Evelyn's POV

My eyes parted open as a ray of light pierced through the slightly opened curtains on the window and rested on my face. I flickered my eyelids, dazed by the bright light that hit my eyes as soon as I opened them. I raised my head a bit and scrutinized the room. It looked different, exquisitely designed to suit a man's taste. But my room was all pinky. Where the hell was I?

Tilting my dizzy head to the left, my gaze hit those of Liam. He looked so breathtaking in this state and smelt so nice. His face was so strikingly attractive as he flipped his eyelids open and smiled perfectly while he stared at me. I made to get up at once, until I noticed that I was trapped in his embrace.

I had to be dreaming. I can't believe this! I can't believe I spent a night in his room for the first time. This is definitely my first time being in his room. Why's everything happening so fast? Is this the happily ever after I had always wished for?

“Wh… What is going on here?” I batted my eyelid

I couldn't help but think about Liam all day. Literally everything reminded me of him. I yearned for more of his touches, but unfortunately he wasn't coming back anytime soon. Getting out of bed, I strode into the bathroom, his bathroom and lowered myself into the jacuzzi. I loved the smell of his presence, so I insisted on staying here all day, so I'd get refreshed every second by his intoxicating cologne. I put on the shower and let the warm shower splatter generously on my bare body, spreading warmth throughout every inch of it. I pushed my head back and moaned softly while my body was covered in lather. I could help but wish I would have the opportunity to do this with Liam. It'd be so lovely, I thought. After washing off, I dabbed his towel against my skin, apparently wetting it and inhaling its manly scent. It was soothing, causing me to reminisce about the activities of the morning just before he left. Dashing out of the bathroom, I went to his closet and put on one of his

“Woah! Look who we have here! The one night stand opportunistic gold-digger and her supposed Billionaire husband on a date! Amazing, isn't it?” Olivia jeered at us, causing many people in the restaurant to glare at us. I felt irritated by the piercing gazes that jabbed at me and Liam. Liam seemed unfazed by Olivia's actions. He only stared intently at me and gave me a reassuring smile. Olivia grinned fiendishly, drawing closer to our table. She placed a palm on our table and leaned by it, facing Liam. Liam chose to ignore her, but she didn't relent. She placed her right palm on his cheek, caressing it softly to my chagrin and said, “Cmon, Mr lover boy! Don't you dare pretend you're innocent. Or should I tell them all the horrible things you did?” She taunted, with a wicked smirk. “Look Evie, you have to stop this! What exactly do you want from me? Money?” Liam asked in desperation , creeping up his cheek. “Oh come off it Mr CEO! I don't need your money anymore. I'm never a paupe

  • Love Beyond The Contract   More Trouble

Liam's POVI placed my hand on Evie's waist and sauntered downstairs that way, journeying the long flight of spiraling stairs gently until we got to the last. We've decided to make breakfast together to spice up things. Although I didn't quite enjoy cooking that much, I agreed, eager to spend more time with her.We paused by the living room when our eyes travelled to the television and surprisingly, I found my picture there. Well, it wasn't actually a surprise, I've always appeared on TV but this time, an inauspicious aura hung in the air.Striding closer to the living room, I squinted my eyes on the television to decipher what exactly the news headline was this time. My grip on Evie's waist released as and reached for the remote control to increase the volume to hear clearly what they had to say.“CEO Liam Wright has been reported for the alleged murder of the unborn child of one Evelyn Peterson and manipulation, by an anonymous person and is expected to show up in court today to be

  • Love Beyond The Contract   Everyone's Guilty

Gritting my teeth angrily, I steal a second glance at Olivia, with a cold icy look on my face. She looked away, as though intimidated by my intense gaze. It thrilled me to find her look that way. I wasn't done with her yet. I'd teach her a good lesson once we're out of this place.“Mr Liam, you may proceed to the dock,” the gentle looking courtier said, inviting me for the trial.I strode to the dock and sat, scrutinizing the people around me conspicuously. My eyes spotted another familiar face. Dr Howells, the doctor. Our family doctor! My heart froze. What is he here for?The judge commenced the trial at once.“Guilty or not guilty?” He asked, directing his gaze at me.“Not guilty,” I answered.“Do you have a defendant? Or should the court provide one for you?”“I have one, sir.”“Alright, he may proceed then,”Mr Dawson, my lawyer, came forward and stood where was expected of him. The judge fitted his glasses that fell at the roof of his nose properly and began the deal of the day.

