At the elevator entrance, Bruno came to a halt. Lizzie, who had been looking down, didn't notice him stopping and bumped into his back. "Ouch!"
"Is there money on the ground for you to pick up?" Bruno turned around and asked her, having seen her following him closely with her head down since they turned the corner.
Lizzie pouted, "Well, why did you stop all of a sudden?" She retorted.
Bruno stepped back, stood beside her, and stretched out his long arm to pull her into his embrace. "How about this?"
"There are many people watching. Can't you be more gentlemanly?" Lizzie tried to pull his hand away but couldn't. She glared at him, annoyed.
"You're my wife; what's the problem?" Although Bruno said this, Lizzie didn't feel that way at all.
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Lizzie didn't say anything more, allowing him to hold her as they entered the elevator.
The hotel manager who walked out of the elevator had a smile on his face and gave them an ambiguous look, nodding slightly. Before the elevator doors closed, Bruno caught a glimpse of the steward standing in the corner, his smile cold and chilling.
Inside the elevator, it was just the two of them. Lizzie looked up at him, and his expressionless face, viewed from the side, made his striking features even more captivating. He was quite handsome, if only his temper were better.
As Bruno turned his head, he met her gaze directly. "Seen enough?" He asked indifferently.
Lizzie hurriedly looked away, staring at the side.
"Since you want to look at me, why sneak around?" With that, he reached out, pinched her chin, and locked eyes with her, not giving her a chance to escape.
"Who's looking at you? Don't flatter yourself." Lizzie turned her face away, refusing to look at him.
Bruno chuckled, and before she could react, he pressed his lips onto her soft, pink ones.
"Mmm..." Lizzie struggled, her small hands clenched into fists, pounding his chest.
After a long while, he let her go, and Lizzie reflexively slapped his face.
The sound of the slap echoed loudly in the confined space of the elevator.
"Weren't you just as lost in the moment? Can you say you don't like me kissing you?" Bruno didn't care about the slap, as if it were expected.
Lizzie stepped back, wiping her lips with the back of her hand. Lost in the moment? Hardly! He had forced himself on her!
"Lizzie, do you think you can wipe it off like this?" Bruno approached her.
With a ding, the elevator finally stopped at the top floor. Lizzie moved to the door, and as soon as it opened, she quickly ran out and into the room.
Bruno leisurely followed her in, finding Lizzie sitting on the couch with her back to him. He didn't bother looking at her, instead heading to another room, opening his laptop, and starting work.
Lizzie looked up and glanced at the slightly ajar door, hearing his voice as he discussed business matters. It seemed he was genuinely busy.
Since he is so busy, let me make a suggestion. He should be able to pass easily, right?.
With this thought, Lizzie's mood suddenly improved. She stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and felt something underfoot as she stood there. Moving her foot, she saw the necklace he had thrown away, bent down to pick it up, and held it in her hand.
Looking at the diamond ring on her ring finger, she wondered whether she still needed to keep the necklace since they were married. Perhaps it no longer held any meaning.
"What are you thinking about?" Bruno's voice suddenly appeared behind her.Lizzie turned around, only to see his handsome face close at hand. She took a step back and her head unexpectedly bumped into the glass window.
"Are you afraid of me?" Bruno propped one hand on the glass window and one against the wall, trapping Lizzie in front of him.
Lizzie tightly gripped the necklace in her hand and shook her head, "It's you who scared me by appearing out of nowhere."
Anyone would be startled by someone appearing silently out of nowhere.
"So, it's my fault?" Bruno raised his handsome eyebrows and asked her.
"That's what you said, not me." Lizzie mustered all her strength to push him away. If she continued to face him like this, she would definitely suffocate.
Bruno sat down on the sofa and saw Lizzie sitting far away from him on the edge of the bed, not even willing to look at him.
There was no sound in the spacious room, except for the somewhat stiff atmosphere spreading between the two.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang several times. Bruno leaned calmly on the sofa, showing no intention of opening the door."I'll get the door." Lizzie walked to the door, but as soon as her hand touched the doorknob, it was grasped by a large hand.
Bruno extended his long arm, hooked her waist, and pulled her into his arms, the two bodies closely against each other.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Lizzie was confused, her small body struggling incessantly, trying to get as far away from him as possible, but she was no match for his strength.
Bruno twisted the knob and opened the door.
