"Interesting."
Erebus murmured, gazing into afar in deep thoughts.
"I think when Kitty was in danger, Phosis was summoned and with the help of Phosis's power, Kitty broke the spell that Lilith put on her." Winnie said.
"Which is why she could use magic now." Erebus looked at his hand.
"But she would lose control of her power a lot because she is not used to it yet," Winnie said, "Young witches are always like that, and they need their parent by their side to teach them."
I could be there for her and take her through this course. Erebus thought to himself.
"I can be there for her." Winnie said, "Emma would want that too."
"..." Erebus couldn't even find any reason to refuse.
He could not let others know he had magic; and he could not let Kitty know he actually was deep in love with her.
"I can see that you are sweet on her." Winnie suddenly said.
Erebus's sight was pulled back and fell on her with a shred of surprise.
"I've been on the face of thsi earth long enough to see, young one." Winnie waved her hand, "She's a big girl and she can take care of herself. I have no problem with that."
"Thanks..." Erebus said in a low voice.
"But I'd think she needs a elder witch by her side now." Winnie said.
Or a wizard. Erebus thought.
"Besides, you wanted to wait yourself, isn’t that right?" Winnie comforted him, "She will come around."
"It's not just about a teacher for her," Erebus shook his head, "Perses's men is still out there, and a mysterious witch looking for her."
"That's true--"
"Also, I'm not positive that Perses's would be locked in for too long either." Erebus continued, "I can't protect her if I'm not by her side."
"I understand. But how do you plan to make that shift?" Winnie said, "From a protector to a lover? Just over night? It's not about a line of her birthday, it's about who you are TO her."
Erebus fell in silence. That WAS another of his concern.
The longer he be in his elder, protective role, the harder he could make that shift. Even if she had a crash on him now, it could easily be an Electra Complex rather than a romantic attraction.
And now he JUST basically refused her! Who knows what it would take to get her around this one...
Kitty finally slowed down her steps. She stormed out of the office and got back and hid in her room, only to remember that it was also Erebus who gave her that room.
Damn!
That evil, evil man! It would have been better if he just treated her horribly! Why would her tease like that by giving her such care only to push her away?!
Angry thought burst out of Kitty as she stormed out of her room and the hotel again.
She needed to be somewhere else, somewhere where she could get that devil out of her mind and THINK!
She lost herself in this cat and mouse play, and now she lost the game, too.
She should never let him in her heart that easily, or ever! It was FINE when she was on her own. She was HAPPY! Well, not sad like this at least...
Kitty trotted on the street and finally realized she was nearly out of breath. She slowed down.
Where to now?
She looked, and realized she was almost reaching the bar. Why would her feet take her there?
She should have been avoiding him, and now, her feet were taking her where she spent the happiest time with him--
"Hey, beautiful."
Kitty wheeled on the voice rose behind her as she jumped backwards.
"Why are you here?" Kitty calmed down a bit, demanding.
"Just happened to see you--" Curtis grinned at her.
"Yes, sure." Kitty rolled her eyes and said with sarcasm, "I believe that."
"What? Are you sad that I didn't came for you?" Curtis grinned as if she saw through his lie of "him not here for her."
He actually wasn't.
"I know it was not you," Kitty crossed her arms in front of her chest, "If that's why you are here."
"It's okay, I know you trust me." Curtis gazed at her with sparkles in his eyes.
"Thanks." Kitty put her arms down at that friendly gesture.
"Glad to help." Curtis waved his hand as if he didn't just rain his rage on Erebus for "getting his help", "Why are you out here though?"
"Nothing." Kitty turned her head to avoid his eyes that were fixed on her. There was still traces of tear on her face, and she didn’t want anyone to see that.
"Well," Clearly seeing that she just cried, Curtis gestured at the car pulled right beside them, "Would you like to have dinner? Maybe I can cheer you up."
"No, thanks." Kitty sighed, "I'm grateful though. I want some time alone--"
"Earlier today when I told you I'm the Prince," Curtis changed into a very serious tone, "I was trying to tell you that I KNOW, how it feels to find out that you have magic."
"I..." Kitty was genuinely surprised. She thought Curtis was only this spoiled prince who had no sense how people's feeling works.
