Sabrina's POV

With a smile on my face, I let myself sink into gratitude. Soon, I felt my eyes begin to close, allowing myself to drift into a peaceful sleep that would hopefully bring recovery.

The sound of Nicholas’ footsteps approaching from the kitchen interrupted my thoughts. I opened my eyes and saw him carrying a large tray of food and snacks. My face immediately filled with wonder.

Nicholas smiled, showing pride in what he had prepared. On the tray were various dishes—fresh fruit, sandwiches, and a few sweet treats. The aroma wafted by made my stomach rumble, even though the nausea still gripped me.

“These are all for you,” he said, placing the tray on the front table. “I wanted to make sure you had everything you needed to recover.”

Seeing the care and effort he had put in made me feel touched. This small moment, amidst all the hardships, gave me a much-needed sense of warmth. Even though my body was tired, my heart was fille

Sabrina's POVNicholas came in with a glass of water. He placed it on my bedside table without saying anything, then walked to the other side of the bed. I frowned, confused by his actions. He stood for a moment, as if considering something. His gaze was soft, and I could feel genuine concern in his manner. The silence between us was comfortable, even though there was much left unsaid. Nicholas then nodded toward the glass of water. “Drink if you feel thirsty,” he said softly. I nodded, reaching for the glass and savoring the freshness of the water. This simple moment reminded me of the little acts of attention that often mean more than words. Despite the challenges ahead, Nicholas’ presence beside me gave me a sense of security and hope. “What are you doing?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper. Nicholas stared at me for a moment as he unbuttoned his shirt cuff. “I’ll sleep here,” he answered casually.“Here? You m

Sabrina's POVThat morning, the atmosphere felt calm after I had a light breakfast. While sitting in the living room, I tried to enjoy the moment after a tiring night. Nicholas, my husband, was busy in the kitchen brewing coffee for himself. Just as I was about to check my messages on my phone, suddenly it rang. I looked at the number, and it turned out to be my mother-in-law's.I felt a bit tense; usually, when my mother-in-law calls, there’s something important she wants to discuss. Hesitantly, I answered the phone, waiting for her voice on the other end.I paused for a moment, my hand trembling as I held the phone. What could she want so early in the morning? In my heart, I almost didn't want to answer it, afraid of the tone that always made me feel small. But after a few seconds of hesitation, I slid the green icon.“Hello?” my voice sounded a bit shaky.“Mom Sabrina!” Charlie's quiet, tearful voice made me sit up straight. My heart s

I could feel the joy flowing between them."Don't worry, Nicholas. You can learn from us," I teased. "And who knows, maybe you can defeat Charlie next time!" Charlie laughed, "Yeah, Daddy! Hazel didn’t budge, her face still filled with anger. "You don’t understand! Every time she’s around, I feel like I’m losing control of my life. Charlie is my child, and I won’t let him be influenced by outsiders!" I felt hurt hearing those words. "Hazel, I’m not an outsider. I care about Charlie and want what’s best for him. I don’t want to take anything from you," I said firmly. Nicholas tried to mediate, "We all care about Charlie. Let’s talk about this calmly. We can find a way to work together for Charlie’s sake." Although the beauty outside seemed calming, inside me, anxiety and loneliness took over.My mind kept turning, thinking about Charlie. Yesterday afternoon, he sat in front of me, smiling a little while enjoying the pancakes I made. I can even remember his voice when he said, "Mommy Sabrina, this is really delicious."
