Sabrina's POV

Charlie giggled happily and immediately stuck the "flag" on top of his sand castle. "Done! This castle is for you, mommy," he said proudly.

I was silent for a moment, feeling emotion flood my heart. "Thank you, honey. Mommy really likes the castle." I stroked his hair, which was already messy from playing. "Does Charlie know? Mommy loves Charlie very much."

Charlie paused for a moment, looking at me with his round eyes. "I love you too, Mom. If you leave again, I'll be sad," he said innocently.

Those words stabbed my heart like a knife. I tried to smile, even though it was hard. "Mommy won't leave again, honey," I promised. Although in my heart, I knew I didn't know how long I could survive this situation.

Charlie smiled again, returning to his imaginary world. He began to decorate his castle with small leaves that he had collected around him. While I sat beside him, watching him lovingly, trying to capture every detail of th

Sabrina's POV The school bell chimed softly. A teacher took the microphone and began to welcome the families, explaining the day’s schedule and games.I held Charlie’s hand gently and stole a glance at him. The joy radiating from his face was unmistakable. No trace of past worries or pain—just a child living his special day with the people he loved most. And for a moment, I allowed myself to believe that this day belonged only to us. No shadows from the past. No distractions. Just the three of us—and the laughter we wanted to keep forever.Charlie darted off toward a group of his classmates, waving excitedly. But less than ten seconds later, he ran back, tugging at both our hands.“Come on! It’s starting!” he said impatiently, his cheeks flushed from running.Nicholas and I exchanged smiles and followed his tiny footsteps as he jogged ahead to the field. Several mats had already been spread neatly under the tall trees, offering shade from the warming morning

Sabrina's POVThe morning sky was clear, as if it too was celebrating the day Charlie had been waiting for. Today was “Family Day” at his school—a special day when parents didn’t just show up for meetings, but joined their kids to play games, join competitions, and create precious memories together.I stood in front of the bedroom mirror, adjusting my hair, a smile lingering on my face that just wouldn’t go away. Behind me, a small, excited voice had been calling out over and over again.“Mooomm, hurry! The games are gonna start!”Nicholas emerged from the room wearing a white t-shirt and casual jeans. He looked completely relaxed this morning, his slightly messy hair still effortlessly charming.“Easy there, Captain Charlie,” he said, patting our son’s head, “Your troops are ready for battle.”Charlie laughed, then grabbed both our hands. “Come on, come on! We can’t lose to my friend’s parents!”The drive was short but filled with laughter. In the back s

Hazel’s POV No one answered. No one cared.I scanned the crowd, desperate for a familiar face—someone who could tell me this was just a mistake. That this wasn’t happening. But there were only strangers. Curious eyes behind yellow tape, staring like I was some kind of criminal they’d been waiting to see fall. They shoved me into the backseat of the police car and slammed the door shut. Through the rear window, I watched the abandoned shop disappear behind us. The brown folder was still inside. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. My brain kept replaying Andrian’s words, like some twisted echo: “Don’t open the documents. Don’t ask questions. This is not your concern.”Was this his plan all along? Had I just been a pawn?Tears blurred my vision. I bit down hard on my lower lip, trying not to make a sound—but the sob was already climbing up my throat. Everything I’d done to get Charlie back… It all felt like it meant nothing now.

Hazel’s POV My feet stayed frozen on the cold tile floor. My body remained seated, but my thoughts had already spiraled—through courtrooms, custody battles, the terrifying idea of losing him. I bit down on my lip. Half of me wanted to refuse. But the other half knew... I was cornered.I leaned back, staring at the ceiling as my eyes burned—not from anger, but fear. I never wanted to end up here—just another pawn in Andrian’s game. But here I was. And I didn’t know which move would save me.Not yet.So for now, all I could do was sit there. Clutch the folder. Listen to my unsteady heartbeat. And hope, somehow, I’d make a choice I wouldn’t regret for the rest of my life.***I hailed a taxi to take me to the address on the note. Deep inside, I hesitated. But I had no other choice. When the taxi arrived, I climbed in and gave the address. The driver nodded and started the engine without saying much. A light rain had begun to fall, blurring the windows.I sa

Hazel’s POV Andrian didn’t answer. He simply stared at me for a beat, then turned toward the window behind him. “I’m giving you a choice,” he said softly. “You can stay a useful pawn... or become a piece I toss off the board.”My fingers clenched. The folder in my hand suddenly felt heavier—not because of its contents, but because of the consequences I hadn’t yet dared to name.“Deliver the documents, Hazel. Before five.” Then he sat back down, his tone turning casual again. “After that, you can go home, play the sweet mother and the wounded ex. No one will suspect a thing.”“This isn’t illegal… right?” I asked, still holding the folder, hesitant to put it into my bag.He chuckled. “Oh, Hazel. You think I’d drag you into something criminal? Don’t be naïve.”But that only made me more suspicious.“Then why not deliver it yourself? Why me?” I asked sharply. His face tightened for the briefest second—but the smile returned. “Because I tru

Hazel’s POVMy footsteps echoed softly down the corridor leading to Andrian’s office. A few familiar eyes glanced up from their screens, only to quickly pretend they were still engrossed in their work. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the erratic beat of my heart—the one that had been pounding ever since I read his message this morning. [Meet me immediately. It’s important.]I thought I was done with this man. Apparently not.Part of me wanted to turn around, go home, and erase every trace of my involvement with him. But the more rational part—the one that understood consequences—knew better. Walking away could trigger something far worse. Andrian wasn’t the kind of man to let people go once they’d touched the secrets he buried so tightly. In my hand was a brown folder, now slightly damp with nervous sweat. Just another project report, on the surface. But Andrian rarely summoned anyone for “just business.” Not since Nicholas’s accident. Everything had c