"I'm here if you want to talk. You can consider me a senior, helping you with your homework." Curtis grinned, "It's not like you never called me teacher before."
Well, he DID teach Kitty bartender, a decision Erebus would long regret.
"That's so sweet of you." Kitty nodded, "I'm grateful."
"Would you like to talk about some basic stuff over dinner?" Curtis made a inviting gesture, but this time very appropriate.
"..." Kitty didn't want to refuse a polite, considerate Curtis. He HAD been a jerk so far, and today was very impressive of him.
Besides, she needed time to recover from a rejection, but spending some time with a thoughtful wizard who liked her might not be such a bad idea when she just found out she had power that she could not control.
She wanted to spend some time alone at the meadow, the place where she felt closest to Erebus...
"What do you think?" Winnie asked tentatively. Erebus had been silent for a while in deep thoughts.
"We can talk about it." Erebus finally said, "I need to--"
"My Lord." Tartarus came to Erebus cautiously, "Kitty left the hotel. Currently..."
He looked at Winnie.
"She's fine. Tell me." Erebus turned to him.
"We were following her since she left, but we lost her track when we encountered some spell I think." Tartarus bowed his head as he reported.
"Where?" Erebus said as he walked with Tartarus towards the door, "Meeting is delayed. Metis and Menoetius, come with me."
"Around Sunset Street." Tartarus stopped abruptly to avoid crushing into Erebus because Erebus suddenly halted his steps and wheeled on him.
"So, around the bar?" Erebus asked.
"Yes, that's correct." Tartarus nodded.
"I see..." Erebus mumbled to himself before he turned to the other two young wolves he just named, "It's okay, you can stay here. I'll handle this."
The three of them stared at each other in confusion, and stopped where they were as they watched Erebus disappearing at the end of the hall way.
He went to the meadow.
Kitty didn't know the city that well. There was limited reason why she would even go to that direction.
Erebus sped up his roadster towards the meadow, worrying about what he could say to her at this moment.
It wasn't like he didn't know what the problem was: he refused her. How could he make her feel better on that without telling her his true feelings for her?
He won't let anyone else be her mentor.
He gripped the wheel as he thought to himself, not Winnie, not no one.
She belongs to him!
He finished the last few steps in a huge jump and got to the top of the cliff. The sun was nearly below the sea with only an edge of its red head, a lot alike Kitty's scarlet ear tips whenever he teased her...
But she was not there.
Erebus was genuinely surprised when he didn't found Kitty there."Metis." He pulled out his phone, "Any trace of Kitty?""Not yet. She's not returning either." Metis's calm voice came through, "Where do you want us?""Is Menoetius with you?" Erebus asked."Yes, he is here." Metis said, turning to look for Menoetius, who was talking with Themis at the moment."Put him on." Erebus stood where he was, waiting."Menoetius at your service," a hasty yet delighted voice rushed into Erebus's ear, "My Lord.""Good." Erebus said, his eyes gazing at the sea where the sun just bounced one last time before disappear under the dark blue sea level, "Where is Curtis?"..."He has disappeared, too!" As Menoetius finished the few last steps to the meadow, he was already shouting at Erebus, who was at that time, gazing at the sea in silence."How is that possible?" Menoetius, "I didn't know he had a witch with him!""You are aware that royalties sometimes have magic of themselves." Erebus said in an indi
"They are not here yet." Menoetius sat down across to Erebus at L'Appart as he said. He just came back from the reception."..." Erebus frowned at that result.Where could they be?Curtis certainly didn't book a seat at such a restaurant for himself. Erebus was now pretty sure Kitty was with him, but where could they be in all this time?!
For day after that night, Erebus didn't even get to catch Kitty. They bumped into each other exactly once, and it was because Erebus had been increasing HUGELY on his times of taking the elevator. And it seemed that Kitty even stopped taking the guest elevator."She's still a little girl." Metis poured Erebus a drink when he again, stood by the office window, gazing at the nebulous sky, "Of course it got harder for her to face you now. You DID reject her."
It was just a simple dinner at the bar of The Fort, well, "simple", as Curtis put it."How do you like your steak?" Curtis asked when Kitty put down her fork and took the red wine for a sip."It's good." Kitty shrugged with a simple answer. The steak was obviously not her focus of this dinner."Well maybe it's because The Fort's chief is not good enough. Let me take you to--" Curtis grinned.