  • Love Beyond The Contract   Official Engagement

Evelyn's POV Liam's car blared its horn loudly in front of the house, notifying me about his arrival. I've waited all day for him to come back, so I'd get to know the outcome of the sudden trial. I only hope he wasn't sentenced to some month's imprisonment, because I can't bear to lose him for that long. Liam parked at the parking lot and alighted from his car, striding towards the door, bearing a smug look on his face. I couldn't help but wonder why I felt so contended, considering the matter at hand. Did he come out clean or something? “Welcome home, Liam!” I snuggled him in. “Thanks wifey,” he teased, placing a kiss on my forehead. “So, how did it go?” I asked the all important question, peering into his face with a concerned gaze. “Very well. Everything went fine.” He beamed with a smile. “I was offered an option to pay for my offenses, or to spend the next month behind bars. Trust me to choose the former.” “And Olivia?” “She had the same options too, except that her fine

  • Love Beyond The Contract   Unpleasant Surprise

Lisa's POV If there was anything I desired the most, it was to make Evelyn's life as miserable as possible. She never deserved anything good and shouldn't be allowed to enjoy a good life. I bet the arrogant and ruthless CEO she was forced to marry would do her more harm than good. As much as I never wanted Evelyn to know peace, I also wanted Lucas all to myself. I've succeeded in snatching him away from her, but now, I think he's gradually drifting away from me. He leaves for work as early as 7 am and doesn't return until midnight and even when he does, he reeks of whiskey mixed with an unfamiliar womanly scent, and sometimes, patches of lip gloss stains on his shirt and face. He now goes on unending business trips too often, claiming that it was due to his new position in the branch that was newly launched. Is he cheating on me? I've kept silent enough. I had to know what exactly is going on in my marriage. I won't let the strange woman snatch my husband away from me. Never! L

  • Love Beyond The Contract   Betrayal

“Darlene?” I curled my lips and parted my lips open in astonishment. “How could you? How could you do this to me? I trusted you.”It now made sense. The late nights he kept, the incessant business trips to God knows where, the lipgloss-tainted shirts and the quite familiar sweet-smelling fragrance that now graced my nostrils, now made sense. He was cheating on me with Darlene, his secretary, who's also my best friend. Tears threatened to fall off my eyes, but I forced them back in. I didn't want them to see me shed tears because of what happened. I didn't want to look weak, or to be vulnerable. “Why didn't you inform me that you were coming?” Lucas uttered coldly. It was all he could say; to ask why I didn't notify him of my coming. Does he even realize I'm his legally married wife?I sniffled, struggling unsuccessfully to hold back the tears that brimmed in my eyes. My bloodshot eyes poured down streams of unending tears, wetting my face. My gaze lingered on Lucas and he shrugged,

My eyelids parted open slowly, dazed by the dazzling light of the large chandelier that glowed above me. I flickered my eyelids in confusion, trying hard to recall the activities of last night and how I ended up all alone in this expensive-looking room. All I could remember was having a short conversation with the strange man that led us both to bed. Everything that happened afterwards was erased from my memory. Now I'm half-naked in the room, while my ripped clothes lie helplessly on the black and white checkered floor and there's no trace of him around, not even his scent. My mind trailed back to Lucas and how he cheated on me. I bit my lower lip in agony. The pain of it was still there. It still lingered probably because even after taking my revenge by having a good time with a stranger last night, it won't stop Lucas from going on with Darlene if he wanted and there was nothing I could do about it.Grabbing my bag from the bedside stool, I quickly reached for my phone to check u

I could hardly wait for my antenatal care session to be done with. I've had just enough of everything. I should have just ended it all long ago, that way I wouldn't be involved in this mess. Just when I lost hope, Frank waltzed back into my life and instilled a fresh hope and now he's leaning me shattered and heartbroken.“Miss Lisa, come forward, please,” the doctor motioned to me, indicating that it was my turn to be attended to.“Okay, doctor!” I said and moved to the chair opposite him.He outlined the necessary medication and suitable meals, rich in various nutrients that should be taken by me. I thanked him and left afterwards, after giving Evelyn one last scrutinizing gaze.Frank was supposed to drive me back home. He had said he'd report at the hospital in thirty minutes' time, but unlike him, he didn't show up even after more than an hour's time. I wasn't so bothered about that anyway. He was the cause of the heaviness I felt in my heart and I wouldn't want to have anything

“It's another day to go see the doctor!” Frank reminded me, with a kiss on my forehead.Getting out of bed, I stretched groggily and slipped into my flip flops and took to the bathroom to get ready for the day's antenatal session. I carried out all my daily routine and in about an hour, Frank dropped me off at the hospital and left afterwards.I strode heavily into the doctor's office for some medical check-up before I proceeded to thehospital's gynecology section, where the antenatal care was being provided. “Good morning, doctor!” I greeted with a faint smile, as soon as I got into his office.“Morning, ma'am. Welcome to my office,” The doctor replied curtly, raising his gaze to meet me, his eyes particularly on my protruded belly.“Your pregnancy is advancing smoothly,” he observed, although I felt might have meant the opposite- The pregnancy had brought me so much pain and mental stress.“How about your husband? He didn't come in here with you?”“My husband?” I blinked with skept

The doctor handed the test results to Frank, his face lit with a smile. I already knew my fate and so I didn't need to wait for the doctor to announce the outcome of the DNA test. I was more bothered about dad's stern punishment, about how mum would feel if I eventually get cut off from their lives.“The test results confirm that you're the rightful father of the child!” The doctor finally said those words I never wanted to hear, although I already knew they were true.“Thank you so much doctor,” Frank muttered, exchanging handshakes with the doctor.“You're welcome,” the doctor said and left us to ourselves“You see it, I told you I was the child's father and you denied it. Now you see, I'm right. • Love Beyond The Contract   Unexpected Fate

