Chapter 6

Often said between lovers, it was the most popular romantic phrase at the time.

Nevertheless, to Cecelia, it was a threat. A pure threat!

Was it what people meant by ‘it is easy to bring in a spirit but difficult to send it away’?

Cecelia wanted to cry as she was pulled by the collar to the bathroom.

“10 minutes. Clean yourself up, otherwise, I will come to assist you.”

Cecelia wanted to refute, ‘No, never. I’m not going to bathe.’ However, when she saw William’s stern gaze, her words became, “I haven’t taken any clean clothes.”

William who was at the door moved aside a little and said, “You have 9 minutes left.”

“Ah...”

Seeing that William did not seem to be joking, Cecelia dared not dilly-dally. She dashed to her room to get a set of clothes and then said to William who was still standing by the door frame, “Um, could you move aside, I need to close the door.”

This time, William kept quiet and turned around to leave.

Facing William’s back, Cecelia rolled her eyes at him.

However, it was as if William eyes on his back. He said as he left, “7 minutes.”

Cecelia immediately shut the door.

Although time was short, Cecelia managed to finish washing up.

Exiting the bathroom, Cecelia saw that William had made himself at home. He was sitting on the sofa and using her cup to drink coffee.

“Um, you...”

William turned around at the sound of her voice and hummed through his nose, “Hmm?”

Cecelia retracted the words that were at the tip of her tongue. “Nothing.”

Cecelia was a clean freak, and she did not like anyone using her cup, cutlery, etc. Even her ex-boyfriend of three years, Hawick, had not been an exception.

The thought of that idiot made Cecelia’s chest feel stuffy.

Before that night, she had always thought of Hawick as the only person in her world.

She and Hawick grew up in the same orphanage, studied at the same university, and when they came out to work, applied to the same company.

As 100% childhood friends, they naturally became a couple three years ago.

They had even discussed their future together.

Hawick had promised that after they got married, he would become the breadwinner of the family. On the other hand, she just had to look pretty as he wanted her to be the world’s happiest woman.

In reality, Hawick sold her to his boss’ blockhead son while he slept with a woman who was old enough to be his mother just to get a pay raise and promotion.

Cecelia had begun drowning in painful memories when William pulled her toward the bedroom.

“Wh... what are you doing?” Cecelia was brought back to reality, and she tried to free herself from his shackle-like hands. Unfortunately, Cecelia was no match for William who was much taller than she was.

When William plopped her on the bed, she quickly scurried to the other end off it before leaping off. “Um, I... I’m not sleepy...”

“Get up!”

William’s expression was cold. “You’ll regret it if you don’t.”

“I... I have to wash the clothes I had on earlier before sleeping. You can head to bed first...”

‘Oh, wait. Didn’t I prepare something while I was in the bathroom earlier?

‘It’s my fault for reminiscing about that b*stard Hawick till I forgot about my perfect plan.’

Cecilia suddenly relaxed herself and obediently crawled up the bed. On the other hand, William’s expression darkened even more. “Okay, okay. I’m coming, alright? You... you should come quickly as well. Isn’t this our first night together as a married couple?”

‘Huff, I’m still a bundle of knots. Not to mention, when I said the last sentence.’

William gave her a meaningful look before turning around...

Suddenly, a few loud bangs were heard from the living room. It was as if someone had broken down the door.

Cecelia could not be bothered about it and quickly got out of bed to catch William who was about to go outside. “That b*stard Hawick must have told Mr. Mason my address. I caused the incident, and it has nothing to do with you. So, just stay in the room and don’t come out.”

Cecelia pushed William toward the bed and reminded him once more before leaving, “Regardless of what happens outside, act like you don’t know what’s happenning.”

Cecelia might have been timid, but she knew very well not to drag someone innocent into her personal affairs.
