Chapter Ten [ The goal is tested]

“The topic of the Hacienda farms, which had been long invaded by an unjust and incompetent administrator of my father, may not go over well with the audience,” Nancy reasoned as she already desired to disappear. She is not yet well suited to meet them in that manner since it would come across as a joke.

"What will I do next? Lord, please help me. I needed You now.” Nancy prays as she hides beneath the gloomy palm tree branches. Jason doesn't switch on his flashlight and keeps looking for her. He ought to conduct his investigation so Nancy is informed.

Jason is thinking to himself as he searches for Nancy's hiding place, "I should know what Nancy discovered. They probably giving her twisted stories. I know that man and his two maiden companions. I saw them once somewhere. But I must recall where exactly is it."

Jason is quite familiar with that circumstance and the locations where each tree is planted and flourishing.

"I know each owner of the small houses and each member of the family. But the two maidens are behaving very strangely before the crowd. The way they dress and act seems unnatural and they have twisted values and beliefs. How come that man came here when we are about to investigate? Who sent him here this peak hour? Tomorrow is December 30th and my birthday. I should be celebrating my special day with my beloved who is a gift from heaven."

Jason continues, keeping a close watch out for his only love. "I've been missing you, tough guy, every minute, but I've not seen you with my own eyes now," he says.

He is about five meters away from where the young group is assembled with the chairman and his visitors when he suddenly touches something extremely soft with the soles of his combat shoes. As he checks what he has touched, He hears a squeak that sounds like she is in pain.

”Oh my God,” Jason remembers his beloved hiding in bunches of shrubs around the community of the mountain people. As he calls her,

“Are you there, my sweetheart?” Jason asks in a quiet voice, trying not to be heard. No one responds, but there is a distant chirr sound. Jason gently adjusts the flash's light to where the weeds are coming from, and he discovers the feet of a person who is slowly drawing away as though he is being caught in a trap.

Jason begged his wife, "Honey, come out now. I know that it is you. No one else is hiding but you," as tears began to trickle from his eyes.

Jason further begged the owner of the white silky feet of a lady, "Look at me, I can't bear to lose you, You know how much I love you. Come on now."

He threatened her as the owner of the stunning feet that were slowly moving with her body, he is saying, "If you don't get out of there, I'll rip out your two feet from there."

The speaker shouted angrily, "Why do you still hunt me? You simply enjoy yourself conversing with that sexy maiden."

Jason further shows her damaging disadvantages and possibilities, saying, "You see. You are in a problem now. You might get sick by hiding there. A snake might spot you and pull you somewhere without no one noticing you."

After convincing Nancy that she must leave, Jason pushes the thorny weeds aside to make room for her to exit. As soon as Nancy's feet poke through the middle, Jason grabs her and pulls her outside so she can breathe fresh air and be free from the tiny insects that are hiding in the bush.

While her eyes are still wet from crying, Nancy hugs Jason.

“You're sobbing, honey?”

Jason began.

As she began to clean her arms and legs with her hands and scratch the irritations caused by the weeds, Nancy murmured, "I just find it bothering me, Jason.”

“What occurred?” Jason holds her shoulders to face her and asks.

“My older brother sent these images here to see what I was doing to the folks here, I just found out from the chairman's wife who has them.”She narrated.

"You mean to imply that the chairman's wife told you and that she has photos of your late father and your brother?" "Jason reiterated the details to get agreement.

He seemed to be doubting the veracity of reality.

“Where are her proofs that the man and his female companions are your brother's representatives if it is true?” Jason says.

"That's what she told me," Nancy added,

"We shouldn't jump to conclusions too early. Fortunately, you didn't let them know you.” Jason remarked.

"Yes, I try to hide, but I intend to change into a tough girl without this mustache, honey. And I will tell them my plan to help them improve their standard of living by supporting them, by giving them machinery and farming equipment to help them make the most of any land they might receive through land reform."

As Jason appears surprised, Nancy clarifies.

"You mean to suggest that you'll carry out what the Agrarian Reform Program has long since declared to these farmers?”

Jason asks further as nancy nodded adding,

My eldest brother just arrived from United Nations with his wife and daughter and it breaks my heart to learn that my father has passed away. I must go see him because they scheduled him to be brought into internment before the new year.” Nancy further said,

"I should acquire all the data information from the office and investigate which farmers are renouncing their claims to rights after being duped by the previous administration," she added,

I also need this data so I may compare it to the Supreme Court copy and the Agrarian Reform Program copy to see which one is correct.

Suddenly,” Happy birthday, honey. I suppose it's midnight,” Nancy said as her thoughts turned to his birthday.

They quietly moved away from the crowd to the safest location, where Jason can only know after Jason softly groped her for a gift. Nancy couldn't reject him at that moment.

“Then, to get there with your family by early dawn, we will hasten to your father's ranch.”

As they came to a little, deserted nipa cottage, Jason exclaimed.

