Chapter five

I must have fallen asleep while I was crying, I really needed the rest though, my face felt weird so I decided to check the mirror, my eyes were swollen, red and I had bags, my cheeks were also red and puffy, it was due to my excessive crying.

I don't think I'll last long in this house, I should start saving so I can get my own apartment but first I need a job. The ringtone of my phone interrupted my thoughts.

I removed my phone from my pocket, it was melody calling, I answered the call and placed it on my ear.

"Hello." My voice was broken and hoarse I had to clear my throat a few times so I could sound a bit normal.

"Hey its melody." She screamed into the phone.

"Yeah I know, I saved your number remember?"

"Oh yeah, what's up? Did you ask them yet?"

"No not yet, I slept off."

"Oh, okay do ask them on time, it starts by 5:00 pm but we can go there around 6:00 pm by the time we arrive there it'll be in full swing." She informed, I'm sure mom will not allow me to go but still I'll ask but not directly though.

"Okay," I looked at my phone to see what the time was "this is almost 5:00 pm."

"Yeah, I tried calling you earlier but you didn't pick up, didn't you see my missed calls?"

"Sorry about that, I'll ask them now and call you back."

"Alright then, I'll be waiting for your call, it's going to be so much fun."

"Yeah." She hung up after that.

I connected my phone to the charger and switched on the socket so my phone will charge, I've got quite a low battery.

I mentally prepared myself for what was going to happen next, what will I say to her? How will I approach her about it? I unlocked the door and exited my bedroom shutting the door behind me.

I went to the living room to meet mom but she wasn't there so I went to her room. I knocked on the door and waited for her to reply.

"Who's it?"

"Its me Alexia."

"What do you want?" She snapped! I could hear the anger in her voice.

"Can I come in?" My voice was quiet and soft while hers on the other hand was loud and harsh.

"What do you want to say that you can't say from out there?"

"Well I heard there is a fun fair going on at the outskirt of town so I was wondering if you are going to go." I crossed my fingers and hoped she said yes.

"And why is that any of your business? I'm sure you want me out of the house so you can invite your unfortunate friends."

"No no, you're getting me wrong," I was about to say I wanted to tag along but I knew the consequences of that so I bit my tongue "I just thought you were going to go that's why....never mind, sorry I asked." I waited for her to reply but she didn't so I went back to my room.

I really wanted to go, I should call Melody and tell her I won't make it, I removed my phone from the charger and my Tommy rumbled, I've not had anything else to est other than the pancake and juice I ate for breakfast today and I doubt there is any food for me to eat, I would have gone and made something to eat but I'll become dinner if I dared tried that but I'm starving.

I dialed Melody's number and placed my phone on my ear, it rang the first time and she picked on the second ring.

"Hey, so did you ask them?" She went straight to the point.

"Yeah and I'm also starving." I moaned holding my stomach and rubbing it.

"Oh no worries there is food there, we can buy burgers, fries and some coke when we get there and there are snacks and lots of junk foods there and the bill is on me so it's no problem."

"Burgers, coke, junk food all in one sentence..." hmmmm I can't remember the last time I had burgers, I need food in my life, food fixes everything so no doubt it'll fix my messed up life.

My mouth is watering just thinking about food "Alexia are you there?"

"Yes yes."

"So did your parents say yes?" What do I say? Uhm..I can't say no to food, it's not like I have the luxury here.

Even if I say yes sneaking out is a risk I can't take, if I get caught I'll be dead meat and placed under house arrest but food and fun....

"Hello? Alexia."

"Sorry the network is messed up."

"So did they say yes?"

"Of course they said yes." I laughed nervously into the phone.

"That's great, I'll send you the location pin and I'll meet you there, don't be late."

"Yeah, I won't, I can't wait, it'll be so much fun." I said enthusiastically. I could hear her screaming.

"Yes!!!! Let me start getting dressed."

"Alright, same here, later."

"Kisses." With that she hung up.

What have I gotten myself into? Okay...deep breathes I'll choose an outfit to wear and I'll make my bed look like I'm sleeping on it.

I rummaged through my wardrobe and found a blue ripped jeans and white crop top, I finished off my look with some make up and nike canvas.

I laid my bed and arranged the pillows vertically in the middle of the bed and and covered them with the blanket so it'll look like I'm the one underneath and turn off the light, now for my escape plan.

I grabbed my phone, purse and some of my savings, I know she said the bill is on her but just to be safe, I stuffed it in my purse and climbed my window.

I refuse to remain unhappy, I refuse to wallow in self pity, I refuse to be heartbroken and suffer in pain. I told myself and I climbed down from the window. As soon as my feet touched the ground I jogged out of the compound and quickly called a cab.

"Where to?" The cab driver asked.

"The fair going on at the outskirts of town."

"Hop in." I quickly entered and we were off. I took in a deep breathe, in and out. I called Melody to inform her that I was on my way, she was on her way too. Her house is closer so she will probably get there before me.

I can't wait to have fun, it's been ages. I can't even remember what being there looks like or feels like.

I got to the fair soon after, it was evident that an event was happening here, the place was well lit and there was loud noise coming from there.

"How much?" I got out of the car and asked the driver.

"That's a hundred." The place is very far so I guess it's worth it, I paid him without question and he drove off. I retracted my phone from my purse and called Melody, now that I'm here I'm going to have as much fun as I could ever have.
