Sabrina's POV
After fainting a few days ago, my condition has not improved. I feel my body getting weaker, which makes me wonder what happened because I'm not usually like this. With a pale face, I supported my body with my hands on the sink because I wanted to vomit a few minutes ago. However, nothing came out of my mouth. After washing my face with cold water, I came out of the bathroom and found my husband, who was already looking neat. I approached Nicholas, who was standing in front of the mirror while putting on his watch. "Nicholas, do you have free time today?" I asked, looking up at him. "No, my schedule is very busy today," Nicholas answered coldly, as usual. I grabbed Nicholas's black tuxedo from the edge of the bed and handed it to him with great care. "I wanted to ask for a moment of your time to accompany me—" Before I had time to finish my sentence, I heard a soft snort from Nicholas. He turned his body to look at me and grabbed the tuxedo his wife had brought. "I'm busy, Sabrina. Go by yourself or ask the driver to take you. Don't be spoiled!" I hadn't even had the chance to convey my purpose to my husband, but I was rejected just like that. "Okay. Maybe some other time you can accompany me when you're not busy," I said in that long blue dress with my head bowed. "Hmm," Nicholas answered with a casual murmur. "Charlie will go with me," he said while grabbing his car keys. "You don't need to drop off and pick up my son today." 'My son.' As if Nicholas was emphasizing that even though I have the status of Nicholas's wife, I do not necessarily become a mother to Charlie. For Nicholas, I am just a stranger even though we have been married for three years. I swallowed bitterly. "Okay. Be careful," I said, trying to be strong. However, Nicholas did not respond; the man instead walked out of the room. From behind him, I walked along. Down there, little Charlie was waiting in a sky-blue uniform and a white beret, along with his red bag. "Mommy, come with me to take Charlie!" Charlie exclaimed, holding out both of his hands. "Not today, honey." I smiled, holding the little boy whom I considered my own son. Nicholas turned his head and then took Charlie from my arms. "Let's go with Daddy, Baby Boy!" Nicholas said, smiling warmly at his sweet son. The child pursed his lips and looked at me with a look of protest. As everyone knows, Charlie only obeys whatever I say. I smiled at Charlie, calming him down with just a few words. "Don't be naughty at school, honey," I said. "Ready, Mommy!" The child cheered as he stretched out his two little hands to hug and kiss my cheeks lovingly. Inevitably, Nicholas, who was holding Charlie, had to move closer to me. The man averted his gaze as if he didn't want to be that close to his own wife. "We're leaving," Nicholas said without looking at me. He immediately pulled away and walked toward the main door. "Yes. Be careful on the road..." My husband rushed into the car. There were no hugs and kisses like other couples generally have before their husbands leave. This made me feel lonely and neglected. After my husband's black car drove off, I stood frozen in place for a few seconds before I went back into the house to get ready to go to the hospital. For several hours, I was in an examination room at a hospital. I came alone without anyone accompanying me. Now, I walked down the corridor with weak steps and a face that radiated sadness after hearing all the doctor's explanations about what happened to me. "Mrs. Sabrina, the results of the medical examination revealed that you have stage two blood cancer." Unconsciously, my tears fell as I remembered the words the doctor said a moment ago. "Stage two," I whispered, my body trembling as I carried the examination results letter. "How could all this happen?" I wiped my tears and walked out of the hospital. I rushed into the car and drove home. My heart was restless. Unwanted by my own husband, and now I was seriously ill. How should I tell Nicholas about all this? I smiled sadly. "Even if I tell Nicholas, it seems like he won't care...." Throughout the journey, I daydreamed about my fate. Suddenly, something caught my attention from inside the car that was driving slowly. "Sir, stop the car for a moment!" I asked the driver. The car stopped. I stared straight ahead, my expression surprised as I saw the sight of two people in a restaurant across the street. "Nicholas?" I whispered in disbelief. "Didn't he tell me he was busy? But... but why is he with Hazel?" I covered my mouth in disbelief. My chest felt tight. While I was suffering from the doctor's verdict about a malignant disease, my husband was busy with his ex-wife and child in a luxury restaurant. Their faces looked happy, like a harmonious family. The laughter and warm smiles that Nicholas gave them—he never gave to me. "He never even had time for me, but now he prioritizes his ex-wife..." I couldn't stand what I saw. I quickly turned my face away. "Sir, let's go," I asked the driver. "Okay, ma'am." The car sped up again. The pain in my heart and the pain in my body attacked me mercilessly. I held myself back from crying. I didn't know what to do about my husband, and my marriage felt in vain.Sabrina's POV Nicholas, who had been watching, finally lowered his head. He sighed softly, then headed for the kitchen. His footsteps were heavy, not from fatigue, but from knowing there was nothing he could do to fix this feeling. A few moments later, the sound of running water from the faucet was heard, followed by the clink of glasses placed on the table. He returned with a glass of water, placed it on the table near Hazel without a word, and then sat down in the chair across from her.I shifted my position and sat beside Hazel, trying to offer support without having to say anything. My hand touched her shoulder, just briefly, but it was enough to make Hazel turn her head briefly with a small, grateful smile. She then looked down again, staring at Charlie, who still didn't want to let go.“I want to too, son. But sometimes, people have to go home. So they can get their lives in order. When Mom Hazel has settled everything, who knows, maybe we can be togeth
Sabrina's POV Nicholas leaned back, covering his face with one hand. That small movement revealed the gravity of the situation. He didn't immediately reprimand or try to calm Charlie, perhaps because he himself was trying to come to terms with what had just happened. His usually strong shoulders now slumped slightly, like someone losing his footing. I sat frozen, staring alternately between Hazel and the little boy, who was now gripping his colored pencils too tightly. The air in the living room was thick, as if something was pressing in from all directions. The clock ticked slowly, but each ticking of its hands emphasized how painful the seconds were.Charlie finally put down his colored pencils, crossed his arms over his chest, and leaned back against the pillow. His eyes glistened, filled with unshed tears. He blinked repeatedly, as if he didn't want to appear weak. But his breathing was heavy, ragged, and I knew he was about to burst into tears.
