Ethan savored the quiet moments with Sasha, her head resting on his shoulder, their bodies comfortably close on the couch. He marveled at how natural this felt—how, in just a few days, she had become someone he couldn't imagine his life without. The connection between them was undeniable, and it unsettled him just how much he had come to care for her in such a short time.

Her soft and hesitant voice broke through his thoughts, drawing his attention back to her. "How was it for you when your mother died? It's so hard for me as an adult to handle my mom's loss; I wonder how it was for you as a child."

Ethan was taken aback by the question. He wasn't used to people asking him about his past, let alone about his mother. It was a subject he rarely talked about, something he had buried deep inside.
