"What game are you trying to play with me?" Evangeline said over the phone. She had been giving Tessa updates about herself and Gavin, but at the moment it felt as if she was not getting anything out of the situation.

"Game?" Tessa replied. She sounded confident, and that was one of the things that annoyed Evangelien even more.

"Yes, what sick game is this? Are you cheering your daughter on? Did she come crying to you that she wanted him even after she had acted all high and mighty? Are you trying to take me out of his life without anything in my name? Just so you know, Gavin will barely have anything by the time we divorce."

"Oh, please," Tessa said, letting out a laugh.

"You are laughing? Is anything I have said funny?" Evangeline asked.

Tessa could tell that she was over the edge, just where she wanted her to be. As she was now, she was most likely to do what she was going to ask her to do. She was afraid that she would lose everything and in a bid to hold on to anything she c

Evangeline storms out of the room and walks to the study where Gavin had been coupled up all morning. She wanted to be the one to divorce him, but now that she thought about it, why didn't she let him take the blame for trying to divorce her first? She was going to try her best to start an argument one way or another. She barged into the room without knocking and let the door hit the wall behind it. "What do you think you are doing?" Gavin's voice came out all surprised as his eyebrow raised, almost touching his hairline in frustration. "Coming in here to talk to you," she said, leaving the door open as she walked towards him, striding like a leopard. "So why can't you close the door?" "Oh, I think we would both appreciate it if the door were left open," she added in a low tone as if she were trying to scare him. "What is this about?" he said again, wondering what she was trying to do. "Are you seriously asking me what this is about?" She asked, stopping midway and shaking her h

Gavin took up his phone and called Lila immediately; he could not wait to share the good news with her. Lila looked down at her phone and waved it to her mother. Her mother had come into her room to update her about the situation. Lial had never seen her mother in her room so much that this was weird for the both of them. "See," Tessa said with a smug smile on her face. She had told her daughter that Gvain was going to reach out that night to tell her about the divorce because she was certain that she had been able to push Evangeline out of his life. "What do I need to tell him?" Lila had always known better than to argue with her mom, but something inside of her wanted to get all the opportunity to have a conversation with her mom, so she tried to act as if she did not believe that Evangelien was going to go through with it. Somewhere inside of her, she wanted to believe that she loved Gavin, but seeing how she crumbled in front of a lump change, then she must really have been aft

"I am so glad we can do this," Oliver said as they sat down on the top floor in one of the finest dining rooms in the city. He had booked the entire place out so they were the only ones in there. "I am too; it seems as if things have been hectic but I have no idea what is going on," Arietta replied. She had tried her best to reach out to Lila but nothing seemed to be going through. She saw a lot of things but nothing was making sense. "It sure has," she expected Oliver to at least say a little bit more but he was quiet. "So what is the sudden dinner for? I thought we were going to meet tomorrow night," she said, knowing that tomorrow was Friday and they usually met on Friday for a full twenty-four-hour date to catch up on all they could not go on during the week. "We can still meet tomorrow," he said, and she wondered what his problem was and why he was not saying anything more to her."Do you want to explain why we are here in this empty, dimly lit restaurant?" "Have you been avoiding me?" Sam asked as he sat beside Damien at the bar. He had come in to drink on a Friday night and met Damien, who rarely came to places like this since he was afraid he might fall back into an addiction to alcohol sitting right there. "Why would I avoid you?" Damien asked, looking at Sam as he ordered from the bar. "I have no idea. I have been trying all week to know what has been going on with you but it seems like you are blocking me." "Blocking you? If anyone heard you, they would think we were in a relationship," Damien murmured and took the glass in front of him to his mouth. He winced as the hot liquid burned down his throat. "Then why are you doing it?" "You are imagining things; I have been busy with work and you have been busy as well," he said and then added under his breath. "I wonder what kind of lawyer has so much free time." "The one that is about to take over his dad's company in a few months." "What?" Damien was not sure if he had heard ri

"You have done a pretty good job at hiding from me for the past week that I never thought I would see you here like this," Arietta said. Lila's hand on the fridge tightened as she wished at that moment that she had superpowers so she could disappear from sight immediately. She swallowed and wondered why she had come down; she blamed Oliver for not letting her know that Arietta would be around today. If she had known, she would have stayed coupled up in her room for the rest of the day. "Hiding from you?" she asked, acting as if that was not what she had been trying to do. "Why would I do that?" she asked without turning to her. "Are you saying you were not trying to hide from me?" "Of course not.""Then when are you going to turn around?" she asked and Lila closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. Her mother had warned her not to say anything about the plans they had to anyone and she felt that if she and Arietta were in the same space, she might be forced to tell her all about

"Mr. Calloway," Gavin called. Damien was just leaving the hotel after having a meeting with some journalists while Gavin was going in. His assistant had informed him about Gavin coming in but he chose to ignore it. If he got into a conversation with him, he might be tempted to beat him up. He made Lila's life a living hell and he was not okay with it. "Keep walking," he said to his assistant, who was about to stop. Grey did not understand but he obeyed. Damien was stone and cold, but he never ignored any businessman, especially in public, and since rumours were going around that Gavin was set to marry Lila, his reputation was getting better. Damien might benefit from standing close to Gavin at this time, even though he might not really need it. "Damien Calloway," Gavin called out again and then laughed to himself. "Are you ignoring me?" he asked and then let out a sharp laughter. "Don't you think it is a bit rude to ignore others?" Damien stopped and turned around; he marched to h

By the time Rosa had made sure they had enough cookies that their tooth hurt, Kevin retired to his room and then they went to the grave site. Kevin had stayed down not because he wanted to but because Rosa was suddenly herself and was now bossing him around as she used to do before. "It is going to be a long ride to the grave. Are you sure you do not want me to get anything for you?" "Anything to eat?" Lila asked, shocked. She had never been filled with cookies before; they say that there is a first time for everything and this was truly a first for her. "Yes, maybe some bread or just anything," Rosa replied and Lila shook her head. "Don't be shy and tell me; even if we don't have it at home, I will stop over at the store and get it for you." Rosa's offer sounded sweet but Lila was sure that she did not need to eat anything again. "I am fine," Lila said and then they left for the car. "Where do you think you are going?" Tessa asked as Lila descended from the stairs. Lila had expected a scolding from her mom because she allowed the plan fall through but insisted she just gave her a look and went into her room. "She is dead but I am going to her grave to say hello and apologize for making her leave this world earlier than she was supposed to. "Why do you have to be the one to apologize for that?" Aletta asked walking into the room and standing by the door frame. "If I feel guilty then don't you think that I need to apologize?" "So you are apologizing to clear your guilt?" "I have to say you are pretty good with kids," Rosa said as they approached them. Damien and Jason had played so much that Lila was afraid that the boy was now attached to him in just a few hours. It kind of made her feel bad that the thing that took her weeks to do just took him less than an hour to achieve. "You doubted me," he said, and he felt the need to impress. "I used to volunteer at an orphanage every weekend until I got too busy," he said with a proud tone. Both ladies did not miss that he was trying to humble brag but it was obvious that he was terrible at it. "I should?""Of course you should; I think you are better as a volunteer there than as the chairman of your company."
