The golden rays of dawn crept over the horizon, painting Hartland's coastal town in warm amber and rose hues.

Within the sun-dappled bedroom on the second floor of the grand house, Talia was busy employing her unique and boisterous method of rousing her cousin from slumber.

The energetic young woman bounced enthusiastically on Lavinia's bed.

"Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" Talia sang out, her hazel eyes sparkling with mischief as she continued her assault on Lavinia's peaceful rest.

Lavinia groaned, burrowing deeper into the silken sheets and fluffy pillows in a futile attempt to escape her cousin's exuberance.

"Talia, please," she mumbled. "It's far too early for this level of cheerfulness."

Talia redoubled her efforts, now adding dramatic arm gestures to her performance. "The early bird catches the worm, dear cousin! And we have a glorious day ahead of us!"
