Clueless

Asriel was ready for the meeting when his mobile rang.

" Grandmother,"

" How are you my child? I heard that Zia is awake now,"

" News travel really fast grandmother, yes she is,"

" I hope everything is as agreed . You won't go back looking for her, especially now that I feel the change in you,"

" Of course grandmother, it's better this way,"

" If you want I can find a perfect woman for you to sire a child for you,"

" No need grandmother, I'm alright now, I still have time to think about it. And grandmother please leave Zia alone. Don't meddle in her life, at least for the sake of our child together,"

" Of course Asriel, as long as she won't be a problem to us both."

The line went dead and Asriel sat on the couch exhausted. He felt regret and pain, why did he have to do that? Maybe an explanation and an apology would have been enough for her, to prevent any more complications in the future, but it was already a done deal. Asriel got out of the room and headed for the conference room, his cold and threatening look plastered on his face.

It was later in the afternoon that Caleb was done with his patient and was preparing to leave for the hospital when Cai joined him headed out.

" I thought you would be gone Cai, what are you still doing here?"

" I have no idea what to do Caleb, I wanted so much for my sister to wake up, but right now I have no idea what to do,"

" You could go back to your country and get a life for yourself, maybe find a job. I'm sure you won't be depending on your sister's company forever, she might change her mind and take everything from you,"

This got Cai thinking. Zichi had changed so much in the past three months ever since she became the company's CEO, changing the company's security and most of the employees. Even he wasn't allowed without into the company without her knowledge, soon things might actually change with the coming back of Zia.

" I'm not going back, I think I might stay here. I'm sure Zia has no idea that she doesn't belong here, so this is where she will stay. I'll have to watch her, even from a distance."

" I'm planning to give her an old apartment for her to stay at while she looks for a job, I'm sure she is already eighteen, she can take care of herself,"

" Leave that to me Caleb, I'll stay with her at my apartment,"

" Are you sure about this, Asriel might not like it,"

" Not when I don't reveal anything to Zia, that's what he is afraid of. I'm sure he won't mind, we are siblings after all,"

" What about the relationship between you and Asriel?"

" I don't know for sure Caleb, I can't betray my sister once more. It's better if I forgot about Asriel, I can always find someone else,"

" Alright, I'll get going now, take care of your sister. You may take her home whenever you like. You'll know what to tell her about the scar on her tummy,"

" Shit...I almost forgot about that,"

Caleb went into his car as Cai went back to the hospital, he didn't want to stay for a minute more in that forsaken place. He hurried back to Zia's room and found her standing by the window as she stared out.

" Doctor I need to go now, I'm sure I'm all healed up,"

" By the way I'm not a doctor. I'm just a friend to Caleb and once I saw you here all alone I couldn't help but visit you most of the time. Caleb is already headed for a job at a hospital in town."

" I'm really grateful for your concern all these while. It's really hard when you have this void that you have no idea how to fill . I feel so empty inside, without a purpose, with nothing at all,"

" Don't say that Zia, what's important is that you got your life back, we had never lost hope in you waking up, and this is a chance for you to start something new. I talked to the doctor and he planned on taking you to an old apartment of his. I thought you could stay with me, I have an empty room at my place, and it's only me, what do you say?"

" I'm not sure about that, I don't even know you,"

" I'm Cai. I assure you you'll have nothing to fear, you'll be like a little sister I never had. Please just accept and come stay with me,"

" What about your girlfriend, won't she mistake us when I live with you,"

" Mmmmh... about that ....I'm not into women," Cai scratched his head embarrassed, this had actually been the first time he admitted to someone that he was gay.

" Really now"

Zia smiled for the first time and Cai felt his heart melt, his little sister was back for once, her soothing and beautiful smile, the one that had made him love her so much and want to protect her, yet love had to come between them.

" I'm embarrassed already about this, will you stay with me? Please?"

" If you insist, then yes I will, but only for a short time, after I get a job I'll have to move out,"

" Thank you so much Zia, I'm fine with that, as long as you agree to stay with me for now, others will come along the way. So then, let's get moving, I'm sure you want to breathe a different air,"

Zia glanced around at the place that had become her he for the past three months and sighed, it would be better if she got out into the fresh air. She glanced down at her hospital gown, she had no clothes to put on.

" Shit.. I hadn't thought of that, but I couldn't get you one along the way,"

"Perfect, let's get out of here,"

The two walked slowly out of the room as Cai held her hands tightly, she was still weak after all that time lying down.

Cai helped her into the car which immediately drove off. Zia felt that she could trust this man who had offered to help her, nothing about him seemed dangerous at all, at least according to her knowledge.

Cai stopped by a store and asked Zia to stay in the car while he bought a few things. As far as Cai could remember he knew his sister's favourite dishes and her preferred clothing. In a few moments he was back his hands full of shopping bags.

" That was a lot you got back there,"

" You surely don't expect to find any food at my apartment, I'm such a bad cook, but with you I'm willing to give it a try,"

Zia smiled at herself, she knew she would definitely love her new roommate, and of course since it couldn't get complicated between the two of them, he was gay after all.

The car came to a stop infront of a three storey building in a small neighborhood. Zia had glanced around with the hope of maybe identifying any opportunities she might get once settled in, but she realised that it wouldn't be that easy in that small neighborhood, but it would be good to start somewhere.

Cai led the way into the second floor and opened the door to a neatly arranged room. Though it was small, Zia noticed how Cai had taken his time in arranging his living room, matching curtains and a small kitchen by the side which looked empty, with an empty glass on the counter.

Cai dropped everything on the bed before pointing to her her room.

" I know it's not the ideal home but this could do in a while. As you can see no one has lived in the room for quite some time. You can relax as I clean it up for you."

" That you so much Cai, I really wouldn't know how to start,"

" Don't start getting all emotional, now rest while I prepare something for you to eat, after that we'll see about your room. You can watch the

television while I get everything ready,"

On the television, Asriel was on the news after the major take over of the Alliance hotels which was now under GD Corporation.

" I'm here to assure every employee of Alliance hotels that they wouldn't lose their jobs under this new regime, infact I promise to improve their welfare by reviewing their renumeration and this for sure will be a better deal, you are assured of your security especially since everyone is aware of what my company does and the power we have,"

Cai glanced at Zia when he heard the voice too familiar to him, but Zia seemed clueless about anything, this gave him the assurance he needed, he didn't have to be afraid of their secret. With that he focused on preparing food without any worries.