"Master, Madam, your meal." A servant stood at the door with a trolley, on which were two steaks and a bottle of red wine.
Bruno nodded, "Hmm, bring it in." He didn't order any meal, of course, neither did Lizzie.
Lizzie looked up at Bruno, then at the meal in front of her, she didn't know when he had ordered the meal.
Bruno took out several hundred-dollar bills from his wallet and handed them to him, "Out!"
"Thank you, Master." The servant left the room and closed the door again.
The moment the door closed, Bruno let go of Lizzie, a cold smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
The old man had gone back, but still sent someone to supervise them.
Lizzie looked at him with some confusion.
Bruno sat down on the sofa, lit a cigarette, leisurely smoked, and his sharp eyes didn't even look at the steak in front of him. He then picked up the phone and dialed a number, "Steward, prepare the car for me."
"Are you going out?" Lizzie looked at him and asked softly.
Bruno stood up, glanced at Lizzie indifferently, didn't answer her, picked up the suit jacket hanging on the sofa, and prepared to leave.
"Wait," Lizzie called him, "you haven't had lunch yet."
"You eat!" Bruno stood at the door, said without turning his head, then opened the door and walked out of the room.
Lizzie watched the door close automatically, sighed, and looked at the meal in front of her, "Why order two if you're not eating, what a waste." Although she didn't like steak, she was really hungry now.
Bruno went downstairs, and the steward sat in the black Bentley, "Master, where do you want to go now?" He said, got out of the car, and opened the back door.
"I can drive myself." Bruno stood next to the car.
"Master, let me accompany you!" The steward looked at him, handed him the car keys, but still said.
Bruno looked at the car keys in his hand, then at the anxious steward, "Alright!" He handed the keys back to the steward and got into the back seat.
The black car drove away from the hotel, disappearing on the long road.
Lizzie spent the entire afternoon alone on the single sofa. The TV was on, but she didn't take in anything. Until dusk, Bruno still hadn't returned. She squinted her eyes feeling a little sleepy.
Bruno had been in a meeting at the branch office all afternoon. When he returned to the hotel, it was already dark. The steward parked the car in front of the hotel, "Master."
"You go park the car! I'm going up." Bruno coldly said, opened the car door, got out of the car, and walked into the rotating front door of the hotel.
Bruno took the elevator back to the presidential suite on the top floor. As soon as he opened the door, he heard the sound of the television, and Lizzie was lying on the sofa, already asleep. He took off his suit jacket and casually threw it on the single sofa next to him, entered the bathroom, changed his clothes, turned on the shower head, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.Upon hearing the noise, Lizzie opened her eyes, saw the black suit jacket on the sofa, and wondered if he had returned? She quickly got up from the sofa, walked into the bedroom, saw the bathroom door closed, and the sound of water coming from it. She hung the suit jacket in her hand on the hanger.Lizzie sat on the sofa, waiting for Bruno to come out. She still had something to say to him.Bruno came out of the bathroom in a white robe, glanced lightly at Lizzie sitting on the sofa, and turned to leave the bedroom. "Um, that..." Lizzie hesitated for a moment, not knowing what to call him."He
Bruno set down his coffee cup and looked at her, his smile light and seemingly insincere."What's up? Do you want coffee too?" Bruno's gaze slid over the coffee in front of him before meeting her eyes again.Lizzie shook her head, "No!"Bruno stood and moved to sit next to her, "What, what are you doing?" Lizzie tried to slide away from him as he neared, almost slipping off the chair, but Bruno caught her."I'm not going to hurt you, especially since you're my wife. Even if I did want to do something to you, it would be perfectly justified, wouldn't it?" Bruno said with a smile that sent chills down Lizzie's spine.Lizzie gently pushed him away, "I, I want to go upstairs.""Sure, let's go!" Bruno smiled and took her by the waist, leading her out of the dining room."I can walk myself." Lizzie looked up at him and spoke softly.Bruno ignored her, instead turning to the steward and saying, "Steward, you can go too!" At his words, the steward retracted his stepping foot, "Yes, young mast