I heard the sound of a familiar car drive into the compound and blare its horn loudly as it parked. Peeking through the curtained window in my room upstairs, my eyes met a familiar sight. Frank's Lamborghini was parked out there. He alighted and stood by it. My heart thumped as caught a glimpse of him. He was absolutely breathtaking! He was dressed smartly in casual good-looking clothes and wore dark shades that did well to shield a good proportion of his tough face. I've never seen him look so good before. It looked like he dressed specifically to impress me. He was here to pick me up and I was all set, waiting for his arrival since early morning. Frank stomped his feet impatiently as he stood by his car and pulled out his phone, probably to give me a call. I smiled and reached for my phone quickly even before it rang. “Hello baby!” He greeted me. “Hi! I'm coming to meet you downstairs. Just a moment,” I said, with a smile “Alright, I'd be waiting!” He replied and hung

Frank took a few steps closer to me, placing his hand back on my shoulder. I decided to stay put this time. He gently tugged some strands of hair behind my ear and turned to look directly into my eyes.“Look baby, I know the circumstances that brought us together are quite questionable, I just want you to know that I genuinely care about you and our baby. I won't do anything to hurt you anymore. I promise, believe me,” he pleaded, his eyes graced with genuine sincerity.I felt dreamy as I stared on, my eyes well with tears. I've never felt so in love before. He's a monster, yet I won't deny that I'm falling for him already. He might not be the perfect human, but he's perfect for me.“I miss my parents so much. I'm sure they'll be expecting me back soon. I haven't even sorted out the hospital bills,” I whimpered.A teardrop rolled down one eye and then another in the second eye. He wiped them off caringly and wrapped me in his comforting arms.“Don't cry please! I'd pay the bills.” He

“Wake up, baby!” A masculine voice jolted me out of my peaceful sleep.I flickered my eyes for a moment and shut them back, to think properly. Who is he and how did I get here?“Dad?” I stared at him searchingly, my eyebrows contorted. He giggled at me, like I was making some joke. “Don't tell me you've forgotten your Daddy so soon! Your baby's daddy as well,” he teased and chuckled with a mirthless laughter. “Oh!” The events of last night began replaying in my mind.“I didn't die? Why did I follow him? Did he sleep with me?” I muttered to myself.“You'd have preferred to die than follow me last night, you mean? Don't you care about my baby?” He interrupted my thoughts. “Well, we spent the night together, if you must know. But don't be afraid I didn't touch you.”I blinked in disgust. His presence disgusted me, as much as his words did.“It's my baby not yours, please. Get that stuck into your brains!" “What exactly is wrong with you? Why would you think of killing yourself?” he frowned disheartenedly. I bowed my head in regret. His piercing gaze shot at me and I couldn't withstand it any more.“I… I'm sorry. I won't try it again.” I faltered, wondering why I felt indebted to the man who caused me so much pain.“Get her into the car!” He said, gesturing to the other man.“I won't!” I backed off, unwilling to go with them.“Let's go, please. He joined in the car, sitting next to me, while the other man drove.“You think you could run away from me, huh?” He asked, his husky voice reminding me of that night.“Look, I don't know where you're taking me to, but that doesn't give you the right to question me unnecessarily.” I blurred

I stare blankly into the empty space, the nothingness shook within me, an unpleasant feeling of self-pity, when I remember my predicament; how my life had turned upside down all of a sudden, how life had dealt treacherously with me. I wished my world could be different. Different from the nagging voices in my head that reminded me daily of my struggle, pain and lingering sorrow, and of the imperfections that embraced my world.Mum and Dad are still in the hospital, not because they're still ailing, but because I can't afford to foot the both bills and now I haven't been able to attend the antenatal sessions the doctor recommended for me, just because I can't pay off my pending debts. What a shame!I had no other person to run to. The few relatives I know, I don't relate well with them, especially after Evelyn was sent out of this house and automatically out of our lives. Evelyn could have been of help to save my face from the embarrassment, but right now, we're not in talking terms. T

After the questioning was over, I was allowed to leave, while a quite familiar man seated on the bench with me was whisked into a cell. Although I felt happy at his retribution, I couldn't help but wonder if he was really the man I had spent that splendid night with, after Lucas cheated on me. Maybe he was the one responsible for my pregnancy. Just maybe….Evening was setting in already. I boarded a taxi and got back to the hospital. Surprisingly, mum sat in the seat I was sitting in before I left the hospital. She's been discharged already. My face beamed with happiness.“Mum!” I half yelled and walked excitedly to where mum was seated.“Mum? What do you mean? Where did you go?” She snuggled me in a little and then let me sit beside her.“I'm sorry I left for the police station. I received an urgent call from them.” I said, unsure whether to go into details. “How do you feel now, Mum?” “Police station? Why the hell did you go there? Did you commit a crime?” She was left undone.“C'm
