008 He Told Her About Mark

Erebus stood in front of Kitty's room and listened for a few seconds before he knocked on the door lightly, worried that he might scare her. The door flung open the next second, which took Erebus by surprise instead.

"Hi!" Kitty gave him a big smile, putting the key in her Jeans' pocket, "I'm ready!"

"Ohh!" Erebus blinked a few times to wake up from being stunned by her bright smile. He was a second away from grabbing her and biting on those delicious lips when--

"We are back! Steaks night!" Menoetius's shouts suddenly rose from behind him, which scared both of the people staring at each other by Kitty's door.

"What's...going...on...?" Menoetius's question broke up as hesitation took over his tongue when he realized something was wrong with Kitty and Erebus.

Metis rubbed her forehead with two fingers, feeling defeated by the stupidity Menoetius was so happily showing.

"..." Erebus turned to look at Menoetius with a resigned look on his face. He should be grateful that Menoetius saved him from sacring Kitty away with the crazy thoughts he was having in his mind, but somehow, he just felt frustrated at Menoetius’s interruption a lot.

"Did I do something wro--" Menoetius couldn't finish the word "wrong" before Metis dragged him away again, saying they would go and get dinner ready.

"What?!! WHYYYY-- " Those were the two words Menoetius managed to made out when being dragged away.

"You showered." Erebus finally came to his senses again and noticed her wet hair, "Sorry I didn't think of it. I should have found you some cloth so you could change."

"Just glad I've got hot water." Kitty made a face, not at all seemed to be bothered, "This is wayyy better than what I had a day ago!"

She didn't flinch or sadden when she mentioned the old life herself, as if her street life was nothing but a fun game. But all of a sudden, her bright smile seemed to have burnt Erebus because he felt pain seeing her putting up a strong face.

Before he loss control again, Erebus took a step back so she could close the door and follow him to the car.

"You know how to drive?" Erebus stopped putting in his safety belt when he noticed Kitty staring at the steering wheel.

"Hmm, only a bit. My mom taught me a bit."

"Not your father?" Erebus rose his brow as he stepped out of the driver's seat, "Do you wanna try?"

"Yeahhh, haha. My father cannot drive. He was a dork who can only write." She laughed as she jumped out of the car and ran to the driver's seat.

Laughing at the word "dork", Erebus settled in the co-pilot’s seat: "I see you have got spirit from your mom."

"And her eyes!" Kitty smiled, "She had the most beautiful eyes, and they were both happy that I didn't get my father's eyes, haha!"

"So what does your mom do?" Feeling safe to talk about her parents, Erebus cannot wait to know more about her life, the sad part, AND all the happiness.

"She was an artist!" Kitty replied with pride in her tone. "She draws the most beautiful scenes that pass before her eyes. I've always wanted to travel to all the places that she put on the canvas."

"Sounds like a cool plan." Erebus said, secretly putting "travel around the world" in his mental notebook named "Things to do with Kitty".

"So what do YOU like to draw?"

"I draw only things I made up in my mind." Kitty smiled at him, and hit hard on the gas.

Erebus was thrown backwards into his seat as the car fly onto the street. But his worry was gone soon after he saw that Kitty actually drives okay, and SLOW, except for the starting part, but soon, he regret his judgement--

"God!" Erebus exclaimed when the car took a very sudden stop in front of the supermarket.

"Sorry!" Kitty apologized with a naught face, "I cannot help it! It only feels right to hit hard when I stop. Don't you like the rush when the car makes a sudden and full stop?" Burst into laughter, they got off the car, ignoring the few shocked passers-by that witnessed the rough stop.

It took them two hours to get everything they needed -- well, Kitty needed. From toothbrush to beddings, her whole life was empty, waiting to be filled.

"These will be taken out from your paycheck." Erebus said with an "evil" smile when he noticed that she slowed down taking stuff and looked hesitating. And as he expected, she cheered up at his words and got back to picking between clothes and styles right away.

Seeing Kitty crashed open the bar's entrance with her shoulder because she was holding onto a huge bag full of cloth and stuff, Menoetius exclaimed in amazement: "I can NOT believe he let you-- Ohh."

Erebus followed Kitty into the empty bar, with both of his hands occupied with two sets of beddings and another two HUGE bags.

"And you are just gonna stand there?" Metis asked without even looking up, keeping her eyes on the magazine she was reading.

"Ohh! Let me help!" Menoetius jumped out from the bar.

"Thanks, but it's okay, I got it. You can go help him." Kitty avoided his hands and ran toward the stairs.

"Don't come up." Those were the few words Erebus left Menoetius before he too, avoided his hands and disappeared onto the stairs.

"What did I do wrong...?" Menoetius turned to Metis with a pitiful face. Metis looked up at him, sighed and shook her head before she dived back to the magazine again.

"The washing machine is right in the middle of the hallway. There was a pit designed for it." Erebus didn't know he could be so nagging before today.

"Thanks!" Kitty nodded and started to pile things up at the corner of the room.

"I can help you clean." Erebus offered. God knows he hires people to clean his room FOR him!

"I cannot ask that of you. I'll take care of them later. I'm hungryyyy." Kitty jumped in front of him with appealing eyes.

"Of course you are, haha." Erebus laughed at himself totally forgetting dinner. He takes care of his body, yes, but it was hard for him to keep every meal on time, too.

"You are in luck today; Metis cooks a mean steak! Don't tell Theia I said this though, she will freak out." Erebus made a face as they went downstairs for dinner.

"I have yet to put their names to faces..." Kitty sighed defeatedly. The past day was a LOT to her.

"Haha, of course. Theia is the cute girl who is always followed by Tartarus." Erebus thought about it for a while, and decided that was Theia's most obvious feature.

"They are THAT close?" Kitty DID notice that Tartarus always was around her, but she didn't think too much on that until now.

"He marked her right after she turned 18. She has yet to mark him, or anyone else of course, but they are in a relationship, trying it out." Erebus took the chance to see what Kitty's reaction would be to this kind of stuff.

"Marked?" Sure enouch, Kitty didn't know what "mark" is.

"Werewolves makes huge decisions relying on instinct more. Our senses are more advanced, comparing to most creatures, human included. So when our body makes a decision, we cannot really fight against it, and we don't really need to. And 'mark', is our body deciding who to be our life mate, once it's sure of its choice." Erebus explained when they made it to the kitchen.

"Wow! You told her?!" Menoetius exclaimed in disbelief. "I thought you-- Ahh!"

Metis forked him right on his hand to stop him from spilling out Erebus's secret, and the room suddenly fell into silence.

Everyone was staring at Kitty nervously.
