**Chapter: The Morning After**

The sunlight filtered weakly through the curtains as the morning crept into Emily’s room. The shadows of her nightmare still clung to her, even as the warmth of the day began to settle. She hadn’t slept much after waking from that terrible dream, her mind racing with fear and guilt. Every time she closed her eyes, Austin’s face flashed before her, bringing with it the chilling words that haunted her.

When she finally dragged herself out of bed, her entire body ached with exhaustion. Her head throbbed, and a wave of dizziness made her stumble as she tried to stand. Gripping the edge of the bed for support, she took a deep breath, hoping to shake off the remnants of the nightmare.
