The door to the mansion swung open as Ryan and Emma walked in, both smiling like they had won a gold medal. Ryan walked into the kitchen exhausted as he sighed, tossing the car keys onto the counter.
"Finally home," he said, smiling, after the long hospital trip to get Emma's hand treated.
“I'm really impressed by how you handled things today," Ryan said, his expression softening. "You handled my grandfather perfectly, thinking on your feet like that."
Emma managed a tired smile, still rubbing her bandaged hand. “I didn’t have much of a choice, did I? Your grandfather nearly had us cornered. I had to think on my feet.” Emma let out a worry sigh, though this time her face was serious as she continued. “We can’t afford to jeopardize this plan; we need to be in our A game all the time.”
Ryan chuckled, stepping closer to her. “Well, you did more than just think. You saved us. My grandfather totally bought the story. He thinks we’re legit.” His eyes softened as he reached out to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re really good at this.”
Emma glanced down, trying to ignore the strange warmth his compliment gave her. She reminded herself that this was all just an act and she had an agenda. But Ryan’s gaze lingered on her, as if he saw something more. He cleared his throat and shifted the topic.
“Now that Grandpa has met you, we’re going to have to step things up and continue with our plan.” Ryan said, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I mean, we’ll have to spend more time together, especially with the birthday event coming up. It’ll seem weird if we’re not living together.
“So for now we need to make everything convincing, at least for a bit. So, I think it’s time for you to go get your bags and stay here for a while.”
Emma’s eyes widened slightly. “Stay here? Full-time?”
“Yeah, for now. People would be watching—the media, friends, and families—even my grandfather can be unpredictable, so we don’t have to take chances."
Emma nodded, though a twinge of unease settled in her chest. “Alright… I’ll grab my things then.” She turned to leave but felt Ryan’s hand lightly touch her arm.
“I’ll drive you,” he said, his voice low.
“No need. It’s not far, and I think we could both use a little break after today,” she replied, forcing a small smile as she continued, “after all, I need to make proper arrangements for my brother to make sure he is fine. I’ll be back in a few hours.”
Ryan hesitated, then nodded. “Alright. But be safe.”
As soon as she stepped outside, Emma felt a wave of relief. It had been tense inside Ryan’s apartment, not just because of the situation with his grandfather but because of the growing intensity between them. She needed space to breathe.
Inside the Ryan’s mansion, He casually watched Emma leave, and once the door clicked shut, he felt the weight of the day’s events press down on him.
He needed to relax and relieve himself for the day. The whole drama of trying to make this contract marriage work has been draining, and they haven’t even gotten anywhere yet. Stress was piling up, and he needed a release.
Ryan went straight to his room, changed his dress, and headed out to his secret bar. He couldn't afford to be seen in his regular bar as his grandfather's eyes were on him.
Ryan drove straight to a bar close by, where he knew the people would least expect him to be. Upon arrival, he went to the counter to order a drink for a start. He spotted a gorgeous woman at the bar, wearing a sexy gown; her hair was dark and long flowing down her back. He continued to steal a glance at her till their eyes finally met, and he felt an instant attraction. She sensed his restless energy and flashed a sultry smile.
Without saying a word, Ryan moved toward her. He wasn’t here to talk as usual, just wanting to satisfy his sexual urges. Ryan needed an escape from the chaos consuming his life.
He slipped some cash into her palm. Immediately, she understood the assignment. Her gentle touch on his arm sent a spark through him. She seemed to sense his desperation as she watched him grab her ass, and before long, they slipped away to a private room, hidden from the world.
The room pulsed with heat; their bodies entwined. Her touch sent shivers down Ryan's spine as her hands slipped under his shirt, nails grazing his skin. Her warm breath on his neck left him breathless.
Every touch, every kiss ignited something primal in him. It was rough, wild, and exactly what he needed to escape, even if just for a moment.
Meanwhile, Emma's cab stopped outside her apartment, snapping her back to reality. She'd spent the ride lost in thought, replaying the day's events. Just 24 hours ago, she wouldn't have imagined herself being so fearless and strategic.