"No." Lizzie shook her head. Did he sense something?"I gave you a chance to speak, and if you don't say anything, don't blame me for not giving you the opportunity." Bruno said dismissively, sitting down on the couch nearby.Lizzie hesitated for a few seconds, "You seem to be very busy with work. Can I go back to my country earlier?""Anything else is fine, but not this one." Bruno refused directly without even looking at her.She knew the outcome would be like this. Anyway, she could only resign herself to staying here until he finished his work and returned to his country.Steward sent someone to deliver dinner, but Lizzie, in a fit of anger, didn't eat anything and went to her bedroom alone.Bruno didn't force her. This woman was not only ignorant but also willful. She agreed to have a honeymoon in the United States, but not even a week had passed, and she wanted to return. At least, he had to use this time to deal with everything he needed to manage. For more than a week, Bruno s
Lizzie suddenly stopped, turned around, and looked at him. "You mean, we're going home?"Bruno nodded."Great!" Lizzie's gloominess instantly vanished, and she smiled brightly, turning around to give him a hug. "Thank you!"At this moment, Steward approached them. "Young Master, Young Madam, are you alright?"Lizzie shook her head. "I'm fine, sorry, Steward.""You don't have to apologize to me. I should have accompanied you outside. The young master was very worried," Steward said, relieved to see Lizzie safe and sound.Bruno hugged Lizzie. "Let's go! Pack your bags, so we don't miss the flight.""Alright," Lizzie quickly walked into the elevator as soon as the doors opened.Bruno turned to Steward. "Steward, you talk too much. Go prepare the car and wait at the airport," he said coldly before also entering the elevator.Lizzie returned to her room and quickly packed her clothes. There wasn't much, so she only needed a small carry-on bag.Lizzie glanced at Bruno, who was sitting motio
"How can it be? In this house, you are the young lady. We have plenty of servants. You don't have to do anything. Just give orders to them. You just need to comfortably play your role as the young lady and there is no need for you to do the things that should be done by the servants." Flora said so, apparently for the servants to hear, but it was actually directed towards Lizzie, signifying that no matter how egalitarian she was in the Jiang family, in the Leng family, she must abide by the rules and act accordingly.Lizzie nodded, "I understand, Mom," she said, her voice very small.Flora laughed and said, "Good, understanding is important. If you are tired, do you want to go upstairs to rest?""I don't need to, I slept on the plane," Lizzie said, somewhat reserved. It was her first time here, and she couldn't help but feel uneasy and nervous."Come on, have some juice, oh, where is Yan? Didn't he come back with you?" Flora asked."Oh, he said he had a company meeting and wouldn't be
"Um, Kolo..." Lizzie began hesitantly.Bruno halted in his tracks, looking at her, "Since you seem to enjoy calling me Kolo, let's stick with that," he said, before continuing on his way.Lizzie jerked her hand free of his grip, glaring at him, "I can walk by myself, and besides, I don't like calling you Kolo." He was a presumptuous man. It was as if every time he appeared, she was forced to swallow words she hadn't yet spoken."Lizzie, remember, in the Kolo household, you are Miss Kolo, a virtuous lady of good breeding. If my parents find out about your glaring and shouting, well, the consequences could be severe," Bruno murmured into her ear in a lowered voice.Lizzie cast her gaze downward. His words held truth.Bruno took Lizzie's hand once again, and this time, Lizzie did not resist. In the dining room, Yelun and Flora were already seated at the table. Upon seeing Bruno and Lizzie approach, Yelun immediately called out, "Bruno, Lizzie, come sit."Bruno and Lizzie took their seats
“怎么这么问?你吃醋了?”Bruno反问她, Lizzie looked at him and sighed, "Just my luck." Reluctantly, she helped him put on his shirt, her delicate fingertips brushing against his firm skin. She squinted and fumbled with the buttons, her fingers trembling slightly. Finally, she finished buttoning the shirt."Done," she said, quickly retreating to the bathroom. The door was locked a second later.Lizzie stood in front of the bathroom mirror, patting her face and washing it as quickly as possible. When she emerged, she found Bruno already dressed and sitting on the couch. She grabbed a soft yellow dress from the closet and changed in the bathroom."Um, aren't you going downstairs?" Lizzie asked, standing in front of Bruno. She felt a little scared in the unfamiliar home.Bruno put down the financial magazine he was reading. "Let's go!"Lizzie picked up her backpack from the couch and caught Bruno's arm as he was about to walk out the door. "Cold... Yan."Bruno turned to look at her. "What's the matter?"
