Ariana
I was still in shock, the pain radiating from my cheek did not seem to reduce. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I couldn't stay focused on that at the moment. The whole house is three times what my dad's house was, that is, before those cruel men broke in and trashed the place. There was so much blood everywhere. I can't even understand how this became my reality. My mum, dad and brother, they're all gone. Andy was just lying there, lifeless. I screamed so loudly when I saw him. I stayed in cellar, but I couldn't act like I wasn't hearing the gunshots, or the screams. My little brother whom I hadn't seen in over ten years, was gone. Yes, we were two years apart, but he was still my little brother. The only time we ever talked was on the phone. Video calls, voice calls... Even if we weren't in the same city, or country, it was fine. As far as I could see his face, I was fine. Today, I turned twenty. I just couldn't stand being apart from my family, even if daddy had told me never to come back home except he sent for me. He said the whole family was moving to Switzerland so we could be together, but I couldn't wait. I thought he'd be happy to see me, to see his Principessa (Princess). He was so upset when he saw me. I felt like I wasn't wanted. Maybe he sent me away all those years ago, and hid me from the public because he hated me. Or maybe this way the reason he didn't want me here, he knew this was going to happen. No wonder Jenkins took me to the secret room behind the wine cellar. That used to be my room before he sent me abroad. The room had changed a lot. It looked like a panic room built for criminals. The walls were lined with arms and different ammunition. The place was sound proof like some sort of war bunker. When the shooting began, I did as Daddy had told me when I was younger. “Principessa, if you hear anything, anything at all, run to the cellar.” As if he knew one day something like this would happen. Right now, I know no one is trust worthy. With the air of authority Lucky walks with, I think he's the leader of this gang. What I can't figure out is what they want with me. I don't know what to do. All I'm certain of is that he needs to die, and it has to be by my hands. He needs to trust me, if I want to get close to him. Close enough to put a bullet in his skull. I started gun lessons when I was only five years old. It was obvious daddy was into shady stuff. That was the only reason a twelve year old could be a certified black belt. After sitting in the room for a while, I walk to the window where is see armed men pacing the whole estate. There's no way I'm leaving this place with my body parts intact. But I have to escape. To give my parents a proper burial at least. There was no way those bad men had cleared out all those bodies. My parents should be there, Andy should be there... I felt helpless. Fear crept over me as I realized I could meet the same fate as them. Maybe I should have stayed quiet, hidden in the vault like daddy had said. While I tried to organize my thoughts, I heard a knock at the door. Behind the door, I saw the most beautiful girl I had ever laid my eyes on. She was stunning with sparkling emerald eyes like precious gems. She had the most luscious lashes and the face of an angel. She smiled, revealing such perfect dentition, "My name is Camilla. You must me Aria." I nodded absently. Her eyes scanned my body slowly. She was accessing me. My cheeks heated up a little. Before I could open my mouth to ask anything, she closed the door behind her. “You have to look presentable. Aria, the Don can't see you covered in blood.” Shoot! I've been covered in blood for hours. After I left the vault, I spent some time flipping the bodies outside over trying to find my brother. When I got into the house, I caught that bastard taking a picture of him. "Ariana, I'm so sorry. I brought you an ice pack." She gently handed me the cold compress, wrapped in a soft cloth. I took it, pressing it against my throbbing cheek. The chill of the ice provided some relief, but the pain lingered. “I'll get you anything you need! Name it! You need to take a shower and change into some clean clothes.” Camilla said with a fake squeaky voice. It seemed like she was trying to cheer me up. Her voice tinged with sincerity. Tears welled up in my eyes. “Anything?” I asked her? “Anything.” She affirmed, looking at me with such pitiful eyes that I started to feel bad for myself. “Can you get me my Andy back? My parents too. Can you bring them back please?” My voice broke as I made such an impossible request. Just then, reality had started to hit. Yesterday, I was a college student with friends and a family. A family I never saw, but still, a family. Now, I was an orphan at the mercy of my parent's killer. Camilla enveloped me in a warm hug. “I'm sorry,” she said, "I lied to you mama. Ask for anything else. I promise, I'll give it to you!" She broke into a sob. As she held me, tears began to fall, mingling with the water droplets from the ice pack that dripped onto the floor. I just stood there with this stranger, crying my eyes out. She seemed to understand what I was feeling. Or at least, she felt something. But no one could be trusted. Daddy was right, the world was a bad place filled with really bad, and horrible people. But for now, I want to hug this stranger, I want to feel the warmth I could never get. Even just for a moment. We stood there for over thirty minutes. Camilla held my shoulders softly, pulling me away from her body. “Sorry.” I apologized, knowing I put her in an uncomfortable position. “It's fine Ari, just take a shower quickly. Don Castello would want to see you when he comes back.” She wiped the tears off my face, leaving the one on her cheeks to drip down. I nodded. She left the room for a moment. It took her some time to return with the hygiene stuff she went to get. I took the opportunity to carefully place the knife I had swiped from my parent's house under the