As Emma glanced in the rearview mirror, a black sedan caught her attention. It had been tailing her. Her heart skipped a beat. Was she being paranoid, or was someone actually tracking her?
She shook off the feeling and quickly paid the driver, stepping out of the cab. She still noticed the sedan didn’t move, implying it was definitely following her.
Emma tried to see inside, but the tinted glass blocked her view. She hurried into her apartment, locked the door, and leaned against it, trying to calm down.
But before taking a breath down to calm her anxiety, her phone vibrated in her bag. She pulled it out, expecting it to be Ryan. But the message made her blood run cold:
“You can’t run forever, Emma. I can see you’re chilling with the big boys now. Your debt won’t disappear. Pay up, or there’ll be consequences.”
Her hands trembled as she read the text. She knew exactly who it was from—the person she had borrowed money from for Lukas’s treatment. She had thought she could buy some time, but now the threats were starting. And Ryan had no idea about any of it.
Emma's eyes widened with fear as she stared at the phone, trying to digest the information she just read about.
Her phone beeped again with another message, sending a chill down her spine:
"I'm closer than you think."
She swiftly opened the curtain to the window to peek, her heart pounding. The black sedan was gone.
Emma stood by the window frozen; she was sure she had seen the black sedan not too long ago, but now it’s no longer there. She checked her phone again and read the message, “I’m closer than you think.” The threatening message was still fresh in her mind; she knew she and her brother were in danger, and she needed to look for a way to pay back. But first she needed to be sure Lukas was safe. She quickly gathered her things, packed her back, and headed to the hospital. She will go to Ryan’s place from the hospital, considering The danger that lies around her at the moment—she can’t be all alone at home.Inside the cab heading to the hospital, Emma’s mind was filled with thoughts as she turned around every single minute in the cab, fearing for her life. The weight of everything going on in their lives bore down on her, Lukas, Ryan, the fake marriage, and now threats from who she owed money. Emma’s breath quickened, her fingers tapping nervously against her thigh as she glanced over her
As the figure approached them, Emma’s mind began to race with fear. She recognized him, he’s someone from her past. She had borrowed money from him to take care of Lukas medical bills and hadn’t been able to pay up. Emma cringed behind Ryan as fear gripped her the more,Tte man's ruthless reputation preceded him, and his cold gaze confirmed it. "You've been quite active," he sneered, his tone heavy and cold. “I thought you could hide from me, but it seems you’ve found yourself a new plaything.” He giggled.Ryan's gaze shifted anxiously between Emma and the approaching figure, his chest constricting with a mix of protectiveness and uncertainty.Yes, he gets treats like this considering his personality but the figure standing at his front , he hasn’t seen him before. “Who the hell are you?” Ryan asked with curiosity “Stay out of this,” the man warned, his eyes narrowing. “This is between me and her, pointing his finger towards Emma. “She’s the one who owes me.”Emma felt her stomach d
Emma stood in silence as she watched Ryan, his words hanging in the air with heavy suspicion.“This isn't just about the money, Emma,” he repeated again, looking at Emma straight into her eyeballs.Emma swallowed hard. She felt Ryan's eyes on her, expecting explanations she wasn't prepared to share. But he was right. The money she owed wasn’t the whole truth, and that man’s rage wasn’t just about the debt. There was something she had taken—something personal—that made him furious.“I didn’t just borrow the money,” she whispered, finally breaking the silence. Her fingers twisted nervously in her lap. “I stole something from him… something valuable.”Ryan’s expression darkened. “What was it?”Emma’s throat tightened as she recalled the day she fled. “It was a USB drive,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t mean to take it. It was mixed in with the documents I had. I found out later that it contained… sensitive information. Details about his illegal dealings, blackm
