco had done that to him.“Kate!” Dante ran into the room after Leonardo disappeared from there. The man ran over. His world seemed to collapse when he saw his daughter lying on the floor without clothes. His heart sank when he saw his daughter's body covered in wounds, as well as love juices. Even Caterina's inner thighs were stained with the blood of her hymen.Dante hugged his daughter with a trembling body. He wa
Caterina finally fell asleep after Dante treated her wound. There was a bigger wound depicted on Caterina's face. It was not a physical wound, but a mental wound that would never heal.Dante looked longingly at his daughter's face. His eyes were red, his chest tight. What kind of father was he to bring his daughter into such great danger?“I'm sorry, Kate.” Dante said in a hoarse, trembling voice. He rubbed his daughter's bruised face. It was still puffy, as Caterina had been crying the entire time until she fell asleep from exhaustion.Dante wrapped his arms around Caterina's body, then lovingly kissed his daughter's forehead. He felt sick when he remembered the last time he had kissed his daughter's forehead. Their time together was too short because he was too busy with work. When he realized, his daughter had grown up without affection.“I promised you that I would be a good father to you. I won't break my promise this time.” Dante said with emphasis, as if he were talking to hims
Caterina woke up when it was already noon. The hot sunlight sneaking in through the gap in the curtains made her eyes a little dazzling. She stretched for a moment, then rubbed her eyes. She got up to sit up. When she got up, she felt her whole body ache and hurt. Now she regained consciousness and remembered what happened last night. Remembering it all, Caterina became hysterical. She was scared, sad, and extremely frustrated.“Aaaarght!” Caterina screamed at the top of her lungs. She pulled her hair very roughly, hoping that it would make all the bad memories in her head disappear. The door to the room opened after the scream was heard outside. It was not Dante who appeared from behind the door, but a maid. The woman brought food for Caterina.Caterina stared intently. She trusted no one now but her father. There was no one she could trust anymore after the man she loved so much had violently raped her.“Madam, I brought you some fish soup and tomato juice as well.” The woman approa
Three days after the incident, Caterina's physical condition had started to improve, but not her mental state. The bruises on her face also seemed to have faded. She had not seen or crossed paths with Leonardo since the incident. If Dante was fine, they would plan their escape right now. However, Dante's condition did not allow it. He had difficulty walking. If they ran away and were chased by Leonardo, they would be caught immediately. Dante didn't want to make things worse. It seems that Caterina's escape this time must be planned very carefully. If she ran away unprepared like before, she would be caught again. Not only caught by Leonardo but also by Marco.“You don't have to think about me, Kate. Just think about yourself; it's okay if you want to run away. That bastard can vent his anger on me. I just want you to be safe and start a new life.” Dante tried to convince. However, Caterina didn't want to. If she left, then her father would have to go too. There was no need for a sacr
The car Ben was driving stopped when they arrived at an apartment complex. Ben made sure that they were at the right address. After being sure it was the location they were looking for, the man turned the car towards the gate until it stopped in the parking lot.Leonardo got out as soon as the car stopped. He took a small jog towards the apartment building. His heart couldn't calm down; he didn't want to be late to find Caterina. Every second and minute was precious to him. The man's long legs ran up the stairs to the fifth floor. This was because he couldn't wait for the elevator. The man's footsteps echoed. Ben and his friend do not follow Leonardo's steps; they prefer to wait for the elevator. Because they believe taking the elevator will still arrive at the top floor faster than having to climb the stairs one by one.True to Ben's expectations, he and Leonardo met on the top floor when the elevator door he was riding in opened.“Room number 37.” Ben looked for the door with the ro
“Ouch!” Caterina groaned as Marco pushed her into a room very roughly. It seemed that he was still very upset with Caterina after what happened last week. He was upset that the plan he had put together so carefully turned out to be completely useless. He even almost lost his sister in the battle. It was a good thing that Leonardo didn't act recklessly and finish Rossie off.“Please unite me with my father. Whatever you want to do to me, but don't touch my father.” Caterina pleaded desperately. She was worried about her father. With Dante in his current state, he wouldn't even be able to protect himself.“You're only a prisoner; you have no right to give orders.” Marco said sharply.“I'm just begging, not giving orders. Please unite me with my father.” Caterina kept trying. She would not be at peace until she met her father. She only had her father in this world, so they had to take care of each other. However, Marco did not want to hear any requests. He locked the room rudely, then le
One punch landed directly on Alex's face when he was brought to see Leonardo. The corner of his lip instantly split and bled. He felt very painful on his face. Leonardo's power was great, so his punch had a big effect. Alex felt dizzy. He was dizzy; his vision seemed to be spinning. The disappointment on Leonardo's face was immense. He was so disappointed that the man he trusted had betrayed him. He had never felt this disappointed before. He always forgives Alex's every mistake, but not this time. Alex had made a very big mistake. Letting Caterina escape was the same as letting her face the great danger out there. He was very worried now that Caterina was no longer under his protection.“I'm very disappointed in you,” Leonardo said with indescribable feelings. His emotions were in turmoil right now.“I'm sorry, sir.” That was all Alex could say. He knew he was wrong, so he wasn't going to defend himself. Admitting mistakes is a sign that he has a big heart.Leonardo looked away; he d
“I'm sorry.” Leonardo said weakly. He had repeated the words dozens of times since then. His palms were cold; his heart was beating very fast. He was really nervous now; he had never been this nervous in his life. Even when he had to deal with enemies, he never felt nervous. However, he felt extremely nervous when he was about to meet Caterina.“I—I... love you.” Leonardo stammered. His voice was weak and trembling. The sentence sounded like a mumble; he could barely even hear the words he was saying.Leonardo squeezed his fingers repeatedly. He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. The man was impatient; he had waited there long enough.Leonardo's sigh sounded so heavy. He opened the desk drawer and took out a pack of cigarettes from there. He fiddled with the pack repeatedly, wondering whether he should smoke or not. He needed the cigarettes to calm his mind, but he was afraid because Caterina didn't like cigarette smoke. He didn't want to disappoint her by offering her someth
Dante looked confused when his daughter suddenly asked him to run away. He was unprepared, plus his leg was still recovering. He would be happy if his daughter could get out of that place safely. However, if he came with such a condition, it would only be a burden for her. He did not want to trouble his daughter.“It will be easier if you go alone. I'm fine being alone here.” Dante tried to be reassuring. He didn't want to make things difficult for his daughter. After what Caterina had been through, he didn't want to make her life more difficult.“No, I'm not leaving you here.” Caterina emphasized. She stepped towards her father's closet. She opened the drawer inside the cupboard, then put her father's pile of money, cards, and valuables into a backpack. She carried the bag on her back, then turned toward her father. He helped Dante to his feet and stepped out of the room.“The base is crowded right now because of the recent explosion. It'll be hard to get out of here without getting
There was an explosion from the direction of the firearms storage warehouse. The explosion was so loud that it knocked down several sides of the warehouse. Several officers ran towards the scene. Caterina was running in that direction when she heard the screams of a man moaning in death.“What happened?”“Is there an intruder?”“He's seriously injured! Let's rush him to the infirmary!”“Tighten the guard!” “Inform Mr. Bianchi about this matter!”“Looks like the enemy is coming for us!”All sorts of comments and questions could be heard exchanged. The atmosphere turned into complete chaos. Fortunately, only one person was injured in this incident. Caterina immediately performed first aid to stop the bleeding. The man had already lost consciousness when Caterina asked him to be rushed to the treatment room.Caterina immediately put in an IV. She did her job very well, doing what she was supposed to do as a doctor. Her doctor's spirit was so well ingrained that she always moved very qui