"No troubles, we're just here to check up since the boss is back." Jepan shook his head, smiling, taking a glance at Lycan who was sipping his coffee, and casually slung his arm over his shoulder. "You're Stone, right?"Lycan expressionlessly lowered his coffee cup, neither confirming nor denying."Rest assured, I'm doing great. You've seen me now, shouldn't you guys get back to work? I have a lot to do," Bruno quickly hinted for them to leave.Jepan retracted his leg from the coffee table, "Boss.""If you have something to say, spit it out. Don't stutter," Bruno lifted his gaze, looking at him."You speak." Jepan nudged Lycan at his side.Lycan continued to drink his coffee, "I have nothing to say. You dragged me here, what do you want me to say?"Bruno lifted his lips, "Is your company going under?""Boss, my company is running perfectly well. Actually, I came here to check up on you, no, on your wife." Jepan finally revealed his true intentions.Hearing him mention Lizzie, Bruno wa
On a sunny weekend, a month later, Bruno drove with Lizzie to the orphanage.Although it was already afternoon, the orphanage was still bustling with activity. Bruno walked hand in hand with Lizzie through the sprawling garden, watching the children running around on the grass, unaffected by the heat. Among them was Adeline. Her once long hair had been cut into a stylish short style, making her look refreshed. There was a pure and genuine smile on her face, devoid of any traces of pain. She had forgotten the past, forgotten the pain she had endured. She was genuinely happy.Xu Wan approached them. "Adeline has been doing well during this time."She stood beside Bruno and Lizzie, reminiscing about Adeline's past. "Adeline used to have a strong sense of inferiority because she felt abandoned by her parents. She always wore a mask of strength and tried to distance herself from this place. But who would have thought that after all these years, she would come back completely transformed."
Bruno gave a nod, "Alright, I understand. I'll accompany Lizzie.""But, boss, what about Adeline?" Lycan spoke up, noticing that Bruno hadn't mentioned Adeline at all."How is she?" Bruno asked flatly. Even though Adeline had taken a bullet for him, his attitude toward her hadn't changed."The details are still unclear. She's currently in surgery," Lycan reported, "What if the situation isn't promising?" Given Adeline's critical condition upon being taken to the hospital, it was uncertain if she'd survive."We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Keep a watch on her and keep me updated. Lizzie was deeply shaken by this. I need to be with her." Having said that, Bruno retreated into the patient room.Watching the closed door, Jepan murmured, "Lycan, did you notice? The boss doesn't really care about Adeline, even if she took a bullet for him. He didn't even blink.""I know. In his heart, there is only room for Lizzie. She must be scared after what happened. And if the bullet had hi
Lizzie struggled with all her might, but her white blouse was ripped apart, buttons scattering across the floor.Charles stared at her exposed, smooth skin, his eyes locked onto her."Bruno certainly has a good eye," Charles remarked, tut-tutting softly.Lizzie pursed her lips in anger. The way Charles was looking at her felt like an insult."It's just the two of us here. Don't be shy." Charles pulled her close into his arms, planting a kiss on her cheek. The light contact made her feel nauseous from the bottom of her heart.Just as Charles was about to rip off the remainder of her blouse, a loud commotion erupted outside. Before they could react, the wooden door was kicked down. Bruno, dressed in a black suit, stood at the entrance."Bruno," Lizzie cried out in relief. Her heart, held tight with worry, finally eased. She tried to move towards him, but Charles held her back.Charles was taken aback by Bruno's appearance. "Bruno?""So you recognize me, and yet you dare touch my woman."