mattress. She returned then walked me to the bathroom, like I needed help showering. Maybe she thought I'd kill myself if she left me alone. In as much as that was an option I was considering, I couldn't do that till my family's murderer was deeper than six feet. Don Castello will feel my wrath. Camilla opened the shower as I lowered myself into the tub. The blood flowed into the drain and I couldn't help but think about my next move. Right now, there can be no room for weakness. I wiped the tears that threatened to roll down my cheek. Camilla poured soap on my body and scrubbed me, inch by inch. This was the first time anyone was showing me love this way. It felt nice, but there no way I'd let myself be comfortable in this hell hole. When she was done, she brought me an immaculate towel. I wrapped myself up and entered into the bedroom. She had set some clothes aside for me. There was also a tray of food on the night stand. The sight seemed to make me nauseous. Right after I put the clothes on, I heard a soft knock on the door. It was the rude guy that took my pistol. He asked Camilla how I was doing in Italian. I scoffed softly. The idiot didn't know that was my fucking first language. I was going to use that to my advantage, somehow. They think I'm a stupid little girl, that's where they're wrong. ‘Your savoir’ my ass. “The don wants her.” Camilla looked down at me, pity filling her eyes. She walked me in front of a tall maple door I assumed led to the bastard's office. She knocked first then led me inside. In a flash, she was gone. The room was poorly lit. How can such an influential man not afford light bulb? “Come closer!” His voice was chilling. Goosebumps spread across my body. My legs moved themselves to the front of his huge table. “Open it!” There was something unhinged about the look in his eyes. Those were the eyes of a man who had seen blood one too many times to be fazed. He was dangerous, and so was I. He folded his sleeves up, squaring his shoulders. He had a full sleeve of tattoos on both hands. I did as he said and opened the mini heirloom chest that sat on the desk. What I saw left me in shock. A severed hand covered in blood. I felt nauseous. Immediately, I shut the chest. He cleared his throat. “That, was the gift I received this evening.” Why did he show me that? How was I connected to his ‘gift’. “Guess who it was from?” He asked like I was supposed to know. When I thought it couldn't get worse, his expression became more grimaced. “Wait that's not all, there was fucking note attached.” He had the worst smile on his face, the kind of smile only a deranged person would wear. He opened his drawer and revealed a note. After scanning my expression, he read the note out loud, "Release Ariana by tomorrow, if not, that will be you. You know I don't bluff. Love AL." I know those initials all too well. How the fuck is this happening right now? Why? “Now I want to know Ariana, what the fuck do you and Arturo Lopez have?” In that moment, my mouth couldn't move. It was as if I was frozen in time.Xavier Ariana stood there, looking at me like she had suddenly forgotten how to speak English. I knew there was something peculiar her the moment I set my eyes on her. The mere thought of her being connected to that bastard made my blood boil. She looked too innocent to be tainted by such a fucking veil person. I grasped Ariana's shoulders, my eyes locking onto hers. "Ariana, what do you know about Arturo?" I demanded. Her eyes widened, innocence and confusion written across her face. My gut twisted with anger and concern. My patience was running out. My fists pounded on the desk. “How are you connected to Arturo? Are you here spying for him? What do you have with him?” The last question was highly unnecessary, but I felt like I needed to know. She flinched everything I shouted. Her fear just made my desire for her double. “He is my friend!” She blurted out. I scoffed, ”Your friend? You expect me to believe that? You think I'm stupid?ʼ’ I leave my seat and in a second I'm
Ariana The next morning, Camilla called me into Lucky's office. It seemed like he was a man of his word. It turned out the only person I trusted was the daughter of the consigliere and a bloody good lawyer. I signed the contract then headed back to my room. Every single part of it was just wrong. It said the man practically owned me. He could do whatever the hell he wanted, specifically, have me whenever he wanted. Some part of me wanted to go silent on Camilla but I didn't balme her. This was the life she was born into. Her job was just to deliver the contract it wasn't like she drew it up. The knife I kept under the mattress was the first thing reached for when I got into my room. I paced the floor of the room clinging tightly to my blade. I didn't want anything to catch me off guard. What did Lucky mean by pet? Was he really going to touch me funny? The hand in the chest, why did Arturo send it? How was I going to get out of here? Playing this sick game of his wasn't going
Xavier It's been a week since I had seen Ariana. I've been too damn busy planning my revenge on Arturo. Since he sent that message threatening me to release Ari, he's gone silent. It was obvious that he was planning something. I couldn't be caught off guard. It was hard to concentrate with her damn face flashing through my mind all day long. I was going insane over the enemy's daughter. This girl would soon be the death of me. The way she said my name made me loose my shit completely. I had absolutely no composure. Keeping her here was the best decision I ever made. Knowing I had something Arturo wanted and couldn't access turned me the fuck on. I hear a knock on the door. I know the only person who would knock so damn softly was Camilla. “Come in!” “Boss, she's ready.” Camilla had been reporting to me daily. I couldn't just let Ariana be by herself for too long, she'd go crazy. Camilla said she didn't eat much. I suspected that It was because of the environment change.