“Please don't think that I am taking advantage of you. I simply wanted to have you while we still have time together since sooner or later you will leave me alone. This has been vacant for a long time because the owner left for the city to work. We may stay here for a while.” Jason says,

In response, Nancy's interrupted,

“And I might become pregnant afterward."

He continued while grinning,

"After your late father's interment, I will approach your family for approval for our immediate marriage, and we will get married soon."

As they began to scrub the area with dried banana leaves, Jason is stating.

Jason pulled out the placemat from his backpack so they could both lie down together.

He whispers, and Nancy can smell his warm breath, which rekindled her initiating flames as he caressed her entire body as unwrapped it. "Thank you for this gift, honey, and I will undoubtedly miss you once you decide to go back to your studies in the city," he says.

Since they were completely comfortable with one another's dress choices, Nancy treated him the same way. She deliberately gave herself to her first love and again gave up her purity for him.

“I am aware that it is against our beliefs to offer one's purity to a man without first getting married, but I am also aware that I am not yet ready for a lifetime commitment. I hope you can understand why.”

Nancy remarked as Jason swiftly resisted the impulse to embrace her and releases her.

“I thought you wanted me to be your spouse and the father of your child, but I was so foolish to believe you.” He is hurt adding,

I would prefer to have your attractive twin sister because she is more feminine than you, who is a tough guy.”

Nancy is being taunted by Jason, which leaves him dumbfounded and deeply hurt.

Furiously bursting out, he grabbed his pants and moved to leave her alone.

Jason decided to interrupt their mating at that very time, but Nancy was unable to respond swiftly.

“It's your birthday today. Are you rejecting my best presents for you right now?” She quickly took the clothes that Jason gave her for a tough guy disguise as she looked at him moving away.

 She left the small nipa cabin alone while she finished all the wrapping and continued to stroll carefully through the mountain trees.

"I'm attempting to get him back, but he's leaving me alone while I'm lying down, marching straight for the door, donning his combat boots, and packing his bag. Ignoring me is an insult! ”

 As she moves along the unknown path, Nancy makes an inaudible groan.

She finds herself suddenly in front of the chairman's wife, who is sitting with her siblings in front of her home. The wife grins at her without yet realizing that she is the new administrator of the haciendas.

Nancy is feeling conflicted this time, but after praying, she swiftly seizes the truth to stand steady amid the turbulent existence as she walks up to the wife and takes off her disguised mustache.

"I am Nancy Coronell, the eldest daughter of Don Fausto Coronell and the eldest sister of Sergeant Rafael Coronell of the United States Armed Forces. I am here to resolve the conflicts about the farmers' emancipation program which was being unrecognized by the corrupted management."

She spoke quietly, hoping that no one would hear her.

“However, I needed you to gather all the information I require to properly plan how to implement the program with these underprivileged farmers. Could you please do it for me? ”

Nancy queries her.

"Can I have a list of everyone's full names, addresses, ages, and status present including yours?”

Nancy started as she ask her to keep and do the census secretly.

"Ask your husband, who is a chairman here, because I know you can do it since you know who the true members of your people are."

As Nancy found a paper from her siblings and borrow it.

“You send the message to me through my contact number and swear to me that no one will find out about it. I'll purchase you a phone so you may communicate with me discreetly through your spouse. Can you understand me? " Nancy added saying,” here is the model for you to follow, and I will pay you money for the job well done. ”

Nancy further requests the woman. She has to be in a hurry to leave the area so that Jason won't get involved in that matter again. The woman simply nodded and swore before Nancy that after midnight. Nancy then left the area by herself, not expecting Jason to reappear and show up before her. Although she was heartbroken, Nancy continued to believe and stand in the truth, which led her to the right path in life.

She can still make out Jason playing about with her brothers' representatives' friends before she entirely left them.

”He is easily seduced by her seductions, so that explains why he has the nerve to tease me. You miserable man, I won't ever let you touch me again after you insulted me today. It's enough that I've learned and experienced what it's like to be a true woman.”

When Nancy left the focal point and the causes of all her misery that early morning, she was heartbroken.

As she prayed obediently to God's will, Nancy reflected,

"But I know that there is always sunrise as the sunset gives way for the darkness to take over so that all God's creation can find rest and regain strength. But for me that darkness never gives me rest and strength for a new day, instead it teaches me to search the light and restart new life again.”

Jason noticed Nancy leaving the mountain people and pretended he didn't notice her anymore. However, after a short distance, he decided to leave the damsel unnoticed and surreptitiously follow Nancy. Nancy was still walking alone towards her hacienda with a big burden inside of her.

“I wanted to tease you because if I don't manage my wants for you, you might get pregnant. I wished you could feel that my love never dies even if you despised me so much. I still won't let anyone touch or injure you”.

Jason decides to covertly follow Nancy as she returns to the Hacienda Buena Gracias while holding all of these memories close to his heart.
