Chapter 2

Barry's POV

It was a usual day for me. I had nothing to do. This is common when you have lived for 100 years or just alive. So, I decided to take a tour of the city which is my usual habit at night. So, I started running enjoying the cold night wind on my face.

I am Barry. A hundred-year-old vampire with super speed, super eyesight, super hearing, and whatnot. Being a vampire gives you so many powers...superpowers.

I see a girl standing on the bridge looking down; maybe she is planning to jump. I can pass my time today by talking to her. I will help her if I can and if she doesn't want my help then she can do whatever she wants, who am I to stop her?

I went near her and stood a few steps away from her and looking at the waters below. I asked her, "Hey! What are you doing here? Thinking of jumping? Ending your precious life? "

I saw from the corner of my eyes that she has turned to face me and replied after some time, "Why do you want to know? Are you planning to jump too?"

This night is really going to be interesting. I turned to face her. When I saw her face, the shock was the only thing I can feel.

This can't be! She can't be alive! She died in front of me. My past took over me.

Flashback:

100 years ago:

"We have to run. There is no other choice" she said panting.

We have been running for an hour now. Me and Rosy, the love of my life.

Rosy is the daughter of the magistrate and me, just a guy working on her father's farm. I used to take care of her horse and we don't know when we fell in love with each other. We knew her father would never approve of us, so we were thinking of a way out for this but her father came to know about us and so we did the only thing we could think of, eloping.

We know we will be dead if caught, so we have to run far away from here.

"I think we should hide somewhere, it's going to be dark soon," I said panting.

"No, if we hide father and his men will find us. We have to run far away from here before sunrise" she replied.

I can see the fear in her eyes. I won't let anything happen to her, no matter what.

"Let's go," she said and held my hand and we started running again.

It's been two hours now. We both are tired and can't run anymore so, we decided to rest for a while. I was sitting with her head on my lap. I don't know when I fell asleep looking at her beautiful face.

I woke up to voices and looked around. We were surrounded by her father and his men. I looked at Rosy, she was terrified. I held her hand tightly.

"Rosy, just leave him and come home otherwise the end result won't be good. This is your last chance." her father said angrily.

"I can't leave him! I can't live without Barry, please father let us go." Rosy begged her father.

"Then you will have to die too." saying this, her father took the gun from one of his men and shot her. Fear took over me. Rosy fell and she was bleeding. Her father then shot me too. I fell beside Rosy.

"I love you, Barry. We will meet in our next life," she said.

"I love you too, Rosy. I am sorry I..." I was saying this when she took her last breath.

Her father took away her dead body with him. I was unable to do anything for her. I was unable to save her. Then I died or should I say escaped my death because I woke up. A couple saved me or should I say gave me a new life.

The first thing I felt after waking up was thirst. They gave me a bowl of blood. I drank it all. That's when I realized I am alive but dead.

I searched for Rosy and found her grave. She died. She died and I could not save her.

Present:

She was saying something to me. I have been lost in my thoughts. I replied to her previous question, "No, I'm not here to jump. I saw you so, came here to talk to you, to know why are you doing this?"

She seemed angry and shouted at me but all I saw was hurt and pain in her eyes. I asked her again, "Why are you doing this? You can tell me maybe I can help you out. "

This made her angrier. Maybe she doesn't want to tell me. But I have to know so I tried again, "I want to know, you look like someone I used to know. So I can't let you die without knowing the reason."

She shouted at me angrily, "I am not that someone you knew and I won't tell you anything so just leave!"

She is right she is not Rosy. Rosy died 100 years ago in front of me. I should just leave her alone. I said, "Yes, I think you are not her. She would never do such a thing no matter what. She was strong."

I left from there and started walking away but I kept thinking about her sad eyes and Rosy's last words kept ringing in my ears.. " we will meet in our next life".

What if she is Rosy... What if Rosy came back. I stopped and looked back. I have come far away from that bridge. I have to save her. Last time I was unable to save her but this time I won't let her die. I started running towards her. She jumped when I grabbed her and came to the center of the bridge.

She opened her eyes and looked at me shocked. She didn't say anything, so I asked her if she is alright but she kept staring at me still shocked.

Holding her I feel relieved. The love of my life is back.