Ariana “I hesitated! I had him and I hesitated!” My lower teeth sunk into my lips as he grabbed my cheeks. It hurt, a lot. “I'm sorry, please let me go.” No matter how loud I screamed he didn't listen. “That's all for today!” He said before pulling me in the direction of the others. Today is the day I take my last breath, I'm sure of it. “Boss, what happened? Are you okay?” Lorenzo saw the blood flowing from his arm. Xavier bit back a curse, ”I'm fine. You guys can have your fun, we're going home!” I thought he was going tell to them what happened and have me killed, but he didn't. Instead, he drove us home. Xavier got into his study and didn't come out for a long time. My whole body was shaking. I wondered what he was going to do to me. “Shit, shit, shit!” Why didn't I kill him? Why on earth did I hesitate? That man killed my whole family, he gloats about it every moment he gets! This wasn't my last chance to kill him. I have other chances, that's, if he lets me live.
ArianaHe tucked his gun behind his belt looking down at me with desire in his eyes. Xavier walked closer to me, goosebumps spread throughout my whole body. “No, I'm not taking off my clothes in here. This is a dressing room.”He swept his tongue across his lower lips, his eyes didn't leave my body for a second, “Ari, baby, I didn't ask for your opinion. It wasn't a fucking request. And yes, this is a dressing room, so get fucking undressed.”The way his voice came through was cold and stiff, this was not negotiable. “On the count of three, I want everything gone. If you can summon the courage to shoot me in the fucking arm, then you can do the only thing I'm keeping you alive for.”His words cut through like a sword. I can't believe that this is what I've been reduced to, a sex doll. “One.” I hear his voice barge into my thoughts. Before he can say anything, I pull off my top leaving only my bra. “Two,” his voice is louder this time. My hand moved to the buttons on my pants. I u
ArianaI stood in front of the dressing room mirror, staring at my reflection. I hadn't realized it until now, but I haven't showered since the archery incident. When Lucky said we were going out I was too tensed. The memory of the arrow whizzing past my ear made me shudder.Camilla walked in for the second time and I hadn't moved from where I was standing. She sighed, “What's the problem Ari?” Cam was so oblivious to my distress. There's was no way I'm going out feeling like this. I turned, my eyes scanning my body. "I feel... dirty," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.Camilla raised an eyebrow. "Dirty? What do you mean?"I hesitated, unsure how to explain. "I haven't showered since... since the archery range." The words spilled out, and I felt a flush rise to my cheeks.Camilla's expression softened. "Oh, Ari, it's been barely four hours, are you some kind of germophobe?“ I shuddered again, the memories flooding back. "It's not just the sweat. It's like I can still fee
Xavier I clenched my fist tight. This girl was getting on last nerve. The only thing I can see is how my men were fawning over her, it infuriated me. It's funny how I'm supposed to be on my itinerary for the night, but my mind was on Ariana.Specifically, the image of her wielding that bow and arrow, her eyes blazing with determination.Almost taking me out.A chuckle escaped my lips, surprising me. Who would've thought that the first person to make me feel truly alive in years would be a beautiful, deadly archer?I glanced in the rearview mirror, catching Ariana's gaze. She smiled, and my heart skipped a beat.Focus, Xavier. But my thoughts drifted back to that moment. The way she'd handled the bow, the precision, the power... and the intent. A shiver ran down my spine. I'd never felt so, so challenged. And yet, I couldn't help but admire her skill. I must be going crazy. "You're quite the marksman," I said aloud, not realizing I'd spoken until Ariana responded. The car was dead
XavierMy stomach tied on knots when I realized I could lose her forever, that could not happen. We drove around at least four times, there was no sign of her. My mind wondered with all sorts of possibilities. What if he had taken her, what if Arturo got to her first. Ariana Morales was my weakness, she was my Achilles heel. There was no way I was letting her go, she made me so susceptible and so ducking vulnerable. Ariana was gone, she had escaped. How could she? After everything I'd done for her. Everything I'd given her. I was panicking, blinded my rage. How dare she betray me? Leave me? I slammed my fist into the wall of my office. The sound echoed through the mansion. My mind reeled.Where could she be? Who helped her?I'll find her, no matter what. I'll make her pay. For leaving me. For rejecting me.My phone buzzed. My anger boiled over.Lorenzo walked into the office. He stood quietly in a corner. Even though he wouldn't admit it, he was worried sick about her too. But he