"Kitty, I know you are mad at me--" Erebus sighed but Kitty cut him off."I'm not mad at you." Kitty said with a light tone."That's good," Erebus nodded, "Then you can ask him to go. I only say this because I worry that dating might be in YOUR way of the demonstration question you want to prove."Kitty burst into laughter. Her "demon
Erebus stayed there for a little longer, mostly just listening to Kitty talking about all the fun she had been having this past week.It was only after he left with a good night kiss on her forehead that Kitty was able to get around and get properly excited at his "I'll be waiting".Kitty had been feeling that Erebus cared about her more than usual from day one. She took that as pity and was grateful for it.But not anymore.
Should she call him? She's got the phone. The phone that he got her, with his number in it.Or maybe she should just text."Are you going to Mount Alaric?"Should she ask like that? She deleted the tex
"Metis, keep an eye on Kitty for me." Erebus called Metis on his way back to the office."Yes, my Lord." Metis answered, "Something happened?""Long story... also, keep an eye on the princess." Erebus sighed."Which one?" Metis asked, "The Princess came here?""The most annoying one." Erebus said darkly.
"What do you think you are doing?!" The Queen snapped at the wolf who flung himself at her: "Get off me you stupid dog!" "Kitty!" Didn't know where he found the strength, but Erebus managed to stand up, catching Kitty in midair and fell on the ground again -- At least she fell on him. "Ouch!" Kitty curled in his arms with her eyes closed shut. She was so sure that she would die -- being hit by the spell of the Queen. "What the --?!" The Queen waved her wand and the wolf over her flew backwards with a whine. Kitty was alright. There was no blood hole on her body, and she seemed all fine except a bit shocked from what happened a second ago. "Are you alright?!" Allura's voice came, and Kitty couldn't even respond to that. Erebus coughed under her. "Erebus!" She finally snapped out of the shock and got off his body to prevent more pressure put on his wound. "Are y-you alright?!" He managed to
"Thanks for bringing them to me." The Queen smiled viciously at the three, and before anyone could even do anything, a beam of green light shoot out of the Queen's wand --"Kitty!"Kitty only heard that word coming from Erebus before he dashed himself between Kitty and the green light, and all she managed to do was to drive Phosis into motion by instinct. Two cracks rose.Phosis was hit first and cracked into two parts, flying in the air; and Erebus flew backwards when the second crack rose and Kitty froze right where she was at that.It finally happened.Phosis broke, and Erebus was lying on the ground, bleeding."Erebus!" Kitty threw herself over him, but no healing spell she knew was seeming to do the trick."He was an annoying little wolf, wasn't he?" When Kitty looked up to stare at the Queen, the Queen finally smirked at her --She had been watching as if it was a play."You evil witch!" Angry curse burst ou
"You, are in trouble."By the time that voice rose behind Kitty, there was already no time for her to get away from it while avoiding the light spear coming at her afront. She knew someone was coming from behind, but she was hoping that she could make it.Guess not.Dissolving the light spear, Kitty wheeled on the voice, all prepared to be attacked in all sorts of way but --She saw Erebus curved lips in front of her."!" Kitty rose her hand and lightening rose in her palms before it rushed towards him."It's me!" Erebus dodged in the last second, rising both his hands to show that he wasn't hostile."Impossible!" Kitty stared at him with suspicious eyes, "It's such a stupid lie --""Phosis IS powerful," Allura came near them, "But the ring is AS powerful. They are in balance, remember?"Kitty stared at Allura in disbelief."You expect me to think that you just got the ring that easily?!" Kitty took a step
Silence. Then she took a step back with a wry smile."When did you know?" "Allura" -- Theia -- asked."About the time when I saw you standing here." Erebus didn't even move a bit, looking at Theia with a light smirk.Theia hmphed: "You didn't know I was the mole for all those years."She stressed on the word "mole" as if insulting herself could somewhat reduce her guilt before she bit on her lips hard as she stared at Erebus."That's true." Erebus nodded slightly, "You don't make much move. But I guess it's the one time you move that matters.""And yet here you are, right where we want you to be." Theia sneered at him."I don't know about that, but I do have something to ask you." Erebus glanced at the dark forest behind her, "Do you really have no love for Tartarus?""Isn't it a little too innocent of you to ask such a stupid question?" Theia frowned but she turned to look away from Erebus. He signed."I'd