Emma felt her chest tighten as Leah's words bruised through her heart. The sight of the gorgeous dress made her wonder why she felt reluctant to purchase it considering it was worth every penny. She has always been the one running away in college, but this time, something is different. She wasn’t that same girl anymore. She had Ryan’s credit card in her hand, and she wasn’t going to let Leah see her falter.Leah smirked, leaning closer. “I mean, let’s be real. You can't afford it, and I might probably just buy it so you don't come back admiring it. Even though I don't really need it.”Emma’s fingers tightened around the card, her mind racing. She could feel Mia’s protective energy beside her, ready to launch into a sharp retort, but Emma didn’t need defending—not anymore.Without breaking eye contact with Leah, Emma calmly walked toward the register, holding the dress like it was already hers. “Actually, Leah, what you don't know is that time changes,” she said, her voice steady even
“Selena,” Ryan said with a flat tone, his voice cold with warning, “this isn’t the place or time for your drama.”Selena’s eyes flicked toward him briefly before settling back on Emma. “Oh, come on, Ryan. We both know I’m just stating what everyone’s thinking.” She raised an eyebrow, looking Emma up and down with a disgusting look. “You two just don’t seem to fit. But I guess... people go through phases, right? I’ll just be here when it all falls apart.”Emma’s heart raced, but she kept calm and refused to show any reaction to Selena’s hurtful words. “I believe it hurts to be referred to as the past, like I could hear people gossip and refer to you as ‘was Ryan’s girlfriend,’ but guess what? I am the present; deal with it, Selena.”Selena's smile seemed forced, her eyes sparkling with malice. "Touché," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She stepped closer, lowering her tone. "Let's be honest, sweetheart. You think you can keep Ryan's attention for long? Everyone knows we're me
Moan harder, baby, yeah, yeah, it's coming, yeah, aah…Ryan let out a loud moan of pleasure as he playfully spanked the lady he was fucking, admiring her big ass. With a sheepish smile on his face. He felt a brief sense of power and control. It was fleeting, but he was used to that. As he laid on the bed to take a deep breath from the moment. ‘Care for another round?’ She asked, and he sheepishly smiled and stood up from the bed without a word. He plans to go wash himself up and then ride her hard one more time. Just as he was about to step into the bathroom, the sudden beep of his phone halted him.‘Hmm,’ Ryan sighs, nodding his head, tempted to ignore it. He wasn't ready to be distracted at this point; he had another round to go with this sexy lady. But doubt crept into his thoughts. It could be work you fool, You don't joke with work. He hesitantly picked up his phone to find a message from his secretary: "Good afternoon, Mr. Miller. I've been attempting to contact you."”I hear
Chapter 2Emma sat in silence at Dr. Shawn's office, her heart pounding as he delivered the news. Her mind was lost in thoughts; yes, she knew her brother’s situation wasn't getting better, but to hear that he wasn’t responding to the chemotherapy treatment was disheartening. His voice was calm but heavy carrying the weight of what he had to say.“Emma, I’m afraid the chemotherapy isn’t working as we’d hoped,” Dr. Shawn began. His eyes were full of emotions, showing sympathy. “However, there’s an experimental clinical trial being developed by a group of scientists. The success rate looks promising, but…” His voice trailed off.Emma’s breath hitched. “But what, Dr. Shawn?”“They’re looking for sponsors. Funding is crucial to get this trial started, and even then, only a select number of patients will be accepted,” he explained.Emma’s face fell, and suddenly the room fell tiny. Her chest got all tight and worried. “Please, Doctor, you have to make sure my brother gets a spot. He deserv
Chapter 3Emma being lost in her thoughts, the world around her seemed to freeze, every option, every choice narrowing to this one moment. How could it come to this?Despite desperately needing a job, this opportunity wasn't her ideal solution. However, the prospect of $350,000 was enticing; it would help them bounce back financially. She would be able to provide for food and drugs in the meantime while they wait for the clinical trials to kick off.“Emma, are you there?” Aunt Jane snapped her out of her thoughts as she could sense the silence from the phone. “Ooh yes, I am; this was her chance to save her brother.I just wasn’t expecting this. Emma, just come over to my place now so we could talk about it, ok?” “Alright,” Emma responded. “I will be on my way now.” Hmmm, she exhaled deeply. ‘This would be a whole new experience, as she never thought people were still into this. Well, rich people, I guess, have all the money to spend on crazy things.’ But now she had no choice, did sh