XavierI pace the cold, grey interrogation room, my mind racing. I check my watch and realize that it has only been twenty minutes. Twenty minutes which feel like an eternity. Finally, the door opened.A figure enters, dressed in a sharp suit."Camilla?""Don't worry. I'm here."I exhale, relief washing over me. "How did you...?""Joseph called me," she explains. "He wants me to represent you. You know, because--"I nod, cutting her off. Even if her father did some despicable things, he was still her father. I couldn't even imagine what she was going through. Camilla's expertise in high-profile cases is unmatched. She practiced for a while, but her father always seemed to need her back home every now and then. It wasn't obvious, what he was doing. But after a while, I became suspicious. But Camilla never said anything. She always tried to be happy, no matter what. "Mr. Castello," she says then clears her throat. She subtely surveys the room, searching for recording devices of any k
XavierBefore Joseph can say anything, I tell Mateo to take Ariana back to the house right away. I just had to make sure she was okay after what had just happened.Mateo nodded and quickly walked over to Ariana, then escorted her away. The next order of business was to get Joseph far away from her. At this point he was the only danger she had to worry about. Joseph looked furious, but he knew better than to argue with me, so he just turned and walked towards the cars. We were both cut from the same cloth. I was a younger version of him. He raised me never to take no for an answer, so I wasn't going to stand her and watch him insult me in my own house. Not in front of my men. We got into the car and drove away. The security team followed directly behind us in other vehicles. My father always used official cars when ever he was in the country. They gathered less attention and were government affiliated so no one over bothered to pull the cars over. I didn't say anything, just kept
Ariana The man stood tall, exuding an aura of commanding authority. He had eyes seemed to bore into those he gazed upon. His dark hair, flecked with subtle hints of silver, was slicked back, complementing his sharp cheekbones. He had imposing physique radiated power. Every move he made conveyed confidence and control, as if he owned the very air he breathed. His tailored suit hugged his muscular frame. The crisp lines and expensive fabric seemed to shimmer in the light This was the ruthless man I stood before. At the mercy of. He looked like the kind of person who'd meet just once in your life, and pray never to meet him again. He had the lifeless eyes of a stone cold killer. I would do anything to be looking into Xavier's right now. I stared down the barrel of his gun, its cold, dark metal gleamed in the dim light of the room. Again, I found myself facing the very real possibility of death. Another life-threatening moment had arisen, and I was exhausted. I had seen guns poin
XavierA week had already passed. But one week felt like forever. I hadn't seen Ariana. It felt like I was drowning but it was for her good and mine. Escaping Sophia felt almost impossible to do. It was no coincidence that the very Sophia came to my house and saw Ariana, she was the target for an assasination. Someone had definitely planned this. And the Guerra's are my best bet.As I drove to the house to see her , I felt an overwhelming sense of relief knowing that she had survived the cinema shooting with only a minor injury.I had been frantic with worry since hearing the news, my mind raced with worst-case scenarios.Thankfully, Ariana's injury was just a graze, and not something more severe that could have taken her life.I couldn't bear the thought of losing her, and my grip on the steering wheel tightened at the mere possibility.I was the reason she was hurt, both physically and emotionally. If not for Lorenzo, the blow would have been fatal. Only the thought of it sent m