Sabrina's POV The living room felt different that afternoon. Usually, Charlie's laughter or Hazel's light chatter filled the air, but this time a long silence hung. Hazel sat on the edge of the sofa, her back straight but her fingers clenched, as if holding something heavy.I looked at her, trying to read her face, but her gaze was mostly focused on the floor. Nicholas sat beside me, his eyebrows slightly knitted together; it was clear from the way he looked at Hazel that he, too, sensed something was wrong."Hazel?" I finally broke the silence. "Why do you seem so serious?"Hazel took a deep breath. Her voice was low, almost hesitant. "I have something to tell you. Don't be surprised."I swallowed. It felt like my heart was pounding in my chest. "Just talk," I whispered, trying to sound calm.Hazel looked up, her eyes darting from Nicholas to me. "I'm going back to my apartment."The words were like a large stone dropped on
Sabrina's POV I noticed the row of trees along the roadside, their leaves still dripping with rain, reflecting the light of the car's headlights. In my head, everything that happened today replayed: the furniture truck arriving, the shelves being installed, Hazel's unstoppable smile, and the phone call from the factory that nearly made her jump for joy. It was all like pieces of a puzzle finally fitting together.Hazel opened her eyes again and stared out the window. "It's so beautiful, isn't it, Sabrina? The sky this afternoon." Her voice was soft, almost drowned out by the sound of the car engine.I followed her gaze and smiled. "Yes. It's like a reward for a long day."Nicholas added briefly, still staring straight ahead. "You've all worked hard today. This afternoon deserves to be beautiful."Hazel just smiled, then fell silent again. Charlie, who was listening, exclaimed cheerfully. "It'll be even more beautiful tomorrow, right? Because
Sabrina's POV Hazel then looked around and said quietly, “I want everyone who enters this boutique to feel this kind of atmosphere. Warm, full of laughter, like family.”I nodded. “That’s possible, Hazel. Because this boutique already has a soul. Your soul, and all of ours.”Nicholas added briefly but meaningfully, “If there’s love behind it, people can definitely feel it.”Charlie immediately jumped in. “Yeah, like I can taste it when Mom bakes cakes with love! They taste so much better.”Hazel chuckled, then pinched his cheek gently. “You guys, you always manage to make Mom laugh.”I looked at the three of them, my heart warming. “Then, starting today, let’s celebrate every little step. Because every step counts.”Hazel nodded, her eyes sparkling. “Agreed. From now on, this boutique isn’t just a place to sell clothes. It’s a second home for all of us.”Charlie shouted happily. “Home boutique!”Nicholas sm
Sabrina's POV Hazel laughed again, this time with more relief. “Deal. I promise. But you also have to promise never to leave me halfway.”I looked at her deeply, then nodded firmly. “That’s the easiest promise for me to keep.”Hazel was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath. “Sabrina, I think today isn’t just the first day my boutique opened. It’s also the first day I truly believed I could do it.”I took her hand, holding it tightly. “I’ll always be there to remind you that that belief must never be lost.”Hazel smiled, this time a smile full of light despite her tired face. “Thank you, Sab.”I smiled back, stroking her hand gently. "You're welcome, boutique owner."A sudden knock on the door made us both look at each other. I frowned; we had indeed locked the door, and the closed sign was already hanging. But outside, I saw two very familiar figures.Hazel, who had been sitting, immediately rose, her face slightly confused. I knew w
