Chapter 5: From Worse to Terrible

She wisped "hello" my dad turned to me, I can say he was furious I am guessing because - why is there a girl on my door, but as soon as he saw my face he knew I had no idea.

But out of nowhere, Sophie came out "hi" and an older lady, maybe a couple of years older than my dad with a dashing smile and a 2-year-old baby on her hip.

"Well hello, new neighbor."

 This was like a twilight zone. My dad was numb. He shook his head and spoke a soft "Hello."

The lady started to talk " Sorry for bursting like this but Sophie told me what happened at school and Lilly clarified to me so I wanted to see if your boy is ok and give him one hell of a thank you. I hope you got him good." I was a second away from smiling like an idiot.

 My dad looked in ave, what the hell is happening. 

" I can see you are in the middle of something. We just came here to introduce ourselves. I am Marina but everyone calls me Nana, this is Boby'' she bounced the cute boy, "the cute girl is Sophie, that I am guessing your son already knows and this is Lilly." 

Everyone had a bright smile even scared Lilly had a shy smile on. 

Something snapped my dad out of trance " I am sorry you caught us by surprise My name is Daniel and this is my son Aron, please come in. 

That is when Sophie whispered can we give them cookies now?''

I started smiling, and after a long time, I had a sincere smile. 

Nana responded "Yes Sophie you can give them cookies now, we do not want to bother you we just came here to introduce yourself and say thank you, to your son. If you ever need anything let me know." Sophie gave me a big plate of cookies and an even bigger smile.

 From the corner of my eye, I could not stop looking at Lilly. She was beautiful but it was not like Natalia, Natalia was like a model-actress, Lily had something, beyond beauty, like, she was nothing special, no feature that stands out but altogether she had something appealing about her. I am sure from her blush she knew I was looking at her. I smiled again and I couldn't help myself, I thanked Sophie for the cookies and looking at Lilly I told her see you around. If possible she blushed even harder, I think she was going to explode how red she was. 

When Nana told goodbye to my dad Lilly almost ran. My dad closed the door and we started laughing, like an honest laugh, "Well I did not expect that."

I could see in his eyes he was on the verge, just like me. 

He exhaled "I am trying here son, I am trying to get our money back, make things right for you I just need from you to understand and to be patient. That is all I ask." 

I shook my head " I know dad it is just like I have no perspective like I have no idea what I will do. My life was run by money and now …

" Just try son, that is all I ask, I might never get our money, I will try but I might fail. I still want you to succeed to be the best you can, have some passion in life that will push you with money or without".

After the conversation I went to the gym, I needed to let out some steam. As I was running on the treadmill, I started to think. I was never engaged in life, it was just passing by and at the time it was good, but now it has no meaning. I remembered when I was a boy I wanted to be a doctor. I would play with the nannies, I even have a picture of me in a white coat with my nanny. That dream disappeared when my mom told me it takes too much time and effort to finish it, I will be too old and it's just not worth it. It is better to be a businessman like my dad, rich and successful at a young age. Now looking at things maybe I could try to get into a medical school. I had good grades, I can keep it up for one year, I will need a scholarship.If I start with football maybe I could get something there. I caught myself planning my life. I have to say I got a bit excited. Finished my workout and went home.

It is a start, I do not want to get my hopes up but it is better than nothing.
