Chapter Fifty-Five

Sasha sat quietly beside Chris’s hospital bed, her heart heavy as she looked at his unconscious form. She held his hand gently, her fingers tracing the back of his hand like they used to when they were kids.

“I can’t wait for you to wake up,” she whispered, her voice barely audible in the silent room. “You wouldn’t believe the mess I’ve gotten myself into. I’m... I’m in love with the devil.” She let out a soft, humorless laugh. “Not literally, but it feels that way.”

Sasha sighed, guilt washing over her as she thought about how long it had been since she visited him. “I’m sorry, Chris. I should’ve come more often. Things have just been... complicated. You know how it is. With Hue, the inheritance, Amanda—it’s all a mess.”

Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at the door. She turned to see Jack walking in, his expression a mix of concern and frustration.
