Chapter 6

The bus arrived few minutes later and Elise boarded it immediately. She was lost in her own world as she stared out of the window. She really had no idea whether she would find a place to stay but just went blindly, hoping that by the end of the day she would have worked something out.

At the outskirts of the town Elise decided to alight from the bus, she was sure that the amount she had could not let her get any room within the city, she had to save as much as she could since it would be a long time timm she be able to get an apartment. She carried her suitcase as she moved from one rental

houset o another in search of a room she could afford, but all of them seemed really expensive. The cheapest price was one hundred and fifty dollars which she couldn't afford at that time if she wanted to push through the month with the little money she had.

It was already 1 am but she had yet to find a room, Elise felt so exhausted and went to a nearby shade to have a little rest. The guy who had silently followed her reported immediately to his boss when he noticed that she couldn't go on, she needed assistance and he was sure the boss would enable her get one. Having been notified on what to do, he immediately called caretaker toii one of the apartment buildings in town.

In her despair Elise heard her phone ring and immediately checked it out. It was Logan, she wondered how that had been possible. She had not even called his number from the card he had given her earlier. So many questions raced her brain that she almost forgot to answer the phone, it was about to go off when she answered it.

"Hello." Elise said.

"How are doing Elise, I'm sure you are wondering how I got your number but don't worry about it, I just had my ways." Replied Logan, he was sure that Elise would make a great fuss about it but since it was important they talk he couldn't wait till she decided to call from the number he had given her.

"Mmmh, okay" Elise responded. She was too tired to complain about it.

"How have you been? I've waited so much for your call." Logan said, he had wanted so much to speak with her but had been holding himself back. He could only busy himself with trying to find ways to finish off his brothers.

"I'm just fine, l'm sorry I haven't had time to call you." Elise explained.

"You don't have to worry about that, l'm sure we'll find time to talk. So where are you right now? Logan asked, hoping that Elise would tell him the truth about her situation.

"I'm just at the outskirts of the town, I'l be starting work tomorrow so I'm looking for a room close to my work station, I won't be staying back at home." Elise responded, she had wanted to lie to him but saw no need of doing that, it's not like he would do anything bad against her.

"Have you gotten one, I can help you with that if you won't mind.," Came Logan's charming voice.

"About that.... I'm really not sure if you could help me get one here, I've made rounds since morning but none of the rooms meet my budget." Elise responded

desperately. She wasn't sure if she would be able to get one. The only ones that could be available would definitely be far from town and it would become a real

challenge when it came to commuting.

"Why would you say that, I'm sure I could help you get a better one. One of my friends just moved abroad and had been looking for someone to care for his apartment when away, he didn't want to let it out to strangers and requested me to help him there. Would you be willing to help me with that." Logan said hoping he sounded as convincing as possible.

Elise on the other hand wondered what luck could be on her side that day. She thought about it for sometime and responded.

"Logan I'm sure you don’t know much about me, why would you trust me with that, I'm sure you could find someone trustworthy enough to rent it out." Elise in her heart however prayed that she would not miss out on this important offer.

"Elise from the moment I saw you I knew in my heart that I could trust you, plus it's not like you will disappear with the apartment, I just need you to help me here while I help you as well, trust me Elise that this would be a great deal."

"I also promise to never again impose myself in your life just like what Idid with your contact, I promise that would be my last, just so that you can trust that all these I did in good faith." Logan added. He was beginning to feel desperate about Elise, no womanhad dared try his patience ever since, they would end up dry within seconds. Logan was amazed at the kind of effect she had on him.

"It's alright Logan I guess I have no choice but to accept your offer, it would really be a great help to me now that I'm only getting started at work."

"Thanks so much Logan, I wouldn't know how this day could have ended but I really appreciate your help. I however hope that you would keep your promise." Elise added.

"I promise you Elise, I would never go back on my word"

"Let me get your location and send someone to pick you up and accompany you to the apartment." Logan said.

"Thanks again Logan, I'l just wait here "Elise responded and the line went dead immediately. She hadn't gotten enough rest and continued laying down hoping the guy who would be sent would arrive later. Since she hadn't slept well the previous night due to the uncertainty of her

future coupled with the long walk in search of a house, Elise didn't know when she had fallen asleep.

Elise was woken up by a guy who had parked a car beside her, she looked confused at first but realized her situation, she however couldnt tell for how long she had slept.

"Sorry miss to have woken you up, I have been sent to accompany you to an apartment in the city, could you please come with me." Said the short guy. He seemed to be in his early thirties, not eye-catching but handsome enough.

Elise only nodded at him, she was too tired to even talk. He led her into the car as he helped her with her luggage.

The drive took around ten minutes before the guy pulled up infront of a heavily fortified building. Being led throgh the gate, she had her fingerprints taken, but all the while she was awed by the beautuful and definitely expensive building. Elise even wondered if she would meet up to the standards of that place.

The driver led her to the elevator and pressed on the 36th floor. From what she observed the building had 37 floors. The elavator stopped and the two got out and infront of them stood a single door. The attendant had the door opened and she was ushered in, the two guys turning back. She opened the door and was met with a beautiful sight to behold, the seats were made if expensiveleather, and the decorations around the house was definitely worth more than her life. Elise dropped her suitcase on the floor at the living room and made her way through the entire apartment. It had three huge bedrooms that she wasn't sure what she would use all that for.

Getting to the balcony she was amazed at the beautiful view of the city from high above. Elise was sure that at night would definitely be the best time to watch the city from high up. Looking closer out Elise realized that she was familiar with one of the buildings within her sight, her place of work. What a wonderful surprise, she won't have to board any car while going to work daily. It would save her a lot from the expenses.

Having had enough cool air, Elise headed back into the apartment and called Logan appreciating his kindness towards her, he had become her life saver. After the phone call Elise made her way into one of the bedrooms and had a shower, she then dropped on thewarm and cozy bed immediately falling asleep.
