CHAPTER TWO

On one of those days, memories of her father kept coming, which led her into her father’s chambers.

“Oh, dad… I wish you were here, what do I do?” As she slowly walked around the room, she remembered a song her father usually sang with her. As it came to mind, she started singing with a bright smile repeatedly because it reminded her of her father. Something about the Lyrics hit differently, which caused her to pay more attention to it. She ran through the lyrics slowly and then realized the song wasn’t just an ordinary song but contained directions to a secret underground vault in the farmhouse. As she followed keenly, the lyrics led her to a notepad hidden in a safe. This notepad contained the way out of her dilemma. Details of assets, investments, and debtors her father left behind as he couldn’t trust anyone with it and hoped that one day, she could find it. She began to research the names on the list and gathered all the information she could get about each. She realized they were all very wealthy and influential people, and for her to embark on her quest against these influential people, she needed the support of someone who was like her and knew how to get things done but with power and even more influence required to execute her plans. At that time, she meets Levi Gomez, a man of few words with great authority, just what she was looking for. Her next target was to get this man to Partner with her, as he was already wealthy and well-connected. What could she offer him to get him to agree to work with her she thought to herself. Bethany tries her best to get Levi Gomez to partner with her, all to no avail. The man was uninterested, and not even her charm caught his attention. His silence and stoic personality made it worse, as it was difficult to guess his areas of interest. Not until she stumbles on some dark secret of the Gomez Family and uses it to her advantage, or so she thought. Levi Gomez decides to partner with her in her quest. However, he does that discretely, without anyone knowing he was connected to her in any way, for reasons best known to him.

Events begin to unfold as she begins to tick off each name from her long list. She has the backing of Levi Gomez, a retired gang leader, who took a step back from crime to have a normal life but maintains his contacts and influence. This influence made him a force in the corporate world. She trod under his influence. When she spoke, even the deaf ear heard. Her words were weighty and backed with action. One after another, she retrieved her father’s assets from each.

However, one name on the list could not be traced to anyone anywhere. All efforts to find who the person was and what connection he had with her dad led to a dead end. All she could get was a photograph of her dad with this man and their names on the back. This dangerous mission she embarked on put her life in danger a few times, but Levi was always there to rescue her. As a result, she began to trust him and wanted to know more about him, but no one seemed to know so much about this man, his background if he had any family, or even where he acquired so much influence as a young man. Was there more to him than just an influential man who could get anything by the snap of his fingers?

The young man discovered she was trying to dig into his affairs, this was bad for his plans, and he had to do something about it. She got news of Cater Group's auction by the bank to an anonymous buyer. She had no prior notice of the auction, which was strange. The occurrence diverted her attention from Levi’s life and affairs and gave her something else to worry about. She was determined to know who bought Carter Group and their motive. She asked for Levi’s help, and He was always there to help her. She traced the buyer to a Hawaiian businessman looking for opportunities to expand his business to the United States. Has she lost Carter Group and Is there a chance she could regain it?