Ariana We pulled up to the movie theater, and I stared in confusion, wondering why we weren't heading to the club.I thought we were going to drown our sorrows in loud music and drinks.Lorenzo's firm tone cut through my expectations."No chance of that happening," he said, his eyes locked on the road."Not after last time," he added, his expression stern.Camilla's curiosity got the better of her."What happened last time?" she asked, her voice laced with amusement. The car fell silent, and Lorenzo's gaze met mine in the rearview mirror. He shook his head subtly, signaling me to drop the subject. His warning was clear: don't pursue this topic. My curiosity, however, had already been sparked. A disturbing thought crept into my mind, making my heart skip a beat.Had Camilla experienced something similar to what I went through with Julian?Maybe it was a painful memory, a trigger Lorenzo wanted to protect her from.I discreetly glanced at Camilla, my eyes scanning her arms and neck for
ArianaI stumbled alongside Lorenzo, my mind reeling. What just happened? One minute, I was returning Lucky's ring; the next, I was being ushered away. "Lorenzo, what's going on?" I asked, tugging my arm free.Lorenzo's expression softened. "Xavier needs to handle some business, kiddo. You're safer elsewhere."Safer? From what?"Who was that woman?" I asked, recalling the icy gaze.Lorenzo hesitated. "Just someone Xavier works with, kiddo. Don't worry about her."But I did worry. Why did Lucky seem so tense around her?And why did she look at me like I was an unwanted obstacle?"Lorenzo?""Yes?""Is Lucky in trouble?"Lorenzo's pause spoke volumes."He's attending to business, Ariana. That's all you need to know."But I needed to know more."Lorenzo, please tell me," I urged, my voice barely above a whisper.Lorenzo's expression turned sympathetic. "Ariana, trust me. Xavier can handle himself.""But who is she?" I persisted. "Why did she look at me like that?"Lorenzo sighed. "She's..
Xavier The persistent knocking echoed through my mind, blurring the lines between reality and dreams.I opened my eyes to find myself in my dark room. The knocking continued, insistent."Ariana?" I called out, my voice husky from sleep. No response.I turned to the side to find Ariana sleeping right next to me. If she was here, then who was at the door. No one ever dared disturb me when I'm asleep. I strode to the door, my bare feet padding softly on the floor. The knocking continued, growing more insistent.I flung it open, ready to unleash my irritation my eyes met Lorenzo's. "What is it?" I whispered, my irritation simmering."Xavier, I wouldn't disturb you if it wasn't crucial," Lorenzo replied, his voice barely audible.I stepped further into the hallway, ensuring Ariana remained undisturbed."Speak," I demanded, my patience thinning.Lorenzo hesitated. “Sophia's here!”Lorenzo's words sent a jolt through me."Sophia's here?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.Lorenz
Xavier Lorenzo's face changed as he listened to the voice on the other end. His face spoke volumes about the gravity of the situation. His eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched, and a vein pulsed in his neck. He was so easy to read. I knew that look all too well; it was the look of bad news. I stood up abruptly, pushing my chair back and catching Ariana's curious gaze. She looks so adorable when she pouts. I felt a pang of guilt for leaving her behind, but this was something I couldn't ignore it.I nodded at Mateo, giving him a silent order to keep Ariana safe.Mateo's subtle nod acknowledged the command, and I followed Lorenzo out. "Where is she?" I asked Lorenzo, already knowing the answer."At his house," he said.My gut tightened, "Lorenzo, how bad is it?" I asked.Lorenzo's face was grim. "Bad enough," he replied. We drove out to the estate's gate where a black SUV was waiting.Camilla came out from the passenger side. Her face was so pale. Without uttering a single word, she sli
ArianaIt was happening again. I was drowning in an endless ocean of darkness, unable to find a lifeline to cling to.The sound of heavy rain pounding against me was deafening, making my heart race with fear.I kept running, not knowing where I was going or what I was running from, but unable to shake off the feeling of impending doom. The fear was suffocating, making it hard to breathe, and I screamed out in desperation.Suddenly, I jolted awake, gasping for air, and found Xavier's concerned face hovering above mine. "Did you have a bad dream?" he asked softly, his voice filled with concern.I nodded, still trying to shake off the lingering fear.Xavier's arms enveloped me. I felt my racing heart slowly calm down. "You're safe now, I've got you," he whispered, tightening his hold around me.My eyelids drooped, I stirred gently. "Xavier?" I whispered. He opened his eyes, focusing on me."Hey," he said softly, rubbing gently on my arm. "How are you feeling?""Terrible," I admitted, rub