Lizzie was tied up, unable to move. Even if she wanted to escape from the high-rise building, she was trapped.Footsteps echoed from outside. The sound of shoes on concrete indicated there were a lot of people approaching. Lizzie shrunk into a corner as the door was thrust open, and to her surprise, Charles was the first to enter."You," Lizzie looked up at him."Miss Lizzie, hello. We meet again." Charles approached her, looking down from his superior height."What do you want?" Lizzie was taken aback; she never expected it would be him.Charles crouched down to her level. "Of course, I've been thinking about you." He caressed her face gently, "I've missed this soft cheek of yours."He was ready to risk it all for her. Bruno had canceled their partnership because of her. Charles wouldn't be lenient either.Lizzie turned her face away, "Don't touch me. Take your dirty hands off me." Was this man really intending to possess her? Just because of that one meeting at the nightclub?"Miss
Just as Lizzie had risen and was attempting to guide Yelun back to the villa, two men suddenly appeared beside her. They forcefully shoved Yelun's wheelchair away from her grasp. "You guys..." Lizzie advanced to grab the wheelchair, but was held back by one man gripping her arm, preventing her from moving forward.Helplessly, Lizzie watched as Yelun's wheelchair rolled a considerable distance before tipping over, taking him with it.She tried to scream for help, only to realize the park was eerily devoid of people."Who are you and what do you want? Let me go!" Lizzie struggled in vain against their firm grip."Dad!" She yelled, but was swiftly restrained by the two men and forced into a vehicle. With the engine roaring to life, Lizzie watched as the park faded into the distance. She frantically pounded on the car window shouting, "Let me out, let me out!"The car sped further away, and Lizzie swivelled around to look at her captors. She reached for her mobile phone, only to realize i
Bruno rose from his seat and walked over to her. "How did you get here? Did you drive yourself?" he asked. "Yes," Lizzie nodded. "Don't worry, I drove carefully." She was aware that her driving skills were not the best, so she seldom drove on her own. "Next time, let me know if you want to go out. I'll come pick you up," Bruno said, gripping her hand tightly. Lizzie nestled into his arms with a smile. "Understood. You must be hungry. Let's eat before the food gets cold. I made this meal myself." She led him to the couch, opened the lunchbox she had brought, and prepared to serve the food. "Nothing beats having a wife who knows how to take care of me and cook such delicious meals," Bruno said, wrapping one arm around her while picking up the chopsticks with the other hand. He reached out to feed her a bite. "You haven't eaten yet, have you? Try this." "I had a late breakfast. I'm not hungry yet." Despite her words, Lizzie accepted the piece of braised pork he held out to h
"Bruno, Bruno," Adeline watched as the elevator doors closed, was he really so heartless? Just to go back to Lizzie, he could abandon her so easily.Jepan stood beside her, watching Adeline's pale face, "Adeline, should we go? Do you need me to carry you?" he teased, grinning wickedly.Adeline was about to respond when Jepan interrupted her, "I might have thought about it, but I don't have the guts. I don't want to be misunderstood by Louise.""YOU!" Adeline glared at Jepan, who had never shown any kindness towards her. Especially now, when even Bruno had abandoned her, he became even more ruthless."No need, I can walk on my own." Adeline hobbled slightly as she entered the elevator, Jepan followed with a leisurely laugh.Bruno drove back to the villa at top speed. The villa was still brightly lit, were they not sleeping yet?In the living room, Lizzie held their son, both sitting there. Lizzie had a finance magazine in her hand, and their son was playing video games in front of the
The hotel banquet hall, Bruno in a black suit, with Jepan trailing him, still dressed casually."Boss, did you come in person because you wanted to confirm something?" Jepan asked."Isn't Charles coming too?" Bruno looked at Jepan, his smile inscrutable.Jepan nodded, "Boss, I bet you don't know someone else is coming.""Who?" As Bruno's words fell, a familiar voice came from behind."Bruno." Adeline, dressed in a graceful purple, approached from behind.Bruno's face fell as he watched Adeline approach him."Boss, I guess I'll go in first." Jepan wisely withdrew, regretting he hadn’t warned Bruno earlier.Seeing the gloom on Bruno's face, Jepan figured it was best to make himself scarce.Bruno was about to move forward when Adeline grabbed his arm, "Bruno, we're not strangers, are we?""How did you get here?" Bruno halted, addressing her."Bruno, I knew you were coming. You don't want to see me, but I had no choice but to come here." Adeline clasped his arm.Bruno pushed her hand away
Bruno held her tightly, "You should go home early today, I have things to do tonight.""Okay." Lizzie nodded, understanding that he didn't need to tell her everything, aware that he was very busy. Although there was nothing she could do to help, she didn't want her presence to disrupt his work. Before the end of the workday, Bruno had his driver take her back to her apartment. Lizzie had a small meal, her appetite wasn't great. She made herself a bowl of noodles, but only ate a few bites and settled in to watch TV. Bob, her dog, was sitting next to her, more engrossed in the TV than she was.Bruno and Adeline sat in a French restaurant that evening. The dim yellow light and soothing music made the atmosphere elegant and romantic."Bruno, I ordered a couple's set meal, hope you don't mind?" Adeline had already ordered when they were seated."Of course I don't mind, as long as you like it." Bruno was not particularly fond of Western food. As he looked at the premium steak set meal in fr