"You are here."It took a long time for Erebus and Kitty to finally find Allura on the party. It seemed as if ALL the werewolves in the country came to this huge event, and even a lot of strange faces that no one seemed to knew."What's the plan?" Staying by the side of the window, Kitty asked Allura as Erebus took a sip of his drink, as if they were just three normal guests, talking in a relaxed way."Like how we discussed." Allura said in a way of trying to not to move her lips, "She is going to give me the ring on the ceremony. But...""But?" Erebus asked."Nothing..." Allura mumbled with a frown, as if there was something bothering her."Does it have anything to do with the fact that the Queen doesn't have the ring on her hand right now?" Erebus said before he took another sip. His eyes were not even on the Queen."What?!" Kitty wheeled at the direction of the Queen to check, "How could she allow that to happen?! And how di
"Where are you taking me?!" Kitty finally stopped, panting as she dragging Erebus to a stop."You need to exercise a bit, baby." Erebus laughed as he stopped, noticing that she was really not catching her breath."You are a werewolf!" Kitty yelled even though in doing so it was even harder for her to smooth her breath."Haha!..." Erebus burst into laughter as he turned to look around --It wasn't as easy for him to tell the direction in a forest as in his wolf form. He had to pay attention if he didn't want to get lost."Why in such a rush anyway?" Kitty bent over to catch her breath, "You are acting really weird --""Come on!" Erebus took her hand and got on the way again laughing."I can't!" Kitty sat down on the floor with her hand in his, "You might as well just kill me now! Instead of such a horrible death! I would rather die than going any further --"Before she could finish her complaint, Erebus shifted right there in fr
"Why are you still going to the Alphas?" Kitty asked, sitting on the edge of the bed, watching Erebus dressing up in front of the mirror."We both don't want to control them with Phosis," Erebus said as he stretched his shirt, "But we still need them. It would be great if they would be willing to help us at their own judgement.""Can we trust that though? We'd be in even more of a danger if they betray us in the battle." Kitty said in a low voice, hesitating."I'm aware." Erebus nodded, "But like I said, there is nothing absolute in the world, not even loyalty from the most loyal. We have to take this leap of faith. Besides, they don't have too much motive to help the Queen either."Kitty pursed her lips without a reply."Besides," Erebus turned to her and knelt before her feet, "I didn't stop you from casting the spell on them WAS because I wanted to make sure that they won't be on her side if they were to make that choice.""You mean, if t
"Kitty?" Erebus held her by the wrist and shook her, looking for a response --Kitty froze right where she was with a horrified look on her face, seemingly too shocked by his words so she basically shut herself down..."Baby." Erebus pulled her in and kissed her on the forehead, "You are okay, please don't scare me like this.""I'm not scaring you." Kitty mumbled like a robot, replying with only instinct."Babyy..." Erebus sighed lightly and picked her up into his arms, carrying her to the bed, "Let's sit for a bit, okay?""I don't want to sit." Kitty stook by the side of the bed in a stiff motion, "You...you...""Yes, I already know." Erebus stroke her on the arm, trying to sooth her, "And it's okay, I understand --""It's not okay!" Kitty shook her head violently, and Erebus let out a light laugh:"Yet you did it anyway?""..." Kitty bit her lips, staring at Erebus with tearful eyes."The Queen has got basically
Waking up, Kitty flinched at the finding of herself being naked. She turned around in panic, and realizing that she was already back to their bedroom in the hotel with his arms around her.He was still in a sound sleep --Well, his eyes were still closed.Kitty had no idea whether he was awake or not --In fact, she had no idea about whatever his thought might be these days. She couldn't keep her secret from him any longer, and she knew he was just waiting for her to confess first. Otherwise, why would he took her on such a "date" all of a sudden? At that thought, Kitty slipped out from under the sheet, and Erebus didn't move in anyway even though she lifted his arm from her body. She needed a shower to cool her head, and she wouldn't want to see the love in his eyes extinguished while she was naked. It was a serious talk.Determined her mind, Kitty slipped in the bathroom quietly, and Erebus opened his eyes at th
